i think tommy's perspective on the state of the internet is super important. he kind of popped up at the perfect intersection of internet history (after edgy 2015's content and the adpocalypse, during minecraft's resurgence, and before the tiktok-ification/corporatization of TH-cam). he was a child in a room full of adults, and he had to find out that many of those adults were shitty people. despite whatever money you're making or status you've achieved, that's a hard thing to deal with. it's honestly been a miracle to see that tommy has made it out of so many strange/toxic situations and remained true to himself despite the newfound celebrity and the mental damage that can do. hopefully we can make it out okay.
I've been on the Internet since Call of Duty and Halo were at its prime in 2009 and after school activities was filled with playing the Xbox and Wii when I was 5 and saw TH-cam going from just skit videos and Half-Life Linkin Park parodies to the slop it is now and despite so many bad creators, TommyInnit was one of the only creators I have really liked and stuck with for a long time. So many other TH-camrs just got worn out (like all the Anti-SJW and Breadtube stuff I used to watch, Faze Clan, Twitch Streamers, and Commentary TH-camrs), but Tommy kept on creating stuff that was unique and interesting and didn't reduce himself to reaction videos or tiktoks or some idiot reading off of a script. He actually went out and created stuff. I have cleared out my subscriptions from 400 to only having 6 left, one of which is Tommy. He is just a month older than me and he is a genuine inspiration for who I am.

It's so weird, everyone was making jokes about a specific situation.. they were my favorite content creator for their policies, now I just feel weird when I hear them being mentioned because they practically lied in what they believed in. I'm an art major and all my work this year has been about how much worse internet addiction is than anyone understands. We were meant to be bored, it's the fuel for creativity and self creation. I needed it as a kid because I was being left alone and neglected -- it was my outlet to the outside world. But it's so different now I don't think kids now are going to have the same experience with it that I did, I think it will just try to make them become terimanlly addicted.

i tried to find all the messages post 2:20, and damn. all these hit home, even if they weren't all too relatable, i can't remember specific days because of how bad the people in my life were then, and i used to want attention because the people around me gave me what i thought attention was. the internet changed from back then, from the days where i could be in my bed, all covered in a blanket watching ludwig and dantdm, and now it's this sick, toxic cesspool full of bots and negative feelings. where did we go wrong? bottom line is, you've got this tom. wherever you go, we'll have your back, whether you're TommyInnit, or Tom Simons. be greater. be yourself.
...Shall I make an artistic review? I'm very much aware that it isn't the singing pitch that would be the priority but rather the sincerity, and while I'm still getting used to such a move after training for a long time to perfect my voice, this is definitely one of these big favorites for me with that style. The rap part caught me off-guard and felt a little out of place but I'm guessing that it's intentional. The message as a whole is considerably relevant in this period of the internet. Not only have things soured in the digital society, but in the world as a whole. Tom perfectly captured the optimism and hopelessness as one bittersweet melody in his vocals. As for the backing track, it's very well-made. A progression reminiscent of seeing the night sky in a place without as much air pollution as your residence. It's like being a child and realizing that the people you looked up to may very well have horrendous personalities hidden within, which I see in the comments is how they interpret Simons to have gone through throughout his career. It's a shame, really, that this had to be the outcome of a lost era where things "used to be good," until you realize that we've only seen the smaller picture. I wish Tom's artistic passions, including comedy, continues to flourish and reach the world completely. This song deserved to be what it is: a reminder of the reality we live in. 7.75/10.

I mean, I really cannot imagine what you’re going through, but the people who care about you because we’ve stuck around for a while, you could retire tomorrow and we’d support you all the way though it. It started before that. Once people realized they could abuse it to make money it got bad, which was not long after it was created. Amazon for example was a multi-million dollar corportation by the early 2000's all from running a large online store. Also many of todays big TH-camrs that are making videos that are optomized to get views simply for money reasons, such as MrBeast, started making those optomized videos years before covid ever happened.

I just watched all the Texts between 2:50 and 3:14 and I can agree with you. Somehow as you grew older you saw more bad sides of all this wide Web thing and being able to talk to everybody and nobody at the same time. It is sad and I bet just disconnecting is the best way to get the best view and least pressure these days.
The text interspersed in the video so minutely even looking at the individual frames is phenomenal. It feels like when I post an Instagram story or a tweet and delete it seconds later, too scared to let myself be heard. This has put my thoughts of how the direction content on the internet is going in a video. Wow. It’s nice seeing when creators don’t try to look at everything through rose colored glasses and pretend nothing is changing when everything is. Everything has. The text that had flashed up just proves this isn’t just some shit post. It’s genuine. I see so many people saying ‘I wish I can go back to when the internet was better and more healthy’ but really, there’s never been much of a better internet, what everyone envisioned as a better internet and better time was when they were ignorant and weren’t so aware. It was never better, it was just us trying to find comfort and happiness in the past because the future isn’t going in any better direction. Love seeing creators doing stuff they wish to do and being original, or carving their pathway to be original rather than becoming rage bait, content farms, ect.

