The feeling of arriving back at firelink after spending an eternity in hell is a feeling that will never be topped in videogames.
I'm loving these different formats for the gamescast. Nice duos focusing in on specific games or even having someone like Greg talk straight to the audience and just muse for an hour and give his personal experiences and anecdotes about the things that made a specific game shine to him. Keep up the good work guys👍

Coming off of the initial announcement of this game I wasn't nearly as impressed or even interested in it as much as a lot of other people seemed to be. I'm similar to Tam where non-FromSoft Soulslikes just never scratch that itch and often really do feel like cheap imitations. Getting my hands on the demo that they released a while back, after watching Andy mess around a bit with it on a stream, I did a complete 180. Especially after getting a taste of the system mechanics like the weapon customizations and hints of the skill tree which was what ended up pulling me in the most, on top of the final boss of that demo being fun as hell to figure out. I'm glad that Blessing is pretty much reaffirming that that shit is even more dope to mess around with

@@producedagains808 i don't really enjoy punishing repetition (boss fights). I'll grind through a Rogue Legacy, or a Noita... but those are procedural punishment. I'd get bored having to farm enemies (as Bless pointed out in Lies of P), or having to fight the same boss for 3 hours over and over like a Souls game

Great job hosting Andy! I will get to this at some point but I still have to finish the Fromsoft Souls catalogue. I’ve beaten Demons Souls remake, Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne and Elden ring. I just got my Bloodborne platinum and it is my favorite so far now I have gone back to Demons Souls PS5 for the platinum because the game just looks stunning. I think I will go to Sekiro. I just can’t justify buying and playing another “soulslike” until I have paid my respects to all the true source material.

For those who didn't play the demo. The deflection works like Sekiro's, it doesn't disbalance the enemy for a riposte like in BB.
Standard block: recoverable hp loss (easy but costly)
Perfect guard: no hp loss and build enemy's nonvisible stagger meter. eg. When the Watchman boss does a chain attack, chain deflections are needed.
This is the core part of the game and everything else is built around it. The nerfed roll during lock on is to encourage deflection.

I would say technique was only hard because i used the rapier but honestly once you get the booster glaive weapon the game becomes ridiculously easy
I’m not great at these types of games but I can usually power my way through. I do find some boss fights to be unfair, especially the ones that require you to (spoiler) beat them twice. This game will kick your butt.

Glad we had Andy and Bless for this review. I wish I could stick to soul games, but always find them too long. This game looks short enough to not hit my time quiting time for souls games. Now I want a souls game that is a nintendo cute and looks bright and happy.

@@dirizarr well, 2 is the longest after ER and DS1 is more easy to get lost. DS3, BB and Sekiro are all like 20hr games.

So when is Blessing going to play Dark Souls?. He keeps saying he loves Souls-likes yet hes never played Dark Souls which isnt only the daddy of the genre, and it isnt only the best game in the genre, but IMO it is literally the best game ever made.
I know he wants to. I think he needs to play off-stream though, at a time with fewer new releases. He tried playing during an afternoon stream and was derailed by way too much guidance from Tam and chat and off-topic banter from Kevin.

So going through old episodes of game scoop and on episode 248 Greg Miller says that the only reason for leaving ign would be because the video game industry has crashed also mentions playing a game on console because he hasn't built his gaming PC yet lol crazy how things change

There's a lot of people who don't give a damn about the music or the story and i have a huge bias to those people
Hmm, i never really cared for the souls/borne games because the combat always came off as slow to me. ( please correct me if im wrong because ive always been intrigued by the games) On the flip side, i love nioh because if i wanted, i could turn the game into basically dmc or ninja gaiden.
The way im understanding it, technique is light weapons and from the tidbit in the video, it looks like i can do more than 4-5 hits. So in a sense, technique is for light builds? If so, im getting more intrigued. I always thought the design and world looked sick, but if i can build my character the way im imagining, yeah, definitely might pick this one up.
Personally I feel like that is a popular misconception about these games. Souls combat is kind of as slow or fast as you want to make it. Even in the first Dark Souls you can play as a slow, clunky armored dude with a big ass sword or you can play completely naked, fast rolling all over the place with a little dagger like some coked up Ninja.
it's not quite a typical souls game, but Sekiro is my favourite FromSoft game. The combat is lightening fast and absolutely requires precise timing and for you to understand and learn to parry and counter. I highly recommend that if you need faster combat :)

I like all the reviews I've heard so far! And loved how it looked in previews. My problem is I didn't like the demo, I wasn't impressed, I felt the character movement was slow and clunky. I didn't think combat was very good, also the section of the game the demo took place, to me wasn't impressive at all. Not alot of enemies. So I do want to buy the game, but all that's holding me back. Do u all think I should just buy it??
