15 Minute Dinner Series - Asian Noodle Soup
    Ingredients
Noodles (Dried Ramen, udon, buckwheat etc.)
Vegetables (I used sweet pepper and mushrooms)
    Scallion
    1 Egg
    1 1/2 Teaspoon Miso Paste
    1 Tablespoon Vinegar
    Sriracha
    Soy Sauce
    Sesame Oil
    Honey
First boil some water! Enough to cook the noodles and to have a broth, after all this is noodle soup! While you wait for the water to boil start thinly slicing your vegetables. You can use any vegetables really, but I used sweet red pepper, and mushrooms (thinly slicing your vegetables ensures that you vegetables will cook quickly). Once you water comes to a boil add your noodles! I used dried ramen noodles, you can use something else if you want. As your noodles start to cook add the miso paste, vinegar, Sriracha, soy sauce and a splash of sesame oil mix. Then add your whole egg (for a soft boil egg cook for 6 minutes, hardboiled around 10 minutes and take out and put in cool water). If you want the crispy noodles on top then remove some of the noodles and place on a paper towel to dry. Then in a pan add oil and noodles and crisp up! Add sliced vegetables into broth and let it cook down. To balance out the flavors I added a bit of honey. Let it cook down more. Plate and top with chopped scallion, crispy noodle (optional) and egg!
Remember to taste you food throughout the cooking process! You never know what you may need to add or what other flavors you may want in your food! Mix it up and experiment!

I appreciate the honesty in your cooking. You weren't 100% satisfied with the flavors so you kept building them. A lot of cooks try their food and have a huge foodgasm when it may not be that good.

Stella Guan He sad that He ist going to set the timer on 15 minutes. But he isn't really honest. At 7.20 there are no vegetables in the soup, everything is OK. But how is it possible that there are the vegetables in the soup at 7.32 once again? We did't saw he tossed it in the soup wich means he was not honest and cut the video and the other vegetables were lying at the side. And i was flipping out when i saw that there are no vegetables in the soup a moment later, at 8.03. He did't do this in 15 minutes. I like Brothers Green but i'm shocked.

@Ich hab apo seine yeezys verbrannt haha! : It's just an error when editing the video. Calm down. He used a clip from later on when the vegetables were already added, there is no trickery, just a mistake when putting the video together from 3 different camera sources.

Ich hab apo seine yeezys verbrannt haha!, I just made this and it took a little less than 15 minutes actually! Probably just an editing error rather than a lie (-:

One thing I like doing is using a Beef based stock using a stock cube, getting some thin sliced beef from the shop, do the noodles in the broth and add some frozen veg to defrost and cook slightly in the broth. Then your soy and sesame. Then, to add some peppery crunch, thinly sliced red onion ran over the top and a soft boiled egg floating on the top with your wafer thin beef slices waving all on the top like a happy ocean of beefy goodness.

As satisfied as I feel after eating £1 pizza most nights, I decided to head to the supermarket after work today and bought all the ingredients mentioned here and decided to give it a whirl. I gotta say, it turned out pretty damn awesome! Plus after buying all the ingredients and having 75% of it left, it means I can keep remaking it/variations of it which ultimately will save me some cash in the long run... And save me from eating the same damn pizzas every night. Cheers, guys! I'll be trying out a few more of your dishes soon :D

Not sure if you already know this, but one trick my asian parents always do is fry an egg in the pan/pot, once its done, add water in the pan/pot, with the fried egg still in it. Cook noodles, vegatable, in that broth. So good, something about the fried egg taste :)

Love your video. I'm so glad that people are out there explaining you can cook on a budget. I just wanted to share something I do that helps prep time. I buy peppers when they're on sale, and chop them all and freeze about a pound at a time on a cookie sheet, then throw them in freezer bags. If you're someone who uses peppers a lot this is a great technique to cut prep time & peppers dont need to be blanched before freezing which cuts down time as well.

