Well, I think I got them all right, only play 5 left me thinking, since at first I saw the most obvious thing, the offensive foul because the dribbler pushed with his arm. But analyzing these types of plays really helps us make better decisions. Finally, as I always say, common sense and reading the game are the key.
Ohh, I was on it until the 5th one. I'd probably just call the blocking foul, because I perceive the movement into the space by the defender to be first.
In play #2 the defender did not "jump vertically". They jumped laterally about 3 whole feet. In addition, their left arm came down like a tomahawk on top of the shooter's offhand.
Play 5…DF is asking for trouble. Call the obvious, the entire zip code saw the PCF push off. Keep things simple for optimal game management, keeping tine and score and play calling inventory in consideration.
Absolutely valid judgment. Worth considering that the illegal contact came from the defender first and that the push was a response to that, which would favour a blocking foul. Sometimes the game requires we make the correct call in spite of the reaction, and manage coaches and players (and crowd even) afterwards. NOT saying the push off is an incorrect call here though. This is really a 50/50 play, hence the double foul being correct by rule. Great play to include in the lineup!
Time and score, inventory of calls, tenor and tone of games progress…these make up optimal decision making and the best whistle with this case. You don’t want to be the rightest ref not working.
Sooo HELPFUL. Thank you!
Your welcome.
Learned a lot
Glad it was helpful.

Same here, but I was thinking PCF b/c of the extended arm.

Don't disagree here, but looking at it from a rules book stand point. Your point is spot on however,

@@petefl2407 Haha, I love that last line! Cheers
Play #3 a PCF?
Probably, but definitely not a block.
how many of us are calling a double foul on 5?...
Probably less than 1% and that’s probably a high estimate. Just saying it’s the cortical by rule.
the most egregious call in this video is asking athletes to wear masks while playing a sport.....
It was a bad situation
