The Affair finale was like coming to the end of a great novel. I wasn't ready to leave these characters, yet was satisfied and delighted. Old Noah dancing at the end - redeemed at last - made me cry. The Whole of the Moon was the perfect song. Two lovers looking at life from different perspectives.

Mid-3rd season, I said to my wife, "Babe, I feel like we're watching the adaptation of 1 of Noah's books." Little did I know how accurate I was...The only thing I got wrong was that it wasn't Noah's book...It was Treem's! This was an amazingly tight and complete story about some amazing characters!!! I loved the reunion of Joanie, Eddie, Noah, etc...This was a beautifully made story!!! We loved it!!!
The Affair was a masterpiece of acting. Pure acting and characters. Humans being human. Never been portrayed better on tv. It was extraordinary.

I felt like I was intruding in the finale. The hotel scene with Noah & Helen was so moving, personal, joyous... etc...
I loved the different perspectives and how each character saw the same situation totally different...isn't that truth!your truth-my truth-their truth and ofcourse the real truth..who cares

I can honestly say The Affair is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. I will miss it. The ending was just perfect.

Seldom have I cried so much in a TV series. Movies are sometimes that compelling. But the final couple episode, especially the last one were so deeply compelling and emotional.

Kept rewinding and watching and especially listening to the end of "The Affair" series. Thought provoking words to the song relating in many ways from knowing the 5 year history of the series to one's own personal life. One of the best endings to a series or a movie I have ever been privy to......
I was also thrilled with this series finale. We weren't left with too many open ended questions. I love a good romantic ending and was happy to see Noah and Ellen reunited. They've had quite a journey. Loved the scene were Colin and the siblings were outside the hotel room laughing and eating cake. Noah dancing at the end on those gorgeous cliffs was fabulous.
Yeah, this series kind of lost me during the Vic period, but I couldn't miss the finale. It was wonderful.

Amazing how the original sounds like someone singing their admiration and Fiona’s version sounds like a song filled with regret. She’s incredible. Also loved The Affair’s theme song written and performed by her.
She recorded this specifically for the series finale, so it is filled with angst to fit the Solloway family to a tee.
I am not a crying man, but that last scene with Noah, only my German Shepherd knows I shed tears... Awesome... Bravo..

I remember it was Fiona Apple"s passionate voice that first introduced us to this great show so many years ago....how perfect for writer/creator Sarah Treem to make sure that Fiona is the last voice we hear as this wonderful show fades to black......in a world of copycats......this was a true original.

A lot of series have left audiences empty (Seinfeld, Sopranos The Deuce-yuck). They should all take note of the way The Affair was brought to closure, best since Newhart!

I too just heard this on the finale of The Affair! What am amazing ending to a fabulous series. It was one of the most courageous and touching series finales I have ever seen. So thought provoking and emotionally stirring. I was so touched and cried. I’ll miss this show and what an amazing performance by Maura Tierney. She’s fabulous and deserves an award for this piece of work!

I had a student teacher in 8th grade who married an Irish guy. The Waterboys was his favorite band and she introduced me to this song. Then I played out Mandy Moore’s cover in high school. So great having it being an unofficial theme to the final season of The Affair. Fiona’s version sounds great and was great for that final shot. I will miss this show.

If you download it, you should be able to get a 160K .webm (which you can convert to .mp3) which is just about passable quality, but when playing it on the web TH-cam will often downgrade it to 128 or worse.

I think I've watched the last episode 5 times now, is awesome. Love this song so much more then the original. It makes me cry too. Reminds me of all the fearless ones I love and know and those I've lost. Heartrendingly beautiful. For Butch, Bill, Margaret and Craig, they could always see the Whole of the moon.
I can't get this tune out of my head! A poignant and significant part in the conclusion of #TheAffair - A fantastically written series that kept me engaged from beginning to end. I was sceptical about the final series not including key characters from the previous, but I needn't have been. The final episode was what the viewer was hoping for and was very thought provoking. Well done to all involved, I hope to see the cast again soon, involved with other projects.

Loved the ending of the Affair. Noah being 30 years older, he was even more handsome and humbled in the end. Reading a chapter from a book to Helen at her gravesite, then walking with his cane, being older up on the cliff. Didn't expect him to dance alone, but it was the best finale for his character. Gosh, hope I can meet someone who resembles Noah's character in real life.

I always said some songs should never be covered as they are just so perfect as they are. Imagine and American pie for example. I thought 'Whole of the moon' fell into this category, i was wrong.

If you begin, sometimes in the 2nd or 3rd season, to understand the deap meaning of this amazon masterpiece, you will start to reflect your own life. I had the first time on tv (better on the cloud) the impression to be a part of the family of Noah and Helen Solloway. Marvellous. Last but not least, the 5th season is the best I ever saw on Amazon, great cinema with great actors and a very great end scene of this masterpiece. I really hope that this will not be the absolutely end of "The Affair" ...

This final scene proved how great The Affair was. Fiona Apple is an amazing songwriter and despite the fact that she did not write this song, her ear for great music is apparent in everything she does. And this version is even better than the original in my opinion.

This show redeemed itself at the end. The first and second seasons were brilliant and then it got cheesy, especially when it went into "me too" territory. Beautiful ending, nice Fiona cover to wrap it up, and finally Noah's redemption, smile, and dance moves.

One of the downsides of covers. How many here a beautiful song and instantly think what geniuses the artist is for creating a beautiful song when in fact it was another. Apple does a magnificent job here to be honest. I like hers equally with The Waterboys version.
