Had he admited right when he got caught he could have gotten a pass. This happen recently with many trackmania speedrunners, even some very famous ones, and they preety much got a pass. Their reputation is a bit ruined, but I think they can, at least, still submit runs, even if they are under the microscope

iirc he had some professional run the numbers, then do a complete PC check and some minecraft plug-ins specifically put together altered his luck or some shit like that. Doubt that's something u just "know"
Essentially it was a combination of bad luck, animosity, tunnel vision, miscommunication, etc that led everything to this point. I personally think this could have been handled much more effectively. His reputation wouldn’t be so tattered if he approached his obstacles quickly and gracefully. Dream really seems like a famous guy that doesn’t exactly know how to act the part. Putting aside how he lashed out at the mod team (this I can understand to an extent, especially since they were responsible for making it a public ordeal), he really, _really_ should have confessed almost immediately when he realized the truth. If he wanted to save the dwindling respect people had for him, he needed to apologize immediately and be the bigger person. But he didn’t. Then he should have been way more serious with the written apology, instead of rambling on his phone in the bathtub. If he wanted to be credible, the apology needed to: 1. Clearly explain what went wrong and provide as much evidence as possible to show it was unintentional 2. Explain why it took him so long (and include that he made up with the mods privately) 3. Formally apologize to everyone that was affected negatively 4. Apologize for his own wrong doings and mistakes 5. Explain how he’s going to improve himself in the future 6. Remind people to not send hate Dream failed to properly fulfill 1 and 2 (while he did in the stream) resulting in a lack of trust. He didn’t attempt 3 and 5, but he did fulfill 4 and 6. That’s why the reaction was so negative until he did this stream. He also failed to be clear and succinct, and was a bit emotional about it. I do like Dream, but moving forward I really hope he can deal with drama more professionally. If his apology was going to be so mediocre, he should have just streamed it to begin with. I understand that from his perspective, his actions make sense. But if he doesn’t act maturely, people will make false assumptions and the narrative of him being dishonest and manipulative will be pushed hard. Dream may have wanted to write casually for transparency’s sake, but to others it looks sloppy and disingenuous. He may have deleted his response video out of guilt and hurt, but to others it looks like he knew he was cheating and wanted to shove it under the rug. He may have wanted to keep the apology private between him and the mods, but to others he looks like an asshole that never apologized. He may have wanted to wait for drama to cool down, but to others it looks like he’s backpedaling. He may have been feeling like shit so he didn’t confess immediately, but to others he’s a prick that allowed harassment at the mods to continue. As terrible as it is to have to think in your audience’s shoes while also feeling like crap, it’s just what you have to do when you’re such an internet celebrity. But anyways, I’d say it’s a good experience for him overall. One can learn a lot from this. I am glad I trusted it was unintentional from the start to the end.
You just summarized the whole conflict. Dream might've not meant to convey the wrong idea to people but then, he also didn't realized the difficulty of the situation if he kept it in a long time. Dreams failure to convey the situation to people in such a manner is directly sourced from him CONSTANTLY trying to salvage his personal perception, in some broad few strokes, and in tons of small little psychological ways (most seem like he isn’t consciously doing so). He simply needs to take fault, and then some to amend for all the pepper sprinkles of BS Dream decided to cover everything with.

I literally just started watching dream 2 weeks ago and started liking his videos, I thought the cheating drama ended already. welp, plan B: I HEAD BACK TO THE HERMITCRAFT COMMUNITY. season 8 is starting soon so I'm supeeerrr hyped! I was just watching dream to fill in the gaps of waiting for the new season, and I started watching because the drama ended. But dream admitted it too late, instead of ending the drama he started it again. This is one of the main reasons I prefer hermitcraft over the dream team lmao.
People when say that those that say dream cheated are just sending hate it's not about that, it's about honoring the hard work that speedrunners put into their runs and not just Minecraft speedruns, but all of them, hard working people hate when someone comes along and tries to cheat to bypass all the work that goes into these runs. now I'm not saying dream has put in no work he is very skilled when it comes to Minecraft, but when it comes right down to it cheating is no way the best way to get a reputation in the speedrunning community and if you think that it's just a block game it's no big deal you're right in one way and wrong in another to the average person yes it's a block game but you need to understand this is the speedrunners job they stream speedrunning and make a profit off of this I implore anyone who has Minecraft bedrock or java try to do a speedrun and then maybe your opinion might change on how big of a deal this is