Do I like the song? No, I wouldn't listen to it on loop. Does that matter? No, it never did. Did this song do what it was supposed to do? Yes, and that is the important part of it all, it's acknowledging how bad the internet is getting. I felt that
i think tommy's perspective on the state of the internet is super important. he kind of popped up at the perfect intersection of internet history (after edgy 2015's content and the adpocalypse, during minecraft's resurgence, and before the tiktok-ification/corporatization of TH-cam). he was a child in a room full of adults, and he had to find out that many of those adults were shitty people. despite whatever money you're making or status you've achieved, that's a hard thing to deal with. it's honestly been a miracle to see that tommy has made it out of so many strange/toxic situations and remained true to himself despite the newfound celebrity and the mental damage that can do. hopefully we can make it out okay.
I've been on the Internet since Call of Duty and Halo were at its prime in 2009 and after school activities was filled with playing the Xbox and Wii when I was 5 and saw TH-cam going from just skit videos and Half-Life Linkin Park parodies to the slop it is now and despite so many bad creators, TommyInnit was one of the only creators I have really liked and stuck with for a long time. So many other TH-camrs just got worn out (like all the Anti-SJW and Breadtube stuff I used to watch, Faze Clan, Twitch Streamers, and Commentary TH-camrs), but Tommy kept on creating stuff that was unique and interesting and didn't reduce himself to reaction videos or tiktoks or some idiot reading off of a script. He actually went out and created stuff. I have cleared out my subscriptions from 400 to only having 6 left, one of which is Tommy. He is just a month older than me and he is a genuine inspiration for who I am.

I'm an art major and all my work this year has been about how much worse internet addiction is than anyone understands. We were meant to be bored, it's the fuel for creativity and self creation. I needed it as a kid because I was being left alone and neglected -- it was my outlet to the outside world. But it's so different now I don't think kids now are going to have the same experience with it that I did, I think it will just try to make them become terimanlly addicted.

Honestly Technoblade was probably one of the very few people that actually said who he was, because he just wanted to live life while he could with the people he cared about. I'm very much aware that it isn't the singing pitch that would be the priority but rather the sincerity, and while I'm still getting used to such a move after training for a long time to perfect my voice, this is definitely one of these big favorites for me with that style.
The rap part caught me off-guard and felt a little out of place but I'm guessing that it's intentional. The message as a whole is considerably relevant in this period of the internet. Not only have things soured in the digital society, but in the world as a whole. Tom perfectly captured the optimism and hopelessness as one bittersweet melody in his vocals.
As for the backing track, it's very well-made. A progression reminiscent of seeing the night sky in a place without as much air pollution as your residence. It's like being a child and realizing that the people you looked up to may very well have horrendous personalities hidden within, which I see in the comments is how they interpret Simons to have gone through throughout his career.
It's a shame, really, that this had to be the outcome of a lost era where things "used to be good," until you realize that we've only seen the smaller picture. I wish Tom's artistic passions, including comedy, continues to flourish and reach the world completely. This song deserved to be what it is: a reminder of the reality we live in. 7.75/10.

It started before that. Once people realized they could abuse it to make money it got bad, which was not long after it was created. Amazon for example was a multi-million dollar corportation by the early 2000's all from running a large online store. Also many of todays big TH-camrs that are making videos that are optomized to get views simply for money reasons, such as MrBeast, started making those optomized videos years before covid ever happened.

i think...i like this new tom simons. As someone who probably stayed connected to the internet deeply during the entirety of the pandemic, and after such, it feels so different nowadays than before. And, seeing people like tom also grow to learn and realize new things since then and change to become different from his past gives me the sense that hes become much more mature since then. The text interspersed in the video so minutely even looking at the individual frames is phenomenal. It feels like when I post an Instagram story or a tweet and delete it seconds later, too scared to let myself be heard. Or when I mention something to my therapist and move on in the next breath, too deep to truly dissect it without hitting my own bone. I’m 20 and have been in a 2 year relationship since a few months after I turned 18. Finding myself now feels like popping a bubble and wanting to be free. I’ve been like a dog clawing at the door to be let out. It always amazes me how so many of us are going through the same thing at the same time. I think this is my sign to delete all my social media and live life without the pretenses. Tom, if you’re ever on the east coast of the US, we should get coffee and discuss the brainrot culture of social media and how it’s been desensitizing us for years. “How could anyone possibly find out who they are when you are all immersed in the needless, self indulgent spiral of instant gratification and distraction. Sometimes ill go back and watch the old videos, but i would have to skip parts because of people in them that make my stomach churn, everyone i use to watch seems to either be a bad person or trying to spread information, and im glad tom isn't a bad one, hes amazing. This has put my thoughts of how the direction content on the internet is going in a video. Wow. It’s nice seeing when creators don’t try to look at everything through rose colored glasses and pretend nothing is changing when everything is. Everything has. The text that had flashed up just proves this isn’t just some shit post. It’s genuine. I see so many people saying ‘I wish I can go back to when the internet was better and more healthy’ but really, there’s never been much of a better internet, what everyone envisioned as a better internet and better time was when they were ignorant and weren’t so aware. It was never better, it was just us trying to find comfort and happiness in the past because the future isn’t going in any better direction. Love seeing creators doing stuff they wish to do and being original, or carving their pathway to be original rather than becoming rage bait, content farms, ect.

This one hits hard. It's a feeling I very much agree with. The internet has just become this soulless, mindless place where bots and attention seekers scream for your views just to make a quick buck. A place where so many people you used to trust just turned out to be absolutely horrible. The videos you used to love now unwatchable because of the people in it. The things you used to enjoy now drowned in controversy. The places you felt safe in overrun by all different kinds of terrible people who are actively searching to make your life worse. Misinformation, echo chambers, screaming matches, bots, liars, on and on it goes. It's so sad that we have this wonderful medium that can connect everyone around the world and we're using it for negativity... And the worst part? Watching how your content has evolved into purely something you enjoy and not what grabs the most attention is heartwarming because I was never here for what the viewers liked.
