He should have got an oscar long time ago for his masterpieces like, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Malèna, Cinema Paradiso, Casualties of War, The Mission, Once Upon A Time In The West/America, The Untouchables and many more.
5 oscar-nominations, only a honorary award and 83 wins from other award commissions...91 other nominations (And that`s a lot), and finally (I think because of Tarantino, who makes wonderful movies) he gets one for The Hateful Eight.
The man is a master in his moviemusic, he deserved many oscars for almost every movie from Leone.
Requiescat in pace Maestro. You were my favorite composer..†

Age has caught up with him but it would have been tragic if he was too frail to receive the award personally. It is also sad that he didn't win before for his other masterpieces, hateful 8 wasn't his best work. It is like they had no choice but to give it to him to make up for the past.