Basically dream doesn't know how to say something properly without proper context which in turn led to more bullshit by everyone, i defended dream but jeez how can someone explain something to defend himself but somehow make things worse?
Cause it was likely all bulls* from the start if you think about it.. He provided his speedrun's game save file stating there was a logs file that proved there were no custom mods used. He says he uses specific versions for different things, and changes mods as needed for those versions, deleting his previous mod folders (his excuse for not giving the mod folder to the moderators for inspection) etc.. Though that would mean going out of your way to go search for speciifc mods online again, redownloading certain mods, then manually dragging those mods into your mod folder. If he was switching around versions that much at that time as his explanation suggests, he would have had to have known what he was dragging into his mod folder.. Because most if not all mods are version specific.. In that case, it would mean he'd have known the whole time that he was cheating during the speedrun. Hence, the more you explain this situation, the worse it becomes because the more you realise it would have literally been impossible for both of those things to have been missed after the first week yet magically remembered several months later.

guys please watch the entire twitch vod before talking shit, he admits to a lot of wrong doing and clears up a lot of points. I'll be honest I didn't believe him the first probably 1/3rd of his argument, but as I watched him progress further into the video and explain more on his side AND admit to lots of wrongdoings this video pointed out I believed him. I have respected Fire for a very long time so i'm on his side (and other youtubers side) and dream openly admitted to cheating, so i really doubt it wasnt intentional, how even does one 'cheat by accident'??? I think Fire even linked the whole thing dream wrote in the description. (Dream even says it's a plug-in that he was using for pearls, but he goes on and on saying it's not a mod but a plug in, like he is admitting that what he used in the speedrun was that plug-in, and watch other ppls videos too, not only Fire's one)
Cheating can happen accidentally like if a glitch happened and your not aware of it and you keep playing depending on the glitch it can help but in dream's case it was very intentional

Unfortunately for dream the way he has phrased his explanation makes it seem that he has intentionally cheated and is why many are interpreting it the way they are. Regardless of how it happened though, the reality is that dream cheated in his 1.16 speedruns. However, despite this there is no reason to condemn him for this as this does not define dream as a person. Leaving one of the only reasons to condemn or call him out, to be because of his initial behaviour during the beginning of the drama. Either way though, this does not mean that dream should be hated on for his cheating as long as he moves on from this drama for the better and stops a situation like this from happening again.
I actually agree with you. People can move on to the situation rather than making it more complex and intricate. And yea it's like a miscommunication and misconception from his fans that his apology is erroneous and deceitful from the viewers in order for them to sympathize to him. People get the wrong idea since they are also insecure to trust dream since he handled the situation incorrectly. I guess this dilemma serves a moral lesson and message for dream in order for him to ameliorate the disapproval of his fans and his wrong decision to keep the apology to himself for a long period of time. Okay to sum up the video this is what I'm going to say. I personally think dream did not cheat. Things can be left on by an honest mistake and that's okay. He left on a mod because he does stupid videos to entertain people. That mod increased the chances of when blaze rod and ender pearls drop. And even though this was a while ago and he recently found out that he left the mod on and he openly admits to it is on God deserves respect. Like who wants to bring drama from literally a half a year to a year ago an admit now to it? Because usually people will not admit to it at all so they don't start more drama. My personal Opinion :)

I disapprove of cheating, but I still approve of dream trying to prevent the drama, I wouldn't say that dream dug a hole for himself, but the fact that the people targeting him pressured him to fall down the hole he saw. I still like him as a person despite it, having said that, the people here are spreading hate here in the comment section where Dream LITERALLY says, "NO drama regardless, no hate spread on his behalf." Yet this is happening anyway?
He admitted that he cheated but he is constantly stringing it as an accident, which while is possible is unlikely as he knew he had this plug-in installed and if he was being serious while doing this run; he would've taken out the plug in, but he didnt. Not to mention, in other instances he was blaming the mods of the speed running community for the drama and calling them incompetent, not taking in account they have their own lives and are just moderating the community as they are supposed to.

