I am from Greece and I didn't know about this book, I read it this Summer, was perfect! Says many for Greeks...and the country too, one foreigner told me to read it! I thank him
Good review. Very informative, and you told me absolutely everything I could have wanted to know. I am working my way through Tropic of Cancer, now. This one seems as though it would really intrigue me.
I think Miller's book can help understand the Greeks, who like French and Italians can be easily misunderstood by Americans because of different attitude regarding life. The book will help an American enjoy and appreciate Greece when visiting the place.
@@NicholasOfAutrecourt That's a shame. Your review was an astute take on his style. It can get a bit much for some but he is one of the best for the wide-eyed love of all things writing. And some amazing language. A one off.
@@elfboy29 The adolescent obsession with sex I find more than a little boring. I'm sure it was edgy and provocative 80 years ago, but it no longer has that lascivious allure it used to. I think I still have "The Air-Conditioned Nightmare" laying around somewhere. If you have any recommendations, feel free to let me know.
@@NicholasOfAutrecourt It was the writing about the cosmic that i liked. In places he would link that to the body - spiral from the physical to the universal. That kind of thing is where the Rosecrution stuff comes in. It was never just about sex. Capricorn and Cancer have all this. Such strange visions in language that attempted to describe the indescribable. He also talks about other writers with the same life affirming enthusiasm and led me to many.
John could we have a little more of your bio: origin of birth, education, any thing else you feel open to share. Glad to share anything you want to know about me if you have an interest
I'd rather keep the channel focus solely on the books, my reactions to them, and conversations that arise therefrom. However, thank you for your interest.

I remember reading this in the late 1990s and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for your review.
Just bought this book in preparation for a journey to Corfu. Can't wait.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, Francesco. Such a lovely book!

excellent, thanks, not sure if you have been to Greece, interested in how this affects one view
I'm afraid I wouldn't know.

Did you ever read any more Miller?
Nope.
