@@ScaredPale oh my gosh, YOU GOTTA WATCH THOSE! If you did reactions to those, that would be AMAZING! And even if you don’t, just for your own personal viewing experience, you should give them a watch! The Twin Peaks movie Fire Walk With Me is such an intense experience in the personal life of Laura Palmer when she was alive. It’s very moving and emotional! And the Showtime Season 3 is a culmination of all of David Lynch’s works and perfectly captures the eerie “I’ll see you again in 25 years” line Laura Palmer says to Agent Cooper in the original series finale!
I love this one because it was my first Elm Street movie. It was the one we had in the house like my stepdad had it recorded with another movie he liked. So I watched it over and over. It's not my favorite but I do love this one.
There was no script when they started this. They had an idea, but most of it was written days before it was shot. That's why the bad dialogue as well as the cheap kills.
This one hits those nostalgic notes for me, just cause I grew up with this series and had the Nightmare 4 poster on my bedroom door as a kid. But yea, for sure this particular film is where they took Freddy to that cheese ball ‘80s zenith with the shades on the beach and corny lines … but I don’t care, I still love it!! Lol
@@MeatPie95 Agreed. I'm 30, and love 80s movies, despite not being alive at the time. Movies nowadays try to hard to push a message and be "deep" that they've forgotten to be fun and entertainign.
@@obvioushieidude7668 Especially when it comes to Action movies. And Freddy Krueger is my number 1 favourite Horror Icon of all time, Jason Voorhees is my 2nd favourite Horror Icon, and I like all of there movies, including Freddy vs Jason. I've been watching them since I was 8yrs old on the VHS.
One of my best friends and his dad took me to see Part 4 in theaters. It was my first Nightmare movie. He then showed me in reverse order on vhs Part 3, then 2, and finally 1. Eventually 5 came along and I believe we also saw that in theaters together. As a kid I was very passionate about movie special effects. I think that plus being my first Freddy movie makes Part 4 one of my top Nightmare movies. 3 is definitely the scariest of them. Granted as a kid these all kinda scared me, but for a very long time now, most horror movies don't scare me outside of maybe jump scares. And even then I usually don't even flinch for those anymore. It wasn't until I think Insidious and the Conjuring where movies started to at least give me the horror chills, possibly helped by their music scores. Those are some of my favorite movies these days because of this. Hereditary and Midsommar a bit too. After Part 3, these movies get more, I've always called it "commercial" for some reason (others might call it main stream, campy, or cheesy), but like Freddy has the one liners, the deaths are always very cool, and just like the Friday the 13th movies, people aren't going to see the movies to be scared anymore, they are going to see how Freddy/Jason kills people. Things get inventive. I also enjoy 5 a lot, bunch of cool concepts, though I know a lot of people don't really like it. At least until you get to New Nightmare where things get more serious in tone. Sooo the teacher who talks about controlling dreams or whatever. I believe that's Robert Shaye who I think was a producer at New Line and involved with every Nightmare movie. Also he is married to Linn Shaye, I believe, who was in the first movie as a teacher and one of the main protagonists of the Insidious movies. I also believe Robert was in maybe 2-3 movies in this franchise in little roles like this. Prolly smaller roles than in this film actually. He might have been a bar tender in part 2. The reason why Freddy is tied to Nancy's house is because it was actually Freddy's house at some point if I remember correctly. Maybe someone can elaborate more on that if they know? Not necessarily a spoiler or anything, but when you get to Freddy's Dead, remember they filmed a portion of the film in 3D. You'll know when that section starts via what happens in the movie. For me it's always fun to look at special effects or shots you know were filmed for 3D even if they aren't now in 3D as you're watching. For example in Friday the 13th Part 3D, they had a lot of cheesy shots of people holding objects at the camera like knives and things. I have the Nithtmare franchise set on dvd and it came with the red/blue 3D glasses so you could watch it at home how it was meant to be.
@@ScaredPaledon't forget to add 3 and 4 to your Nightmare playlist! Have you watched any Friday the 13th? Are you going to watch Freddy vs Jason, and if so watch the Friday series ahead of time?