Manhunt is trying to beat the game before getting killed, meanwhile speedruning is trying to beat the game as fast as possible. I just don’t get why ppl care so much to the extent that they feel the need to cancel a dude tht barely even cares abt speedruns and tht has a career primarily made after entertainment videos. It wasn't even that talked about untill he started tweeting about attacking the mods. Made a shitty response video that got debunked within a 2 hour span by an actual proved professor. He says he had the plugin from "the beginning of time", long before 1.16 came out. You'd assume he probably had the plugin for his old speedruns too. So either he knew to turn it off for those speedruns and chose not to for the 1.16 runs, or he had them on for the old runs too which would mean they are cheated runs.
He is 100% not cancelled, what are you talking about. His fanbase is far too large and hyper-focused on him to allow any real damage to be done to his reputation, regardless of what happens to him #1; it’s not a matter of cheating in a block game. It’s a matter of manipulating his stans to defend him, lying when evidence is shown, then throwing the nail in the coffin after he could no longer defend himself. I don’t hate Dream. I don’t even watch Minecraft speedruns. But when someone gets so big on their platform that they begin to act immature and think that lying to kids (which is what his fanbase is mostly made up of) is okay, that’s when there needs to be some speculation about whether they do deserve a platform or not. Stans will always defend his actions (re-iterated from paragraph #1) without fully knowing the reason why. But when something truly not good happens, when they can no longer begin to trust and defend him, then speculation about “cancelling” Dream will truly begin to start. Had he admited right when he got caught he could have gotten a pass. This happen recently with many trackmania speedrunners, even some very famous ones, and they preety much got a pass. Their reputation is a bit ruined, but I think they can, at least, still submit runs, even if they are under the microscope

iirc he had some professional run the numbers, then do a complete PC check and some minecraft plug-ins specifically put together altered his luck or some shit like that. Doubt that's something u just "know"
Essentially it was a combination of bad luck, animosity, tunnel vision, miscommunication, etc that led everything to this point. I personally think this could have been handled much more effectively. His reputation wouldn’t be so tattered if he approached his obstacles quickly and gracefully. Dream really seems like a famous guy that doesn’t exactly know how to act the part.
Putting aside how he lashed out at the mod team (this I can understand to an extent, especially since they were responsible for making it a public ordeal), he really, _really_ should have confessed almost immediately when he realized the truth. If he wanted to save the dwindling respect people had for him, he needed to apologize immediately and be the bigger person.
But he didn’t. Then he should have been way more serious with the written apology, instead of rambling on his phone in the bathtub. If he wanted to be credible, the apology needed to:
1. Clearly explain what went wrong and provide as much evidence as possible to show it was unintentional
2. Explain why it took him so long (and include that he made up with the mods privately)
3. Formally apologize to everyone that was affected negatively
4. Apologize for his own wrong doings and mistakes
5. Explain how he’s going to improve himself in the future
6. Remind people to not send hate
Dream failed to properly fulfill 1 and 2 (while he did in the stream) resulting in a lack of trust. He didn’t attempt 3 and 5, but he did fulfill 4 and 6. That’s why the reaction was so negative until he did this stream. He also failed to be clear and succinct, and was a bit emotional about it.
I do like Dream, but moving forward I really hope he can deal with drama more professionally. If his apology was going to be so mediocre, he should have just streamed it to begin with. I understand that from his perspective, his actions make sense. But if he doesn’t act maturely, people will make false assumptions and the narrative of him being dishonest and manipulative will be pushed hard. Dream may have wanted to write casually for transparency’s sake, but to others it looks sloppy and disingenuous. He may have deleted his response video out of guilt and hurt, but to others it looks like he knew he was cheating and wanted to shove it under the rug. He may have wanted to keep the apology private between him and the mods, but to others he looks like an asshole that never apologized. He may have wanted to wait for drama to cool down, but to others it looks like he’s backpedaling. He may have been feeling like shit so he didn’t confess immediately, but to others he’s a prick that allowed harassment at the mods to continue.
As terrible as it is to have to think in your audience’s shoes while also feeling like crap, it’s just what you have to do when you’re such an internet celebrity. But anyways, I’d say it’s a good experience for him overall. One can learn a lot from this. I am glad I trusted it was unintentional from the start to the end.
You just summarized the whole conflict. Dream might've not meant to convey the wrong idea to people but then, he also didn't realized the difficulty of the situation if he kept it in a long time. Dreams failure to convey the situation to people in such a manner is directly sourced from him CONSTANTLY trying to salvage his personal perception, in some broad few strokes, and in tons of small little psychological ways (most seem like he isn’t consciously doing so).
He simply needs to take fault, and then some to amend for all the pepper sprinkles of BS Dream decided to cover everything with.

Basically dream doesn't know how to say something properly without proper context which in turn led to more bullshit by everyone, i defended dream but jeez how can someone explain something to defend himself but somehow make things worse?
Cause it was likely all bulls* from the start if you think about it.. He provided his speedrun's game save file stating there was a logs file that proved there were no custom mods used. He says he uses specific versions for different things, and changes mods as needed for those versions, deleting his previous mod folders (his excuse for not giving the mod folder to the moderators for inspection) etc.. Though that would mean going out of your way to go search for speciifc mods online again, redownloading certain mods, then manually dragging those mods into your mod folder.
If he was switching around versions that much at that time as his explanation suggests, he would have had to have known what he was dragging into his mod folder.. Because most if not all mods are version specific..
In that case, it would mean he'd have known the whole time that he was cheating during the speedrun.
Hence, the more you explain this situation, the worse it becomes because the more you realise it would have literally been impossible for both of those things to have been missed after the first week yet magically remembered several months later.

