I'm not up to speed on when facelifts occurred for the rwd Volvos, but this was a May 1984 760 with PRV engine, so from what you've said I would think pre facelift. 4 bolts sounds like a good improvement - this was harder than it had to be. It's even easier on the v70 p80 cars (not sure about 850s) - disconnect the wheel arch lining and then 2 bumper to chassis bolts (one each side) and you're done (ignoring possible fog light wiring).

Is this an pre facelift model? I believe in 1990 they made it a lot easier to remove, just 4 bolts if I’m correct.
