    Great video Julian! I took the plunge after seeing this and bought the interface. Now I need a recommendation for an Android mobile device as my Android phone creates so much QRM it’s unusable. Any suggestions?

    Well I went ahead and tried the wolphilink , set up after a short time, 5 min , I was able to make my first contact in Luwuk Indonesia from Ventura California at a distance of 12603 km. Makes QRP a hole new ballgame.

    Love you videos! Any ideas what settings to use for the IC-7300 and Wolphi?

    I wonder if there will be a USB version someday. My new phone doesn't have the audio port.

    In this video, the waterfall is shown in the app screen, so I have a question. In this video, was WolphiLink being used in conjunction with the 817 Panadapter?

    • @OH8STN
      @OH8STN  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +peccatumDei great question.
      The waterfall in this he's came directly through the audio stream from the data port on the 817 through the WolphiLink. It's Antelope audio.

    I have the newer FT-818. Menu 26 also has PSK31 U and PSK31 L as available options. Should I still select USER-U?

    Anyone make this thing work on a TS-480SAT? Any special settings on the radio? Seems like I have it working but have to run ssb and not fsk. Owners manual says to run fsk mode on digital transmissions but doesn't seem to sound right on other end. Still need to do more tests but wondered if anyone had any pointers. 73

    have you ever had to readjust the internal setting on the Wolphilink when using it on the same radio

    • @OH8STN
      @OH8STN  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Patrick Champa Good question. only when the audio output of the Android device changes . I always set the android volume to max, to keep the wolphilink seeing constant.

      OH8STN SurvivalTech Nord thank you for the information and great to know. trying to setup my 817 in a small field ready manpack, and trying to keep it as closed off to elements and protected as possible. I was thinking it wouldn't be fun to have to readjust the Wolphilink in wet/damp weather. thinking about purchasing a midsized tablet strictly for radio use maybe best. many apps on my main (mainly home used 12") tablet will change audio levels when the app is used. love the videos and information, keep up the great work 73

      +Patrick Champa I agree with you! The dedicated tablet is the way to go. I have the Nexus 9, and previously Samsung Galaxy tab 8.9. WolphiLink on both and never have to change the levels once in dial them in. I've been wondering about an ft817 mounted in a back pack or shoulder sack. Only having the beef to bring the tablet out for digital comms and logging. Would love to set what you come up with.

      OH8STN SurvivalTech Nord I'm using a small Sherpa Pack I purchased from Zero Portable. I also ended up buying radio gaurd from them because Chameleon was out. The Sherpa Pack is small and meant to be slung over a shoulder. It holds the radio, a 817 tuner, and has pouches for external batteries and so on, even the Wolphilink. The pack could be a bit deeper and it had a waist strap which I removed. I setting it up so the radio will stay in the pack when operated by running mic, audio, acc, and etc lines inside the pack itself. once finished it should be a nice portable little pack. I'm sure other packs would do as well or better. but the small pack really makes you focus on keeping it simple, but the pack holds enough to get it on the air using voice and a random/sloper... it's still a work in project, the tablet and any specialized antenna will need to be carried separate. I'll send photos once I'm finished. I want to make a full backpack using my 857 but that's another day and a different project.

    I am using a Samsung 10.1 Note with the Wolphilink. It seems only the 2 top Macros will work. Do you have any suggestions on why the rest of the Macros don't work ? Thanks

    • @OH8STN
      @OH8STN  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Peter.
      The only time I've had trouble with macros was when I have forgotten to put start & stop syntax. After that I stopped trying to create the macros on my own and I copied the ones that came pre-loaded, and edited them.
      That's about all I can think of.
      I hope this helps 73 and thanks for watching.

      +Peter Hutchings Thanks I'll try that ... Also......... thanks for the video's ... very informative ... and great explainations that you can understand at a nice speed .... for us over 60 LOL .... Keep up the good work.

      +Peter Hutchings Well I think I found the major problem with the Macros. You cannot have a space at the beginning of a line. Also some of the included macros did not have a stop and start. Looks like I"m on the way now. Thanks for all your help !!

    why are you setting menu #26 to user U instead of PSK U?

    • @OH8STN

      Good catch. Because I am using many other digital modes than PSK.

      So, USER-U allows many digital modes (including PSK31)? Or is using PSK31 you must selection PSK31 U?

    So if i made a cable for an HT, would the wolfilink work with that? Or is the power coming from one of the pins in the yaesu?

    • @OH8STN
      @OH8STN  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it would but you have to take care of about rfi messing with the WolphiLink. If I were going to do this with an HT, I'd make a cable and usd vox f.or ptt

      OH8STN I noticed that you have a wolfilink and a mobilinkd TNC2. Can they do each others job? For instance, can you use the mobilinkd for droidPSK and the wolfilink for APRS?
