Hey guys, I'm really looking to get into producing music. It's always been something I've wanted to do, I just haven't had the money for it. But I'm working full-time now as i'm out of high school so I'll be able to buy equipment that I would need to do so. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here who has experience with producing music could let me know what a good program to use would be and what kind of PC or Mac I would need, and all equipment from microphone to speakers to different cables, just everything. Just pretty much let me know what your setup is I suppose. I really want to make beats that sample different well known songs, and where I can input sounds from things around me that I record. ( such as a coin rolling around, or a nail gun, things like that.) and I also would like to be able to have a program that allows me to morphe certain sounds that I input. I hope this all makes sense. I just want to be able to make unique sounding music(beats) rather than just basic beats if that makes sense. A decent windows laptop will run you about $700 plus unless you can find one during a back-to-school sale. If you prefer a mac, then get a MBP. You can find some used ones for a pretty good deal. There is no best DAW. They all do the same thing, they just look and feel different. Demo some daws and find which workflow you like the best. Some places to start would be Cubase, Ableton, Bitwig, FL Studio, and Studio One. They all run you at least $300 I think. You'll probably want to get some synths unless you get the most expensive verson of Ableton because internal plugins are trash. Komplete is the best bundle in terms of monetary value. Serum and Harmor are also good synths. If you don't get komplete, Massive, Kontact, and Battery 4 are worth the money. If you want you can buy samples packs but there are more than enough free samples to get you started. In terms of equipment, you want to get a MIDI keyboard and some quality headphones/monitors. I'd suggest getting a field recorder instead of microphones if you're going to be recording foley sounds and not instruments and bands. Making a beat is simple. You just need a keyboard, a computer and garage band. You need to start off with drums, then go up to the chords then to the bass then the melody and have form. Simple.

Spicy Chicken nah garage band is only good for simple beats if you want to be serious in producing beats then invest in something like FL studio or Logic for the Mac
