Thank you so much for sharing! 🙏🏽 I learned to make straight skirts free hand about 10 years ago. I freehand cut and made 4 skirts without pre-made patterns and made them with zippers too. I have not made anymore since way back then and kind of forgotten some of the techniques because those were the only ones I’ve ever made. Your video here helped me remember the measurement techniques, thank you so much! Drafted the pattern using your video n tried to make the pencil skirt. Problem is that on the right side of skirt it fits but on the left side it is voluminous. I sewed over 3 times but left side still voluminous while right side fits perfectly. Quite demotivated plz help. Thx

Don't be demotivated dear, its normal to face these challenges as a beginner, keep trying. What you should do is to reduce the part that is too voluminous. Stay focused darling.

Yes, you will use same dart but for your hip line, you need to measure from your waist to the fullest part of your hip.

On a average from the waist to hip is about 7 to 9inches depending on the person's body size. However, you can take your own waist to hip measurement by measuring from your waist to the largest part of your hip.
