    Loving the look of this and will definitely keep it in mind for the next motorhome I’m gonna be getting later this year, moving away from LPG as much as possible is definitely the way forward I think.

    Great bit of kit, and very well explained Liam. Will keep this in mind for any of future upgrades as I will be fitting diesel heater to add another heater source apart from the truma in our Motorhome.

    thats a cool setup. I built a small heat exchanger using pc radiators with usb fans and a small usb pump it acts like a small ac or heater depending on what you put in the cooler. I only have it set up for ice because I live in Florida but I could add a diesel glow plug to heat the water or even a 12v heating coil all for around $75us and its the size of a 6pack cooler...

    Grateful for the video. If the heater uses the excess energy from solar, does it also use the excess energy from a leisure battery when it’s fully charged while driving. So that you may get a tank of hot/warm water at the end of a journey for no extra cost?

    The only gripe I have is. Why on earth do they make things round. It wastes so much space in a motorhome. Especially hot water tanks. No thought by designers only ease of manufacture. Cheers from old George and happy new year. 🤠🇬🇧👍

    • @bobilvans4205
      @bobilvans4205 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately cubes make very weak water tanks for pressure, high pressure tanks are all spherical! You are correct though, a cube would be more space efficient but much weaker when pressurised.

    • @MakeDoAndMend1
      @MakeDoAndMend1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobilvans4205 Yep thanks for reply. Then a pump that can handle pumping hot water and not having a pressurised tank system. Maybe the answer. Opportunity for a system redesign. Expansion chamber. I must admit I have never worked or pressure tested water tanks. If you have I would be interested in seeing your test results. Cheers from old George

    • @bobilvans4205
      @bobilvans4205 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MakeDoAndMend1 Our original kit was exactly that-a square tank and a separate pump so there’s actually no need for a redesign!

      @@bobilvans4205 Thanks for the update. I am in the process of putting my ideas to a major motorhome accessories maker in Germany hoping that they will take on my ideas. Heat exchanger in replacement to Silencer on exhaust system on heater and also gravity fed tank system with divert valves etc. Parastaltic no sound pump for Diesel fuel. Haven't got time at the moment for major projects as experimenting with magnetic loop aerials and baluns. Cheers from old George or mad George as some say. Video soon.

    I had to dislike this on the basis the bench was a mess, you didn't show us the diverter properly (6ft away from the camera) and the diagram which was shown for a nano second out of focus, not very professional at all, a shame really as it looks a great bit of kit, I think you missed out explaining how you get fresh water into the cylinder. Surely the heat exchanger part is sealed and indirectly heats the cylinder, the water in the cylinder is not the same water (direst heat type)? Personally I'd suggest reading the instructions before doing a video so you know exactly how it works, you just guessed it all.
