The Great Luigi Circuit Disaster is remembered now as the worst tragedy in Mario Kart Racing. In an unforeseen move, baby daisy starts mashing the ground really fast and it propels her into the air and over the invisible wall constructed and ends up killing dozens of fans and injuring several others. After MK7 Lakitu would continue suffer serious PTSD from this event and in the brand new MK8 association would save individuals far before they could even come close to falling off the track, sometimes even interfering with what the racers believed should be valid shortcuts. There has never been a game breaking shortcut since.
With the outlier being Big Blue, where there are nearly no fans seeing the chaos which is right drifting and pulling up on the joystick on 200cc which skips all of lap 2.

Sadly, I don’t think so
If you’re thinking it will do what it does in Mario Kart 64 then no you can’t do an ultra shortcut by respawning after hitting the finish line OOB
