Fair play 👍🏻 shower looked awesome. Workmanship has improved massively over the last few jobs. I’m a joiner and I’m well impressed with the shower build
@@LiamTheTerrible I'm a chippy and you did a great job. Nice to see you getting on with it all Liam and buzzing👍. A decent Decorators caulk sticks shit to a blanket. My top tip🤣
Workmanship looks top notch, you’re killing these van builds! Really enjoying watching your work, been following your channel for ages, you kept me sane nursing through the pandemic.
Massive pat on the back, your doing a cracking job well done, I did ask you to convert mine but you were soooo busy i couldnt wait, but you should be very proud of yourself. Sending you a massive hug xx
Looks great Liam. Thanks for you heads up on the diesel heaters also, I installed the one I purchased from Maxspeedingrods you showed in a previous vid using your code, it works like a treat.
I used cushion flooring to line my shower it's easy to work with will never wear out or leak and I got a very nice mosaic pattern also got it cheap from the offcut section at the shop
I think you’ve done a brilliant job with the shower. And the plumbing for that matter. I wish I’d gone to the trouble of adding hot water when I did my build. Now trying to come up with a solution to retrofit something.
Shower looking great Liam Just a tip scribe you made at end make into point you will find it goes around curves easier that having a flat end hope this helps Keep up good work
Next purchase you should make is a finishing nail gun, that way you can conceal fix your cladding by nailing the tongue before you fit the next board , and glue the grooves, just a little tip 👍
Well done it's looking great and taking shape nicely, we had every faith that you would do a great job on the shower buddy, but fully understand the anxiety it has brought you making sure everything is water tight and A,ok,.. Thanks for the video and the update on the build. Have a great week buddy, 👍✊👌
So glad I found your channel. Seems like every other project or so you work on is something my rig needs or I wanted to do. Trying to keep things as original as possible as it will depreciate the value of this vintage rig, but some things I just need to fix. I'd kill for this shower! It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I had to opt out of putting an indoor bathroom in this bunk house style rig and go with an outdoor solution, but sure admire your work. Thanks for all the good info, really helping a lot. Your children are beautiful, not expecting that in remodel/repair vids. Surprised to hear your getting negative input about how "your" raising "your" own children. Just keep pluggin' along, go with your own convictions....after all your the one that's going to be held accountable for them. I find peoples advice is a lot like a radio, sometimes you just have to shut the noise off. See you next time and thanks again.
Great job mate , master scriber , looking good , as a chippy myself one of the tricks a chippy must have is scribing, actually Trend do a scribing tool, keep up the good work 👍
What an amazing job you are making. I am well impressed with how you are learning and making such a top job while actually doing the job. You should be rightly proud of this van build job. You are going to be a very very busy man in the future. Your attention to detail is impressive. I see the "vandrover" is earning it's keep too. Take care ❤️💙👍
Cracking vlog buddy, doing a brilliant job on this build again and the shower looks spot on. Hope you have a great week and Best wishes and stay safe and well to you and your family brother ❤️ 💙 ❤️ 💙 ❤️
Thanks for the video. I think it would be more efficient if you had installed the heat exchanger before the splitter. Then you can either heat the van and the water at the same time, or just the water. Now in order to heat both the van and the water at the same time, you have to waste half the energy.
I'm curious as to what hot water pump you have for your shower, what the flow rate is etc? I want to build a shower system like this but don't want an enormous hot water tank so want as low flow as I can get away with
I love it dude! You've got this video mullarky bob on mate! On the one hand I can almost hear the Benny Hill theme tune in the background as yer chop an change( must be your brill editing😄), and on the other you come across as practical and informative as Davey lad Attenborough on his best form! Coolio mate.😄👍👍👍. Now I know about that hot water/ diesel thingy the world knows no bounds. Cheers dude. Live long and prosper.🖖🖖.
Hi, looking at putting one of these heaters in, surely you should have a diverter valve on the other side of the heat exchanger so that in winter you can choose not to waste the 'waste heat' and push it into the van?
I had the same thoughts as you, however (from the Bobil tech doc): Note for use: If the circulation pump has been turned off as the hot water has reached the desired temperature, you must divert the heat away from the exchanger or switch the heater off. Releasing the water pressure in an exchanger that has been heated to over 100 degrees can cause rapid boiling and excessive pressure in the exchanger. This can lead to premature exchanger failure and must be avoided. So you need a means of diverting the heat away from the chamber or it overpressurises. So ducting goes: heater to diverter to exchanger (if selected), as Liam has done. However, look at this vid (@3:55): th-cam.com/video/SsoPhYcC3dw/w-d-xo.html there's a pressure relief valve......which begs the question, do you need a diverter at all; other than to dump heat if you need hot water but not heating (summer)? In which case the diverter after the exchanger would (as you said, @waynesarahburns3871) reduce the 'waste heat'. The pressure relief valve suggests that the scenario from the tech doc above could not actually happen, if all is functioning correctly......
We were told by service engineer when we spoke about getting a Chinese diesel heater that they are not CE certified and that with them not being certified that if they cause fire in van insurance would refuse to pay out for van We went for truma combi instead
Some good stuff, but... that heat exchanger... is it cycling water or just using convection, hot air on the water tank heating the water. Just out of curiosity, what size is the shower stall?
This has been so good to watch, we're going to be using a bobil heater in our van so good to see how it works, where did you get that fan from for the shower?
Please could you possibly do a more in depth video on the diesel heater hot water and how the mixing works to control the temperature? I'm more scared to do the plumbing than I am the electrics. Did you run the fuel line yourself? Also, how does it affect your driving having a huge amount of water sloshing around? Did you mount the water inside or outside? 😂. Sorry for all the questions I just like that you're figuring stuff out as you go along, better than speaking to a plumber who waffles technical jargon asif everyone understands 😂
Nice work! Must be a great sense of achievement and relief. Would backer board have any advantages to plywood? Would the hot water tank retain heat longer if it was sprayed black?
Just wondering .. Shouldn't the bobble heater be directly behind the heater (before the splitter) so the water is always heated? ... then use the splitter after the bobble heater to choose where the heat goes (in or out the van). Any heat you used to warm water, is then extracted and wasted. ... If it was the other way, the same air would heat the water, then the van ....and could be diverted out of the van after the bobble heater in the summer.
Liam, what I was thinking when I ever do mine was to use resin to paint on the walls, ceiling and floor to totally waterproof it. Is there a downside you can think of? Maybe, weight, flexibility or something? Nice job though mate, looks very clean. I like the extraction fan with the light built in, not seen those before, is it 12v?
