Fun fact, in Italy we have a saying which is "è un pezzo da 90", it translates roughly into "it's a 90 hunk", you use that when you want to say that something or someone is outstanding. The saying had its origin during wartime where the soldiers saw the fantastic performance of the 90/53 cannon.
funny in german we have something similar. when something is very common you say 0815 which goes back to the MG08-15 because it was so common

@@KingSpittusFactus That's completely wrong. The MG was trash, so trash that we use the saying 0815 as degrading, not because it was "common". It was also not common compared to the MG42 where 400k were made versus the MG08 with only 130k.
@@crad5476it was the standard machine gun in WW1 and by far the most common one in that time. The MG42 was in WW2..........
And yes the MG08 had a high tendency to jam and the original meaning was that something is bad but today it's meaning changed to "something is very common/normal/standard".
Just google for 5 secs and you know what you are talking about...

Actually, it was planned to mount it on an Alfa Romeo 800, but the Italian army preferred Lancia and Breda trucks.

Honest question: In a game about tanks, is there any reason not to play just tank destroyers? It's right there in the name.
Most "tank destroyers" are either: heavy and inflexible as hell, having no turrets, or having no armor at all to compensate for their bigger guns.
Tank Destroyers are good at killing tanks, sure, but to win the game, there's way more things to do than just killing tanks.

It does nothing spectacular. With the exception of the gun, not only does it not do anything better than a regular tank, but it's significantly worse than a tank. The main quality that makes Breda 501 good (and the reason why it keeps going up in BR) is it's mobility and it's gun. Thanks to it's mobility, you can flank and you dont have to engage in direct combat. It also allows you to peek cornes better. But thake the mobility away and it's just worse tank in every respect. This is very underwhalming vehicle.