This was nade during a writer's strike, so that explains the writing lol. I love this one for the 80's MTV style and cool practical effects. Wish thefirst film had the budget of this one.
In 2015 Tuesday Knight finally released the song Nightmare aka Running From This Nightmare the title track on CD which was an EP release which was packed with rarities. The disc also has the studio version of Nightmare and was limited to 1000 copies signed by Tuesday Knight herself. I managed to get a copy and still have it! 🎩🧤💽🎥
Love watching your reactions to help with anxiety. Had to drive as early as possible at 16, but had friends that didnt drive till they graduated. Keep rockin
So glad to see you back! I had been checking every few days for the past couple months to see if your Nightmare 4 was up lol Not to come off creepy or anything, but your reactions are always so genuine and insightful, and I knew you were going through the Nightmares. So, I actually watched this the other day and IDK if someone else already commented, but my theory about why Freddy switched from Kristen to Alice was because he needed to finish off the "last of the Elm Street Kids" in order to move on to a new, unrelated group. Like, it was some supernatural dream rule or something. And he needed some sort of transition between the last of the Elm Street kids (Kristen) to someone new (Alice). As far as Alice and the ending with the "Dream Master" poem, I think it goes back to the original or Part 3, where each person has their dream power. Even if the poem is not a big thematic thing, for Alice it would be enough to fight Freddy as it was something she believed in. Like Nancy taking away her fear from Freddy or the Dream Warriors having their own individual powers. I think that was their general thought anyway, but at the time, it was pretty rushed. When you finish the series, you should definitely check out the "Never Sleep Again" documentary. One of the BEST horror movie documentaries of all time. Worth it 100 percent. Incredibly entertaining and informative. I do enjoy Nightmare 4, but it is definitely not as good as Nightmare 3 or the Original. The great thing is that Wes Craven's New Nightmare (or Part 7) is AMAZING, and I promise you will enjoy it. Loved your reference to Laura Palmer. Twin Peaks is actually referenced in Part 6 and was a point of inspiration for Part 6's director (the "bizarre humor" part of Twin Peaks). Fun Fact: The intro song of this one was sung by Tuesday Knight, who played Kristen in this one. Nightmare 5 continues the story, but you have to keep in the back of your mind that at this time, Freddy was a phenomenon with his own TV show and everything. So, the comedic side started to take priority and "lessens" the quality of Parts 5 and 6. But 7 takes us back strong. Sorry for this long post, I did not think I would write such a long comment.
Patricia didn't want to come back to do a horror movie at the time unfortunately.. Tuesday who replaced her did the beginning of of opening credits song, Nightmare.. I love this movie and Alice is my favorite❤❤❤ She's the Dream Master
After 1 and 3, this is very highly rated for me. Saw this when I was very young, so I guess Freddy's now over-the-top sense of humor appealed to me and the visuals (e.g., soul pizza, the roach motel). And how Jason "resurrected" him was hilarious. His "death" here was my favorite, very creative. There's something for everyone in this series, I appreciate your honesty. Lots of reactors aren't geniune with their true feelings.
Glad you are back! Great reaction. I saw this movie ages ago. It was ok movie but a little campy and the narrative was slow. Glad you picked it. Interesting practical effects. Have a great day! Cool shirt!!!!!!!
@@ScaredPale Kincaid and Freddy have a few lines of dialogue with no lip movement at all. I loved this one growing up, but over the years I've realized how awful it is. (the next two are worse. But similarly fun)
This is a fun movie probably the second most fun of the series after 3. Part 1 is still the best the series has to offer but 3 and 4 are the most fun in terms of pure entertainment. This film isn't scary because by this point Freddy was to exposed but its really entertaining and entertainment value matters to me. Anyway fun reaction and good to see u back!
