Can't Get (or Stay) on Foil? The Top 3 Wingfoil Mistakes I've Seen | AWKWA Wingfoiling 101

- In this short video, I channel my inner David Letterman to drop the Top 3 most common wingfoil mistakes I've seen (and have personally done!) beginners make in attempting takeoff and trying to get airborne. I felt a lot of the videos on this or similar topics were missing or maybe understating a lot of rather obvious things that, to my mind, are easy to fix and could yield results quickly. This video presupposes the viewer has a properly sized setup (i.e., board, foil, and wing) as well as enough wind to be able to get on foil for their given kit.

Great tips!
I have also found that having the foil position too far back has made it difficult to get up and stay on the foil. I have moved mine about 2 to 3 cm forward and the board is coming up easily (and faster). I had it back to keep from the board from jumping but I am adjusting better to the climb now.
Great!
Really great tips. Im sure this will help a lot of people out.
Thanks great info I'm the guy u are talking about. Can't wait for the next windy day to try your advice
Thank you very much
Great stuff!
Thx looking forward for first session and hopefully Jimmy Lewis is still shaping great boards👍
Very helpful thank you!
Great tip thanks for sharing 👍🏄🏼♂️
Many of the wing foiling beginner videos are failing to state how one maintain foiling during the initial phase when one is up. Going downwind is good for initial takeoff, but there is a correction after one is up in the air. For me moving my hip wasn’t really making it. I feel like I need to go upwind. I am basically looking for clear guidance in this regard but I still can’t find it.
Good video Ben😎🇲🇽
That sounds smart, I will try it!
Hello, what did you think about Eleveight board please, il
Beetween duotone or Eleveight choice
I would really enjoy to surf harnass free or will this be necessary in stronger winds?
Great. Thanks
Great tips!
when I place my weight onto my toes and the front of the board I feel like the wing itself is pulling me over the board...do I need to offset this effect by using heel pressure
The trying to go upwind issue is my absolute sticking point. I just won't allow myself to go downwind
good one thanks
Which reservoir in AZ is this?
Great tips, I think I bought the wrong size board as a beginner. Mine is 25l over my body weight. Finding it really hard to stay on any slight weight shift and the board either nose dives or bucks me off the back of the board. I still haven’t got on to foil.
too little for sure I am a wing beginner but skilled windsurfer; you must stay at 30/40+ your weight for easiness of learn, I am on +55 rigid because I use same board as windsurfing, but I also bought a +40 inflatable. I am on a lake with chop and instable wind I prefer ti stay large at the sea 10l less is good enought
I find British use of the word "kit" very annoying. My gear is not a kit, it is fully assembled.
You find the english use of an english word upsetting? Yeah thats a you problem
@@250xy500 I still find use of the word "kit" annoying. If you can't accept that, that's your problem.