So I ended up making fried veggies with chicken and egg but this very video was the reason I made something in the first place! I love that you show the basics behind cooking and never stick strictly to recipe's.
When it doesn't turn out right, just add an egg and sprinkle scallions on it ... right? That absolutely cured my cooking block. I thank you!

Another tip for that egg is to keep it in some water while you peel it. In the ramen shop I worked at it made it much easier and faster to get the shell off without taking any of the egg white.

Well thanks for the Video I will try the "soup" you prepared. Good job with the video and keep it up.

Awesome - the crispy noodle thing is such a great idea. Great for presentation as well. Steaming eggs is great for an easy peel - just put them in a steamer once the water is boiled for six minutes exactly, then into a cold plunge. They come out creamier than boiled eggs and peel with ease. :)

To help with the egg peeling process: it helps to throw the boiled egg into an ice bath, the reason is the insides of the egg would condense more than the shell could making it easier to peel.

I made my ramen here in my dorm using just the spice packets I had and then to balance out the saltiness with a bit of sweetness, I used mandarin oranges. The juice is also good for flavoring, too! You wouldn't believe how much a can of mandarin oranges can do for a stir fry, too! I made an awesome stir fry by using a full can of mandarin oranges, some sliced steak, soy sauce, onion, and snow peas. It had to be my best stir fry yet!

Way overcooked noodles... :c They'd lose all their texture. Also, miso is something you add at the end so you don't lose so much flavour. Half a teaspoon would be good if not too much, depending on the miso, for that amount. That's why you said you used tons when making miso soup. XD
That being said, i love brothers Greenfield's ideas and videos. I do enjoy watching. ^_^

Whenever I want to doctor ramen (but I'm too lazy to even add veggies) I at least add a little more water, teriyaki sauce, and peanut butter. It's got a little more asian flavor and is creamy cause of the peanut butter.

Try a pack of Chicken Ramen with1/3 can of corn and the liquid before adding the ramen, some cream to taste and lessen the water by the amount of the liquid in the can. It's Trash Can Ramen! Just a name my family called it...till they tried it. LOL. It must be the carbs gone crazy that makes it crazy good. Health not, but it makes a great snack.
My granddaughter likes a full can with the liquid with 2 ramen packages...that's it. And she shares it with me.
The cream is not necessary and personally, I prefer it with some rotisserie chicken if we add cream. It's easy, quick and a biscuit shy of chicken pot pie.

I am so impressed with your low-budget meals, though I find your thought process the most interesting of all. I just love and totally appreciate the lengths you go to help people be as frugal as possible and actually eat what are obviously not just bland, typical money-saving meals, such as simply adding different textures to the food like in this video. I'm really fascinated with how you make everything last and don't waste much, like with the great idea of putting your scallops in water and growing them to get further use out of them and using that left over liquid (brain fart, sry,) to pickle some vegetables, etc. I am NOT skilled in the kitchen and a lot of these things even I could do (or maybe all of them?), so these things I mentioned might seem trivial or obvious to other people with more experience cooking.. but for me, it's really cool and you show me countless things I wouldn't have thought of. One thing though is I'm allergic to onions, so I imagine that takes away from the flavor of a given dish, but oh well haha. I've survived this long without them (well, they would kill me, so ha haa)... I don't even remember what an onion tastes like ;D Thanks, love your channel. I've been trying some of your meals and also some similar cheap ideas of my own, and I'm beginning to weigh more than 145 lbs lol :S :o)

egg is soft, crispy noodle is great, but I think if you'd cooked your noodle just right and shocked them in ice water would give the dish a chewy texture as well. Very nice idea with the crispiness, I usually use fried thin sliced garlic but frying the noodle itself seems a better idea for presentation.

Need a bigger bowl! That will feed my 8 year old. We're big on asian noodles especially Ramen. Love it. Will try this since he also loves miso.

I love cooking (though I don't get to do it often) and I don't mind spending some time in the kitchen (far from it), but it's the clean up part that I don't like, especially if there's any oil involved.

If you don't want to parallel fry crispy noodles, you can just throw roast onion from a packet right at the end instead. Nice flavor, crispy and easy.
