I’m in hard times right now. I fell into a music wormhole and found this. The tune, the tone, the feel, the lyrics. Man it’s perfect. Thank you music gods for the song.
Oh doc was the best teacher I ever had. Watching him, play. I learned so much about alternate picking and using my thumb. I'm,glad I got see him, before he passed on,,,,.
"Ready for the Times to Get Better" is a song written by Allen Reynolds, and recorded by American country music artist Crystal Gayle. It was released in January 1978 as the fourth single from the album Crystal. "Ready for the Times to Get Better" was Gayle's fourth number one on the U.S Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. The single stayed at number one for one week and spent a total of ten weeks on the chart.
I like this original version rather than the Crystal Gayle one. I have written some additional verses mainly because i am going through cancer treatments. I hope I don't offend Doc Watson. I have found some solace in the lyrics!
Respectfully, I don't think his version compares favorably to Doc's. It's too fast (IMO), and his voice isn't nearly as good as Doc's. That said, pleasant enough though.

The folks talking while Doc played must have had some really important things to say. I was lucky to see him perform a few times. I was entranced.
Watching this at least once a day at the moment - "a long long time with no peace of mind and I'm ready for the times to get better".
Even he tears up as he sing it
I can’t sing it without my voice breaking
It’s too good
Listening to this song from time to time gives me strength to carry on.

Who disliked this! And why? We are talking about the best musician that ever lived!
God blessed this man
