If none are available they can send a housekeeper to dust, wipe down, change the beddings vacuum/sweep, mop and scrub the bathroom, while you are out at the pool. They should also, offer a complementary drink and snacks to keep you guys busy while they do it. You guys are brave. I would spend the night having nightmares of bugs crawling all over me. When you do visit Toronto, Kenyans living in Canada would be happy to show you around Kenyan restaurants and bars here. ❤

Probably the room rarely gets visitors and has been neglected for a long time. Even then, they should have spared sometime to spruce it up for you and not just dangle the presidential tag on you. All the same, Shaba is a gem up North. Also before you visit, maybe you should read up on Kenya's landscape and its geography. Up North is hot and dry and sparsely populated. Up to 90% of Kenyans live on the Southern part. Good video, cheers!

The first impression matters, everywhere, or does the hot sun make everyone lazy? Small things matter to me too, dust, insects and washrooms. I am with you all the way. I feel you. You did good to focus on the positive things also. In spite of the shortcomings, as you said, it is beautiful. Food, my favourite always.

I was there this past weekend and there wasn't much wildlife. Didn't even see a single elephant which hasn't been the case on previous occasions. Best to go during the dry season if your aim is to view wildlife.

I myself would not have slept in that hotel and I’m Kenyan. I expect top notch service for my money’s worth. You guys are just something else because i would have requested for a refund and left.
Knowing how serious Sarova are about hospitality, I think this was just an unfortunate oversight. I'm guessing they hadn't quite thought through that upgrade. It was probably very last minute when someone discovered its actually "the Dave Mani" coming 🤩🥳. I'd give it another try later in the year 😉
Most likely that room hadn't been used for quite some time because it's slightly expensive than the rest of the rooms. Sarova hotels are known for offering good services.

I had the exact same experience in Mombasa at a resort, I was so disappointed and annoyed we left that same night ..driving atounf after 2am looking for another hotel, because I was expecting and had a toddler we just couldn't sleep in those conditions..it literally made me hate Mombasa and not want to go back there because of one horrible hotel experience...but I'm still optimistic that I can have a great experience there....just a different hotel😆

The bar looks beautiful. If you didn't know, 80% of Kenya looks exactly that, it's desert and semi arid, only that most of the population is in the cooler and greener areas.

A little correction, Shaba National Réserve where the hotel is, is in Isiolo, not Samburu. Samburu is north of the river. There is also a Samburu National Réserve, down the river in Samburu, which borders the Buffalo Springs Reserve in Isiolo. Isiolo County is the geographical center of Kenya.

Read data from the ministry of Agriculture or natural resources. Forest is only 1.4%. Savannah is only in the south and Mt. Kenya West.
