PS4 players finally get this game? I played it on PC, and this game is fantastic! The music fits every section perfectly, the gameplay is 2d Dark Souls, and even the way the story unfolds, it unfolds as cryptically as Dark Souls does. A toaster can run this game though, so either way, Steam or PS4, get the game, the developers really deserve it.
I know, the game is a metroidvania, but it has more in common with Dark Souls, than Castlevania, with the way the dodging works and the enemy attack patterns are, as well as how the story unveils.
You should definitely buy this game if you haven't already. It's kinda short in my opinion but everything they put into this game they did wonderfully. Definitely a quality over quantity product

I like this kind of game though I wish they would stop harping on the 8bit and 16bit look. I'd like more metrodvania games with pretty graphics that aren't ruined by awful 3d effects. It's like there is almost no middle ground.
This game does take a lot of inspiration from the Souls games. Bellflowers work exactly like the Estus Flasks, the savepoints work very similarlly to Bonfires, The storytelling is also on the same style, having it delivered though small dialogue with NPCs and item descriptions leaving the rest up to interpretation, the tone and setting are also desolate and hopeless, the way the difficulty is based on every enemy being an actual threat, and so on. Having played the previous games of the series it's fairly obvious that the devs took a big shift in direction influenced by the Souls games specifically for this title.
Nope. Let's face it it's another game taking the creative, technical, and financial easy way out. Another indie game copying outdated design not bothering to see what worked about it and what didn't. A game just as (if not more so) creatively bankrupt as AAA.
appropriately spartan its actually a good indie game. You can't just say it belongs on that train wreck without looking further into it. its already on pc

I played this game a lot on PC, it's an amazing game. If you own a PS4 and you're a fan of metroidvania style, you should check it out.