Thanks so much! It is a little bit like Jaws. In the first film he’s more hidden and mysterious by the time they show him the anticipation makes him more scary. By now though in the series he’s out and about so much he just feels like a familiar friend at this point 😎
they were writing the movie as they were going along shooting it, Renny Harlin directed this who is a talented director but was a complete nobody, they had money to spend so they went with the bombastic and loud and extravagant but yeah the script suffered.
If I recall correctly this movie was made while there was a writers strike. For Alice’s brothers death I guess they didn’t have any ideas so they just had an invisible Freddy fight him in a Japanese setting.
Cringe dialogue and acting aside. I think this movie series shines during the dream sequences. The sheer amount of camera angles, set designs, and fast paced moments are worth watching alone. And I always appreciated Nightmare for being somewhat self-aware which covers up its flaws. If it took itself seriously it would be even more cheeseball.
If you didn't like this one wait tI'll part 5 and Freddy's dead part 6. Wes Cravens new nightmare is a masterpiece some fans even like it better than the original .
Good reaction. Hope you can eventually do From Beyond, Dead Alive and The Blob remake from the 80s, would all be good reactions if you haven't seen them
The voice dubbing could've been due to a lack of noise cancelling technology at the time, so outdoor scenes with hair blowing in the wind would have to be dubbed.
I really enjoy this one!. At this point Freddy was pretty much a mainstream figure and his puns came thick and fast in this which made it more entertaining than scary. If I had to rank them then it would be. 1) Part 3 2) part 1 3) New Nightmare 4) part 4 5) Freddy v Jason 6) part 2 7) Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare 8) Part 5 (I really didn't like this one when it came out and it's still the only one I rarely bother to revisit).
Wes Craven's New Nightmare is after Freddy's Dead. Then Freddy Vs. Jason, then the remake. New Nightmare is the only "good" one to come. I mean, I love all of them because I'm a superfan since early childhood, but I can be objective. I will actually defend the next one as not being as bad as people make it. It's a pretty original idea to theme a horror movie around childbirth.the execution is a failure though.
I love your reactions to these because they are very detailed and in-depth. You also bring a lot of good references and film making nods too. It’s been a real treat. I can’t wait to see your reaction to the rest because I honestly love them. I go back and forth on this movie. I feel like it’s a really hollow film (due to the writers strike) and is using all these big gross and impressive effects to hide that the story isn’t as deep or has layers. On the other hand, a lot of people say this is the MTV Nightmare and the start of no longer being scary. However, I find Freddy to be more intimidating and cruel in this than Dream Warriors. And him putting on sunglasses or the karate scene aren’t much goofier than the awful stop motion Skelton in 3 or the Wizard Master scene in 3. I don’t mind Tuesday Knight as Kristen, I think by the time she gave the role her own Autonomy (and I rooted for her) they killed her which was unfortunate. Alice is a pretty decent lead and I do like her progression.
I agree that right when I got used to the new Kirstin, they killed her. :( And I didn’t know about the writers strike! I love learning about the context of the time, it really does inform my thoughts on the film as a whole.
@@ScaredPale yeah it was really unfortunate. Because I felt like once I really liked her and accepted her as Kristen, she was gone. Apparently there was a huge extended nightmare of Freddy chasing her down a long dark tunnel, and the scene on the beach originally had Freddy making her get sun burns. They cut the tunnel chase scene to get to the new cast faster. Apparently Bob Shaye wanted the Dream Warriors killed off. Patricia Arquette did state recently she was a huge fan of the series and is proud of Dream Warriors but turned down part 4 to avoid being typecast in horror.
@@ScaredPale on the Never Sleep Again Documentary (which I recommend watching after you see all the films) they talk about their being a massive writers strike. So part 4 was heavily rushed and underwritten. Renny Harlin made most of the dream sequences based off his own nightmares and tried to use big effects to compensate the weaker script. Part 5 is rushed too. They went through multiple drafts and rewrites on the fly (I think 5 is better though because it has darker themes to it) Freddy’s Dead is the first film since part 3 to be filmed with a complete script that wasn’t rushed.
