I like Mcintosh I nearly went for once but chose the Devialet expert pro 1000 , Mcintosh are iconic products. I heard one of their amps at Peter Tyson paired with Sonus Faber Anmati speakers and a Linn deck it was very very good
Hi John, Another excellent video. And the first I've seen on this new McIntosh. It looks beautiful and I trust that the amp is incredible. But am I missing something? Only Spotify and Tidal actually stream directly through the MAS5500 and the other cloud services have to take a detour via Airply, Chromecast or Roon? As a sidenote, who would stream Spotify on a £10-grand kit?
Thank you Robert. I use Chromecast all the time, the product still pulls the stream from the Internet, your phone just acts like a remote control that tells the product what to do and where to stream from. You can still take calls and use other apps and stream will be uninterrupted. I'm pretty sure Airplay works in the same way too. Bluetooth, however, goes through the phone and will interrupt the music if you get a call. I tried Spotify and it actually sounded really good, not as good as lossless from Qobuz or Tidal of course. It's about time Spotify released a high res subscription because I think they have the best app. People do use it, some can't hear the difference or don't care enough to ditch Spotify and rebuild their playlists in a different service. Each to their own I suppose. I have seen people solely using Bluetooth on very nice equipment....that makes me itch a bit to be fair! - John
That's a very tempting streaming integrated amp
I would love a McIntosh setup. This looks really good with plenty of connectivity. Nice one John.

Sorry if I butchered the pronunciation with my Englishness! 🙂 - John.
