@@shmoofgang For a rear wheel drive drag racing car, if traction is poor due to a poor surface, or sub-optimal rear suspension or tires, adding weight to the rear of the car will increase traction at the drive wheels. Most guys would put some ballast in the trunk, but this guy bolted it directly to the rear axle so that it doesn't affect the performance of the springs and shocks, being unsprung weight. Check out Beater Bomb on TH-cam, he's added weight on a steel outrigger that hangs well beyond the rear bumper.

OMG! Don’t ever underestimate look of the car. He took on pretty much on everyone in his class. Even had lot of stock options on it while running high horsepower and in 8’s. This Chevy looks mean and almost sleeper.

Videos show other drivers lifting to let him win, time boards behaving irregular so the race goes his way, etc etc. He's a good talker and knows how to make a dollar, but his cars are overrated.

Dr. Boost may have dicovered that running tall tires have an advantage over his regularly diametered (?) competitors. Fuelers and Funny Cars have been able to go direct drive because when they 'get on the tire' they get another gear (lower numeric dif #). If, thanks to him, it's by chance found that tall tires, with or without low profiles, can make a break-through, it would be like how the slipper clutch was discovered. There was a no-name top fuel driver who was 6ft 4" tall. He had trouble getting into the car, and when he did, he couldn't release the clutch all the way because of his hieght. His ETs suddenly dropped 2 tenths of a second! Voila! The slipper clutch was born!

I've got a '88 Chevy Caprice sitting in the garage that was my grandparents that is begging to be turned into a monster. It's been a dream of mine to build it up, this makes me want to make it happen.
built ls--$15,000-$30,000 massive turbo -$5000+ (then the hot and cold side,another 5 grand) built glide $5000 ford 9" $3-5000+ fuel system and electronics $5000+ ....then you need to put it all together and make it work.there a ton of money and time tied up in this car you aint seein(my numbers are estimates but you get the point)
