Not only did you grind by restarting over and over again and had probably a couple of longer runs which were unsuccessful in the end, but you also explained everything in each of those attempts, the amount of work for this video is much more than we see on screen, thanks man.
I know this took multiple tries and we only get to see the luckiest attempt, but there is still such an insane amount of planning and foresight involved in this. You're a master.
These super in depth playthroughs are inspiring to life in general. I can only hope to translate this amount of analysis to my day to day life, all the details and strategies you use... Awesome! Really enjoying these, thank you for the great content
Hitting one chariot in an entire run with tarot tycoon is absolutely horrible luck lmao Also he called the ace wrong, right after talking abt lacking perfect info he draws the one he didn’t make steel lmao. Ggs prof
New to balatro here. Have to say this hurt my heart. Kinda think this was against the spirit of the run. Otherwise, very educational, very entertaining. Great run
@@caesersseizrs I didn't feel like it was against the spirit of the run. The reason Jokerless makes the game near impossible is because you get no extra point scaling, not because you don't get the income from selling them. Using Soul for $10 is equivalent to rolling a shitty Hermit.
I just completed my first Jokerless run today. It was on white stake using the Abandoned Deck with Saturn. I probably couldn’t have done it without you.
This kinda run is what truely shows the mastery of the game. Only thing that can be done a bit differently is maybe limiting the number of standard pack purchases(after getting the good ace) and focus a bit more money on tarot cards through rerolls. But this is subjective. Feel kind of the same about the celestial packs towards the end, maybe mars isnt good enough when u already have a strong 4 of a kind leveled up
At 1:28:07, why make an Ace that you want to play into a steel card, instead of a non-ace, that won't be a card you want to play anyways? Is the potential extra card discarded worth the risk of having to play the steel card instead of keeping it in your hand? Impressive run, this was a blast to watch!
The idea behind making aces steel (or blue seal) is that you already want to draw into these cards to play them, and if you're thinning the deck to get aces more often you will end up drawing more aces than you need sometimes, which is when they come in handy to leave in hand. And when you don't draw more than you need, you can still play a steel ace or a blue seal ace. It basically removes the temptation to hold onto a card you don't want to play at all and end up without your winning hand because you didn't dig deep enough. Instead, if you make it easier to dig for your hand first, you will end up with it sooner and can actually afford to dig for stuff like blue seals without losing.
The one saving grace of a run like this is that it’s basically purple stake since everything after purple was changed to just affect Jokers. I wonder if this’d even be possible pre 1.01f.
As someone who just started playing the game, I’m really surprised to hear that black deck is so bad, it’s actually been the only one I’ve found success on
1:27:38 a better (though not answerable with current processing power i'm afraid) question is: is it possible to win a game on random seed every time? This is equivalent to finding an algorithm that can beat any seed not knowing what seed it's on. To create that algorithm you could look at the set of all seeds, but when you start the run it can't use any information about the specific seed you're playing on (since it doesnt't know what seed that is). The algorithm itself can be super complex, for example the moment you see ante 1 skip rewards already we can exclude a decent amount of seeds we can be on. Then, when you see the first shop, you can exclude another huge amount of seeds (obviously still with a crazy n.o. seeds possible).
Sorry I'm late to the party here, but I have a question. Around 30:30 you found your +mult Ace of clubs, and decided to ship four of a kind instead of five of a kind. I'm just wondering about your reasoning there, I could see it just being an automatic decision (because you've already committed to Mars/4 of a kind) or something else, like it being too difficult to get enough planet X cards or something. My best high stakes runs have almost all been 5 of a kind Ace runs, which is why I'm wondering. Thanks for the content :)
Blue seals give you a planet for whatever hand won the round while the blue seal is in hand, so you have to be careful not to accidentally win with the wrong hand.
I think that holding the justice for future consistency is incorrect since it locks you out of finding more justices in your tarot packs, and the value of getting more chances at finding more glasses is better than the consistency of a pocket justice, right?
55:55 These 4 aces would be enough: (420+44+90)*(43+30) = 40442. you have 3 holographic for +30 mult, and 3 bonus for +90 chips. good run haha. I need to learn how you deduce hidden cards, time to scrounge the wiki.
For the last hand, I was wondering why you glassed the normal over the bonus ace, then I remembered you can't have both bonus and glass. Even if you could, that's still 10,780 short.
@balatro university, how do you value standard packs? Often early on i skip them, but at best i take them mid/lategame for seals and sometimes more fibbonaci triggers or whatever other joker im building around.
Winning with Black Deck is annoying Winning on Gold Stake is irritating Winning Jokerless is challenging Any combination of the three would be a hellish experience for me.
1:16:06
"I think the gambit was worth it"
*loud glass breaking sound*
"I have deep regrets..."
The glass shattered and so did his soul
"This has taken a turn..."
1:24:28 ouch man, ouch
That felt personal.
I screamed out, "nooo!" during that part ... painful
Not only did you grind by restarting over and over again and had probably a couple of longer runs which were unsuccessful in the end, but you also explained everything in each of those attempts, the amount of work for this video is much more than we see on screen, thanks man.
Professional, do not attempt.
To even make it that far into ante 8 on jokerless gold stake black deck is mental.
Insane run doc.
you know its serious when professor uses calculator🤣
cackalated.
At this rate, BU could play actual solitaire in front of his PC and still somehow win Gold Stake.
I've watched until the end and I must say that is still the most impressive run I've seen until now.
It's up there
If its up there then what’s the most impressive run
I know this took multiple tries and we only get to see the luckiest attempt, but there is still such an insane amount of planning and foresight involved in this. You're a master.
You know what, that counts. A man can only survive so many dog water hands in his run. Also, that glass break, my heart.

