This makes me so happy and feel comforted just seeing your husband enjoy it! Thank you, thank you. Definitely adding this to my weekday meals rotation.
I've already made this 4 times in 2 months. Family and friends love it. My husband has dibbs on any leftovers! We are all about Faith, Family and Food and your site fits our tastes and budget. It's also the first time I've really cooked any asian dishes other than stir frys with packed mixes. You should see my pantry now....I think I rival the small asian store in town! Thank you for all the great recipes demonstrations and Family stories ❤
My mom made this for us growing up, it was a staple. SO good , filling and nutritious. She taught my German aunt how to make it for her three growing kids- they all loved it. Thanks Flo!
I made this right after I watched your demo. Can I say it is delicious, quick and easy. I just happened to find the SHAO HSING at an asian market and purchased it because I watch you all the time. I must say it's a very good rice wine to cook with. Thanks for sharing I appreciate your simplicity in the kitchen. Stay Blessed....
Looks good. A great idea for ground beef! Another reason to add sesame oil at the end is because it becomes toxic when cooked at high Temps. Also, instead of adding the cornstarch slurry alone, you could add the cornstarch to the beef stock as long as the stock is cold. Finally, I learned the onion chopping method in culinary academy. It's great as long as your knives are sharp. 😉😊
Looks like a fast, delicious meal, with the added benefit of frugality! Who doesn’t love that in today’s world of rocketing prices! Thanks for another great Sunday afternoon video! Sharon🤗
You're great in teaching how to cook😊. You make cooking a bit easier for a newbie like me, and your recipes are fantastic and easy to follow, too! Thanks for sharing. Please do more cooking videos 😊 have a great day🎉
I'll be trying this soon, it looks delicious! Might have to substitute some frozen broccoli for the peas because hubby isn't a fan of peas. Thank you for continuing to share these delicious recipes with us Flo and Dude!
Traditionally chopped lettuce can be used instead and a small knob of butter when done, delish! Sugar snap peas and endaname beans would also be yummy substitutes.
I also don’t really care for peas. Trying to think of some other substitutions. Or I may just double the onion and then put another veggie on the side.
You should it with frozen petite peas, much better than canned peas, a lot of people hate peas because of canned peas, but can enjoy frozen peas because they’re not mushy and way overdone and gross lol
You can kick it up a notch. At the end lightly stir in a scramble egg. I have made this growing up in Brooklyn and we called it Beef and Peas in egg sauce. I was requested to make this almost monthly in college. This can feed a lot of hungry students very cheaply and quickly. The longest wait is, waiting for a huge pot of rice to cook.
Thank you Flo for sharing this recipe! It definitely brings back some fond childhood memories! Topping the beef with a sunny-side-up egg adds extra flavor and nutrients.
Hi Flo and Dude! Made this yesterday with ground chicken. It was so savory and yummy. Just wish I had more chicken to double this recipe!!! It was excellent. Thank you. Many blessings.
My parents used to make this for me all the time while I grew up. It was always economical and so quick to make. My parents used to make a well in the middle of each individual serving and crack a raw egg in it. The heat from the sauce and rice would gently cook it and it would add a luxurious feeling to the sauce. Thank you for sharing the recipe!
This is the 2nd time I've made this dish. It's sooooo delicious. I ended up using ground pork instead of ground beef because that's what I had at home. This dish was sooooo easy to make. My family loved it. I love all of your recipes!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe. Please keep your videos coming!!! ❤😊❤❤😊😊
Grew up eating a variation of this dish, my dad makes it with thinly sliced shiitake mushrooms and more peas, and it’s always gotta be frozen peas because of their better texture. And we just add the peas at the very end so they stay vibrant and sweet. Awesome dish
I made this for dinner last night. When asked what it was called, as I could not remember the title of the video, but did remember that it was from the Flo Lum TH-cam channel, I said the only alliterative name that sprang to mind: Flo Lum's Luscious Beef in a Wok. Making this gave me a chance to use my new carbon-steel for a second time. The dish turned out perfectly, and we all liked it. The only things that I did differently was to use Kecap Manis as I did not have Dark Soy Sauce, to add in some frozen artichoke hearts in addition to the peas and to serve it over rice noodles.
I'm from Macau and this is called menchi. It is also made with ground pork with diced french fries, which is my favorite version. In Thailand they top it with a fried egg, also very nice. Sometimes we make an omelette with the leftover, yummy.
