All eyes on gold bars in early days of Menendez trial

Judge Sidney Stein gaveled Sen. Bob Menendez's (D-NJ) bribery and corruption trial into action on Monday. By Wednesday, a jury -- six men and six women -- was seated for opening arguments. On Thursday morning, jurors got to hold one-kilo gold bars the FBI seized from a bedroom closet during a search of the Englewood Cliffs home Menendez shares with his wife, Nadine.

For what it's worth: Halal and Kosher are rackets in and of itself. I use to work in a food processing plant and a Rabbi was mandated to review/inspect our process for making Kosher ingredients and certify it was Kosher. He's check cleanliness, temperature and bless the batch. Of course, the FDA requires many more checks than merely two and skips the magic words. Essentially the Rabbi merely reviews what is documented and can ensure nothing beyond that. Then there would be an exchange of money...and whala, the trick was done.
