Me and and my hubby fell in love listening to crystal gayle and we were only in our young 20's were now both in our 40's and it's never left us the special meaning her songs have for us....brilliant...the best...;-)
i have listened to CG since I was a young boy. I am now 35yo and have since branched off to other genres of music. But I always come back around to CG. She takes me back to very fond childhood memories. She is one of country musics greats and this song is one of her best.
I too grew up listening to her. Wow it seems it gets better I'm referring to her voice. Didn't realize how awesome her music really is. Will listen to her till I die.
I bought this LP back in the day and still have it....Its still in perfect condition and has a centerfold of Crystal that is amazing. She is still the babe and sounds as good now as she did back in the day. While their a lot of great singers in the business she is still has it and after all these years has that jaw dropping I can't believe beauty that can put woman half her age to shame....God has been good to her.
Within the widest definitions of country music, now and then an iconic, unforgettable timeless song emerges that invades the senses, soothes the mind, and refreshes the spirit in all of us in an ultimate country tradition. It ticks all the boxes. It embraces sadness and elation in equal measure. (I suppose depending on where you are in your life right now!) This song is number one on my desert island discs list. Ray
I had a cassette tape of hers when I was still at school, and played it till it stretched. I loved this song back then, and now in my forties, I have rediscovered it from an adult point of view, and think it's even more fantastic. She has an amazing, clear, sweet voice, and I also hadn't realised just how beautiful she was, and is! My goodness, what a talent. I'm going to go and look for some more of her music and rekindle my love of her music. Superb.
@@richardblum8542 Well, thanks ... but, sorry, no thanks. From Wikipedia: '"Ready for the Times to Get Better" is a song written by Allen Reynolds, and recorded by American country music artist Crystal Gayle...' But, whatever. Love her version.
@@richardblum8542 What I'd say regarding "interpretation" is that any performance of a piece of music, no matter who did it or when it was performed (for the first time or in the last 5 minutes) is an "interpretation". Again: whatever. Love her version of it.
@cbrouma8014 As a second bumper music song which came later when Bell developed that program. But Waiting for the Times to Get Better came first which is how I originally noticed Art Bell's late night talk program to begin with.
Heard this on Art Bell a few times. Now that I’ve found the full song and hear the title and lyrics I’m in tears saying out loud to myself this is brilliant. The song she did for Art, Midnight in the Desert is amazing too. Dude Crystal Gayle is awesome.
@@marcusharmon8577 Just heard on Heather Wade, show The Kingdom of Nye. Also she linked to the great late Art Bell. Great song..and Midnight in the Desert.
I heard this song on Art Bell a lot too ... however the first time I ever heard it was probably in my mom's 1972 Impala as she drove us to school sometime around 1978ish. Lots of memories from both.
My favorite live song by her seen her 15 times in concert got back stage and met her once use to live next door to someone who drove her tour bus here in Gainesville Texas
A #1 hit for Crystal Gayle on the Country & Western charts. It was the 433rd #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #3 on the Adult Contemporary charts. In Canada, it hit #1 on the C&W charts and #4 on the AC charts. I saw Crystal Gayle on May 25, 1987 (Memorial Day) at the Busch Gardens Amusement Park in Williamsburg, VA. She opened for The Charlie Daniels Band.
This is my theme song lol. I was in a very unwanted relationship. That period of my life is thankfully over. But this song conveys everything I was feeling before I got out. It really speaks to me
Crystal is awesome. I met her for a few minutes after a wonderful performance at the NC State fair. She shook hands with me and she had the tiniest hands!
I had a Crystal Gayle record (vinyl) as a child and it was one of my favourites. When I Dream is the best she ever did but this comes pretty high on the list.
@caliokieboi I met her family when I was a teen. When I was totally in love with her. My first time on stage I sang in a competition to a standing only crowd I was only 15 and scared to death..I sang Crystal's music........in memory of my grandpa William Keller. and well I placed 16th out of 40 bands etc...and I will never forget that I sang on the same stage as Crystal Gayle, my first time in front of an audience. It was in Johnny's in Custer, MI. God Love You Crystal.

WOW...her voice is really pretty. One things I do not like about a lot of popular singers now a days is their voice..it is not "pretty" or full of soul...it does not envoke a deeper response. This voice....it makes you want to listen, it has heart to it. Really nice.
I remember bein a little boy and Mama would have a cassette of Crystal Gale and on the cover she was standing on a ship and all that beautiful hair was hanging over the side of the ship. I thought it was so beautiful and her blue eyes. But the tape got left in the middle of the seat and we went in Price-Lo to buy grocery's and it got melted by the sun. That was back in the 80s. I wish I could find them CDs or the cassetes or even an 8track will do, I've got all 3 players and they work.
Beautiful song and certainly THE title for the times: it’s been a too long time with no peace of mind and I’m ready for the times to get better. Maybe beginning November 3.
I'm up here talking to my friend, 1:00 in the morning and just flicking through the channels, when all of a sudden they flash this beautiful woman, across the screen. And an old familiarity finally came back to me. One i had forgotten since 1982. I said to myself, Its Crystal Gayle! Wow wat a beatidul woman I immediately searrched for her on yt. I must say that she is devistatingly beautiful. Hauntingly rather. And can som1 tell me, Did she sing the closing song for c2c AM/ArtBell "Midnight in
@lainey1k.... I had a similar experience. Loved her music in the '70-'80s but then work and family duties intervened. Once retired, I had the time to rediscover and rekindle my appreciation of her and her music. These clips on YT helped to facilitate that effort. Having attended 6 of her concerts over the last couple of years, I can attest that she is still the same beautiful, talented, and humble lady we have always known her to be. BTW, she performed in Ireland and Switzerland last year.
Great song. Now I remember where I got the strumming idea from for one of my songs called " I''LL Find A New Love" I would play this song alot. Everysong on this Album of heres is good. Back in those days, usually only one or two of the songs on an album were any good.
I'd like to nominate this song as the theme for the 2020s.

This is April 2020 and Covid 19 is terrible. Thousands have died and over half a million people have suffered from it. This song hits home. Thank you.
We sincerely need this sound and beautiful soul during this overwhelming COVID-19 era.
Was listening to an old Coast To Coast AM show with Art Bell from the mid 90s. He loved him some Crystal Gayle.
This song is timeless.
Midnight in the desert she wrote that song especially for art bell
STUNNING WOMAN WHO CHOSE THE SONGS THAT FIT HER .GREAT VOICE.
We have Allen Reynolds to thank for that. He's her producer for these albums.
I've been waiting for a long time and still am.

GREAT song, great interpretation by Ms. Gayle.
DL Weston it’s not an interpretation. It’s her song. She recorded it first. Everything else is an interpretation