Balatro out of context:
8:08 "your anus is not really what i'm looking for here, I'm going to have to decline your anus"
1:04:56 "now this... is a sexy hand"
8:50 “I won’t see your anus anymore” ☹️😔

i think you're actually insane
All this YT money and he hasn’t fixed his raggedy shirt sleeves. Obvs insane.
I thought about it but I didn't think even you would push it that far
Update: I finished the video and I am emotionally devastated, I was so invested 😭

This was an absolutely insane run. Loved every minute of it.
Goodness ante 7 was brutal. I won’t say more than that, for spoilers, but man I was at the edge of my seat! GGs prof

Don't feel bad; Uranus is right for somebody.

the amount of times i hid my face and winced because of how nervous i was watching proves how mental this run is
this is my favorite video of yours ever, even though you lose. keeps me on the edge of my seat every time.
Woah, I gotta respect the sheer amount of thought you put into every move you make.
How the hell are you able to say “I won’t see Uranus anymore” without even a chuckle?
i never realised how brutal the ante scaling is

Hey, using your guide I was able to beat black deck gold stake on my second attempt. Granted, dumb luck with a perishable riff raff, but still.

Haven't finished the video but the deduction on the Wheel and then subsequent run-saving Death/Fool was masterful
This was such a pleasure to watch. A truly awesome run!
9:40 the run was definitely worth sharing. I didn't realize how much research was put into finding a seed to make this possible.
I'm devastated
Holy shit, this was heartbreaking 😭😭
Still great job on getting so far, fantastic show of skill
I know this isn't the purpose of the video, but watching it helped me complete the jokerless challenge. Thanks!
these runs have gotten so thrilling that i can't even look at the comments cuz i hate seeing spoilers
Oh so _this_ it what it takes to see the doc struggling as much as i do (except that i get to use jokers and any other deck) 😂
The one saving grace of a run like this is that it’s basically purple stake since everything after purple was changed to just affect Jokers. I wonder if this’d even be possible pre 1.01f.
"Jokerless balatro" said with the same cadence as "fatherless behavior"
Watching both those glass As break was soul crushing
"i wont see uranus anymore" bro, that get's memories from my ex
Jokerless ruined no way!!! Great run man thanks for the content
I'm so sad he didn't get away with it 😢
What a run! You can go all the way. Just gotta get the glass cards to play along. Long streak with few arcana packs in the middle.
I miss the old doc, really humble. Now he is just a sassy goblin 😥
At this point, rocket science sounds more attractive than usual.
It’s 3 am I’ll start watching it and maybe finish it tomorrow.
It’s 4:30am now and I can only say wow, what a crazy run

8:11 well okay then

I think its not Jokerless, like buy the egg to sell it after
But great video !
Great job dude. I’m still losing on the starting stake lol.
I’m going to start using the rotisserie expression at work.
As someone who just started playing the game, I’m really surprised to hear that black deck is so bad, it’s actually been the only one I’ve found success on
It can be tough to get off the ground, but I find it pretty fun on the lower difficulty setting.
The black deck synergises particularly badly with *jokerless* runs.
I winced when those aces broke. It was so painful.
The MADLAD did it! havent finished vid yet, but I assume he won. I suggested this on jokerless black deck vid. POG

A lotta death and a lotta glass
gold stake may as well be purple stake cause the joker modifiers dont really matter for these types of challenges, dont they?
I don't think you had one lucky hit in this run.. Love how you play and explain the game though. Learned a lot, thank you.
but did you have fun doing it
goddamn this was such a good run. i was so sure it was gonna go all the way after killing the flint

Why are the jokers called "Jimbos" in your game?
wait this was UNSEEDED???!
this whole run is poetry
Big Blind Ante 8. Is there any scenario you'd want to skip the blind and go straight to the boss?
I got recommended "Unlocking the secrets of mars" under this video. 🙃
Might be fun to run back the same seed and see if it's doable with better info?
I'm going to have to decline Uranus, I won't see Uranus any more
37:20 had no idea about that interaction, wow
1:04:52 me when my name is Yoshikage Kira
ive just seen him do it and i still dont believe its real
Just started Balatro. So, I don't need a telescope for Blue Seals to give me my most upgraded planet card? It just does it automatically, right?
Blue seals give you a planet for whatever hand won the round while the blue seal is in hand, so you have to be careful not to accidentally win with the wrong hand.

Kinda the opposite of the challenge but I just got a run with 2 souls back to back, it was yorick and canio, unfortunately I was on abandoned deck

A valiant effort.

+Abandoned and Nebula, too LOL

THE REGRET
THE REGERTS

extremely impressive
Sorry if someone has already asked this, but why does your balatro say things like “ship it” or “one more” instead of the normal text?
Gotta be a custom mod, the game files are pretty easy to change for this game. Almost nothing is obfuscated.
I'm impressed.