Hello there my friend! I just finished cooking this dish and it is amazing! I only had asparagus so that's what I used instead of the peas. And I used knife cut noodles because I was in the mood for that. The noodles came in a package written in Chinese so I had to Google how to cook something like this, lol! Success! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe and showing us how to make it. Lots of love to you and Dude!
I really love your channel. It makes things so easy to cook and without compromising the nutrition that one need and at a very reasonable cost. God Bless Both of You 😍
I was gifted a 2 pound portion of ground beef (direct from a cattle farm) from a friend. It has been frozen for over a year now in my freezer. Today it’s coming out for this recipe. Looking forward to making it!
Great and easy dish that is extremely tasty. I added the starch when making the sauce and not as a separate mix. Works like a charm and is a bit easier that way.
Simple, budget friendly, and delicious 😋 Thanks for sharing! I’m familiar with this recipe, but I usually use broccoli 🥦, because my son doesn’t like green peas …. But, I definitely will be trying it this way! 😉
Looks yummy. I'll be making this very soon. I love all your recipes. Even bought your cookbooks. Thanks for making meals that are simple, ordinary and delicious 😋
This has kept me fed for the last three days. Very tasty, thanks. I portioned the leftovers out and have been trying them with various things - the last lot I actually reheated in the microwave then added it to a bowl of ramen and beansprouts. So good. The only thing I would add is a little touch of cayenne pepper - not enough to make it really hot, just enough to lift the tatsebuds, so to speak. (not if you're adding it to shin ramyun though - that stuff is more than hot enough._ _ :)
Mmmm, yum! 😋 This is a recipe right up my alley! Easy to prepare and loaded with Asian flavours. While I tease you about your "can't be bothered" gene, Flo, I have to admit, the older I get the lazier a cook I've become so, this type of recipe is right in my wheelhouse! Thanks! 😊😊
We have this exact dish in the Philippines, it’s called ‘ginisang giniling’ meaning sautéed mince. We use beef, pork or chicken mince. The only difference is we add diced potatoes as an extender or to make this dish a full meal even without rice.
I wonder how many cultures have beef and rice recipes? We enjoy something similar, but Anglo, at our house here in Houston. I am making your version tonight! Thanks!
Guess what I'm making!!! Jasmine rice is in my Zojirushi and the instapot is out to cook the meat, because I don't want to make a mess on the stove !! 😃🤩 Wish me luck!! 😉😊🙃
Ok, I made it on the stove! Damn! Holywowzaa !!! It's sooo good & I can't stop eating this! This was so ridiculously easy to make!! Keep these cheap eats recipes coming! Thank you once again !!! 😊😉🙃
Hi Flo and Dude I love all your video's and I bought your cook book Chinese Homestyle. It's an Ebook for kindle, but unfortunately I looked through the whole book for this recipe and it doesn't exist! Good news is, I can go step by step in your video to make this because it looks so yummy. Keep up the good work FYI i'm also from Ontario also, Eastern Ontario, you both ROCK!!
That looks delicious. That will be next weeks dinner. I’m making the egg drop soup with shrimp and tofu. It’s amazingly delicious. I love this channel. Thank you so much for all your delicious and so easy to make meals. Giant hugs 🤗
I miss those Chinese diners as there are very few left in town. But this recipe sure brings back memories. Happy Sunday! 💕
Could we see more of these Sunday dinners they look delish!
The Dragon Inn on Kingsway back in the day. Once a week!
where is the egg??
To me that Chinese cooking wine tastes like a cheap Marsala wine. In the future I am considering that a great substitution when I am out.
I cant take alcohol. What can i use insteaf of wine?
My mom used to make this all the time and I never really appreciated it. Now I CRAVE for this dish 😋
This makes me so happy and feel comforted just seeing your husband enjoy it! Thank you, thank you. Definitely adding this to my weekday meals rotation.

..there can never be a great dish without Garlic!! This looks delish. I made this over the weekend and am enjoying the leftovers.

Me too I can't stand peas. But I don't mind snow peas!

I JUST STARTED WATCHING YOU AND ADORE YOU GUYS! You’re food is realistic and I’m so excited to try.

That sounds delicious! And a way of stretching it even further!
Gilding the lily. Nice
I did that when I made it!!!
When I visited Australia, they put fried runny egg on just about everything. Especially good on ramen.
This looks GOOOOD with that goodly amount of gravy. I will be making this for dinner tomorrow night! Thanks Flo and Dude! and the cats!
LOVE your cook book! I have made about 10 recipes so far and everyone has been a hit!!!!!!!
Hi Flo and Dude! Made this yesterday with ground chicken. It was so savory and yummy. Just wish I had more chicken to double this recipe!!! It was excellent. Thank you. Many blessings.
My cousin made this recipe to try it out and it is by far one of my favorite meals. I'm even eating it now
My parents used to make this for me all the time while I grew up. It was always economical and so quick to make. I often ate this growing up and yes the raw egg on top brings it up to the next level
I’m in awe of not only your cooking skills but your knife skills.
