As a test, I deposited ~300 BAT (~$80) in a liquidity pool on Aave about a week ago... at the time, the advertised return was over 25%. (I didn’t expect it to remain that high.) As of last night, the rate had fallen to 0.08%. When I attempted to withdraw the tokens, the miner fee was quoted as $57! Simply crazy.

Great video. Can someone explain to me how a loan can be overcollateralized though? I thought that was the point of a loan -- you don't have enough money to, say, buy a house so you get a loan. If you have to collateralize as much (or more) than you're borrowing, why not just use the collateral instead?
I use Aave. Deposited my BTC and took out a USDC loan and bought more Bitcoin. Great leverage for only 10%. My plan is to repay in 12 months. What's the bet BTC will be much much higher in 12 months?

Great video guy! I always knew aave is an excellent project but never knew it’s ingenuity before! I have a general defi question though.. how are providing liquidity and lending money to protocols different from the perspective of the provider!? In both cases I just supply tokens and earn interest isn’t it? The end purpose might be different as one is for those who wish to borrow money and other is for those who wish to exchange. But from my point of view does it make any difference?

The lack of control around the collateral seems dangerous as it is possible to borrow in circle by just buying more crypto with the loan taken. The rate of 15% for the borrower indicates that they are ready to pay a huge premium in the belief that the return on the crypto bought with that money will exceed those 15%. It seems that at some point this will not be sustainable no?

It's all speculations now. No doubt this is a great video, and no doubt Aave is looking good. I recommend people not to go all in on anything right now, and tip toe with this. Crypto is still a niche market and we don't know what the general public will choose to adopt in the end.