Unfortunately for dream the way he has phrased his explanation makes it seem that he has intentionally cheated and is why many are interpreting it the way they are. Regardless of how it happened though, the reality is that dream cheated in his 1.16 speedruns. However, despite this there is no reason to condemn him for this as this does not define dream as a person. Leaving one of the only reasons to condemn or call him out, to be because of his initial behaviour during the beginning of the drama. Either way though, this does not mean that dream should be hated on for his cheating as long as he moves on from this drama for the better and stops a situation like this from happening again.
I actually agree with you. People can move on to the situation rather than making it more complex and intricate. And yea it's like a miscommunication and misconception from his fans that his apology is erroneous and deceitful from the viewers in order for them to sympathize to him. People get the wrong idea since they are also insecure to trust dream since he handled the situation incorrectly. I guess this dilemma serves a moral lesson and message for dream in order for him to ameliorate the disapproval of his fans and his wrong decision to keep the apology to himself for a long period of time. Okay to sum up the video this is what I'm going to say. I personally think dream did not cheat. Things can be left on by an honest mistake and that's okay. He left on a mod because he does stupid videos to entertain people. That mod increased the chances of when blaze rod and ender pearls drop. And even though this was a while ago and he recently found out that he left the mod on and he openly admits to it is on God deserves respect. I disapprove of cheating, but I still approve of dream trying to prevent the drama, I wouldn't say that dream dug a hole for himself, but the fact that the people targeting him pressured him to fall down the hole he saw. I still like him as a person despite it, having said that, the people here are spreading hate here in the comment section where Dream LITERALLY says, "NO drama regardless, no hate spread on his behalf." Yet this is happening anyway?

He admitted that he cheated but he is constantly stringing it as an accident, which while is possible is unlikely as he knew he had this plug-in installed and if he was being serious while doing this run; he would've taken out the plug in, but he didnt. Not to mention, in other instances he was blaming the mods of the speed running community for the drama and calling them incompetent, not taking in account they have their own lives and are just moderating the community as they are supposed to.

Manhunt is trying to beat the game before getting killed, meanwhile speedruning is trying to beat the game as fast as possible. And about accusing the moderators, dream actually later apologized on twitter. And if that wasn't enough, he apologized on this live stream.

I just don’t get why ppl care so much to the extent that they feel the need to cancel a dude tht barely even cares abt speedruns and tht has a career primarily made after entertainment videos. I can get the anger if his career was in fact specific to speedruns, but it’s not. Likewise, is it not enough to have his previous speedrun records rejected, and his reputation tarnished as a noted cheater? I hardly see the point in then trying to verbally demoralize him to the point of oblivion lol.

The problem is that he lied so many times and he tried to get his fans to attack geosquare because of an allegation that was true and even when he admitted it was more of a "oopsie daisy i didnt mean to cheat" then anything also yes his career was based off of speedrunning and manhunt at the time and when a big streamer has the balls to fake a speedrun that he sends TO THE SPEEDRUN CHECKING AGENCY i could see why it wouldnt be a reach to say the manhunts are probaly fake too.

He says he had the plugin from "the beginning of time", long before 1.16 came out. You'd assume he probably had the plugin for his old speedruns too. So either he knew to turn it off for those speedruns and chose not to for the 1.16 runs, or he had them on for the old runs too which would mean they are cheated runs.

I don’t hate Dream. I don’t even watch Minecraft speedruns. But when someone gets so big on their platform that they begin to act immature and think that lying to kids (which is what his fanbase is mostly made up of) is okay, that’s when there needs to be some speculation about whether they do deserve a platform or not.
Stans will always defend his actions (re-iterated from paragraph #1) without fully knowing the reason why. But when something truly not good happens, when they can no longer begin to trust and defend him, then speculation about “cancelling” Dream will truly begin to start. Right now it’s like a drop of oil in the vast ocean. It’s just floating along the top and not going through. Not even one millimeter.

The dudes shouldn't get death threats over a block game, but his fans shouldn't send those same death threats to other people either. I only watch his manhunt videos and have no care for his speed runs and smp server. He could have cheated on purpose, but it could've been an accident like he said.
