By 1958 I had owned a few different bikes and ended up with a S/H Venom. This machine was streets ahead of anything else. Handling, brakes, lightning acceleration - a joy to ride, never forgotten.
In 1958 I ordered a new Viper from L. Stevens in Shepards Bush. At that time most of these Vipers and Venoms had chrome plated fuel tanks but I had a special ordered a black one which a reduced the price by a few quid. I loved that bike. It went round corners like it was on rails so good that I wore a chamfer on the left hand footrest and ground a bit off the end of the fishtail exhaust. We used to race up and down the Western avenue outside Northolt airport and I remember following behind my brother on his 650 Triumph Trophy into roundabouts and always coming out in front only to get out accelerated on the straight part. Unfortunately had to sell it to get married and now I don’t have the bike or the same wife but that’s another story.
@@nicerides9224 some 2.0 years later I got hold of a venom Enduro that had been stripped down for racing. Spent a fortune on parts from Geoff Dodkin but finished up with to-all intents and purposes a clubman’s replica. Eventually ended up with the bike in California but sold it so all have left is found memories.
Glad I bought mine in 1984, prices now are silly! Never had to restore it as I'm only the second owner but I have overhauled the engine. Well I say me but Geoff Dodkin did the bottom end and I did the top. Mags been done too, also had the tank resprayed as it was a little worn. Have also put some stainless fasteners on it but kept all the old ones. And I've treated it to a brand new Amal carb! This year will be the first time I've used it for about 15 years though! Too many bikes, not enough time! Just wish I'd also bought a Thruxton in 1984!! Upto £25K now, beyond my means!
Thomas Rendall. they go for $12,000.00 to near $50,000.00 for some pristine Thruxtons. Maybe you can get lucky. look often. I looked for 20 years before I found one that I could afford. If you love them, put up pictures of them and allow a sympathetic Universe to bring one your way. No kidding.

Selling your bike to get married is a very high price to pay.

Beautiful
Stunning! Another brand that perhaps an Indian company will revive 😂.
i hope not
love these vintage bikes !
Do you know much they go for ?
I'd be looking for around £7k for bike in this condition. It has cost me a fortune to restore, barely run in yet.
+watchyMCFCwatchy thanks ! Impressive job on the bike !
