  • For some time I was literally bombarded with the reMarkable 2 digital e-paper notebook ads. They were everywhere: Facebook, Google, web pages. Looks like those ads worked, because a few weeks ago I bought the reMarkable 2.

Today it's time for a review. The short version is: it's good but not worth the money they are requesting for it.
What I like about reMarkable 2: the best e-paper notebook out there, everything is synced with a desktop app, looks good and feels good.
What I don't like is: price, stupid problems like device orientation, no backlight, and handwriting recognition do not work in the landscape mode. And ah, data synchronization sometimes breaks without any specific reason!

The thing that kills me about Remarkable is that for the price of this thing, you might as well buy an iPad and Apple Pencil (or Samsung tablet and stylus if Android is your style). Those will do every single thing Remarkable does, plus tons more, and might actually be cheaper in some cases. If it was half the price, then maybe…?

This just looks like a larger screen version of the PalmPilot from the 1990's.
For text input it uses a graphiti-like strokes. It worked amazingly well, even if characters where sloppy-input.
I like the use of e-paper screen for small status displays and the low power capability. Have thought it would be nice if INAV supported an e-paper display (like 15-25 mm screen size).

really no link or is it so worse ?
I was looking for the price, but I searched for reMarkable 2 and found 400€ + 60€ !
460 € means 60 paper diaries or books for 7,50€ and finally the evaluations or customer feedback looks like fake with 902 reviews giving 4,5 stars.
Too many bugs and missing backlight, cause my first thought had been, that would be nice to replace my kindle when you opened it in the first minute.
    But then it went downwards.

A Pad or Tablet would be cheaper and more responsive.

Depends on the expectations. I have a tablet and well, for taking notes and drawing, this is better than a tablet
