this guy. i have been looking for this video!! ever sense this dude ive been wanting to b on modern drummer, hes a good inspiration to me as a drummer, amazing drummer
He's even better now. So good that it defies description. He has more solos posted on the the tube under his name. You may not believe what you're seeng. he's that good.
@PestVic If I remember correctly, it is what they called the "Workshop Series" They were pre Pacific/PDP... At firts they had the same shells and small lugs like the old micros, but only a few kits got out, then they kept changing everything around. Ended up scrapping the whole thing. These were the first drums built down in the Mexico plant.
Very nice well executed no-bullshit solo. Snare and tom roll based solo with some bad ass speed and skill potrayed there. Like the splash-china hybrid cymbal on the far left of the kit too
He is crazy fast, but aside from that it was a very well constructed solo. I remember seeing this originally on the modern drummer dvd and was blown away by it more than I was mike portnoy's performance on the same video.
@PestVic I've heard very good drummers that use double bass tastefully, I'm just saying that it's the same two drums with the same two tones...why not have some other instrument being played with the left and right foot instead of two of the same drums...plus it's cooler when someone can make a single pedal sound like a double.
and I'd love to hear a track, where Mike plays ... obviously, the guy is very talented... I'd like to hear the music play :) ps: I'm not one of those people who go around and sh*t ... Rather, I'm interested :)
Super cool! I said technique is here ! but, anyone can do it! The drum solo can be a musical, too, you know ...;) You should understand that if you're a musician. Noise should be organized. :) Cheers!
Still amazed in 2022
From back in the day! Sweet!
Excellent !!! If I closed my eyes I can ear Marco Minnemann playing !!! Very high level ORRIS !!! 👋

His smile as he was blasting at the end is the cherry on top lol