What makes no sense to me is how the Kincaid and Joey from the 3rd installment are killed off. I think Joey should have been killed first, being that Kincaid was yelling that Freddy is back. Who was the one who found his voice? Oh, yeah. Joey! Joey yelling about Freddy’s return makes much more sense. Kincaid’s death could have been Freddy getting him while he’s trying to save Kristin from Freddy. That would make much more sense for Kincaid.
Sheila and Debbie's death scenes are the only memorable thing about this movie. Major step down from Dream Warriors. Movies don't get better until New Nightmare.
I don’t! I’ve thought about it but in these edits I pretty much include everything I say while I’m watching. The rest is basically me just sitting there starring at the movie haha
Real quick, he did use Kristin to bring him more kids BUT he made sure he got the rest of the Elm Street kids also. No disrespect but the movie explained what was going on but you were doing ya job, reacting. So, yea I hope you understood more when you or if you did the edit.
I do my edits :) But honestly the motives still aren’t totally clear for me. I get that he finished off the original elm street kids. But then he’s using Alice to bring him more just for the sake of it I guess. Because she somehow got Kristins powers with no explanation of how she’s absorbing everyone’s skills and powers? Idk I guess I really liked the tight narrative before but I shouldn’t really expect that from this series as it continues.
I think the best way to enjoy these movies is to meet them where/as they are and not bring in any assumptions or preconceived notions. Let's be honest, w exception of 1 and 3 (and 7 to a lesser extent) it's not a "good" franchise. What it is tho is a fun and campy franchise w lots of cool ideas and visual treats. This film in particular is so fun to watch, def my fav of the bad ones, but it's not a good movie haha. I wish they fleshed out Alice more and agree w all your thoughts! I wish they brought back more of the teamwork element introduced in 3.
I’ll go ahead and watch Freddy vs Jason :) And not sure when I’ll watch the 13th movies. I saw the first one a long time ago and just know those films have a reputation of relying on the kill scenes for entertainment so not sure I want to dive into that series right after Nightmare. I also have played the Friday the 13th game which is super fun!!!
@@ScaredPale I still play it today' even now as we speak, but they are shutting it down on Dec 31st 2024. I think you can still do off line matches but that might be it?
That dog Jason was a serious fkn bastard! And you'd think if 5 students "accidentally" die in 3 days, one of them actually in her desk in class, the school might consider like maybe a long weekend for the students? 🤷♂️ When they said "No Child Left Behind", in the 80s, they really meant that shit! Didn't like Patricia Arquette's replacement, and this film was overall much weaker than the last. Freddy was not scary at all. Not much for story, but I'll give it big points for the Practical FX! Great finale too, Alice gets better towards the end. Lousy how they killed off the last of the Elm Street kids, poor Kincaid and Joey. Didn't hate it, wish Arquette was back. Next up; The Dream Child
Yeah, if you’re gonna own a dog, you’ve GOTTA house-train it as a puppy... or before you know it, it’s peeing fire in your living room. Everyone knows that.
I’m required to talk a certain amount to avoid copyright infringement :) so during kills there’s not a lot of dialogue it’s easier to talk over. I don’t like to talk during dialogue scenes as much as

@@gavinrhys it was brilliant!!!
I love this one because it was my first Elm Street movie. It was the one we had in the house like my stepdad had it recorded with another movie he liked. So I watched it over and over. It's not my favorite but I do love this one.
Aw I love that nostalgia
There was no script when they started this. They had an idea, but most of it was written days before it was shot. That's why the bad dialogue as well as the cheap kills.
This one hits those nostalgic notes for me, just cause I grew up with this series and had the Nightmare 4 poster on my bedroom door as a kid. But yea, for sure this particular film is where they took Freddy to that cheese ball ‘80s zenith with the shades on the beach and corny lines … but I don’t care, I still love it!! Lol
That’s fun you had the poster!!
I'm only 28. And movies that are from the 1980's are awesome. I feel like nowadays people seem to like take movies way to seriously.
@@MeatPie95 I’m not sure if the last sentence is true, but I agree with everything else you said!
Oh good to know about the 3D! And I agree, that’s a great term to describe the direction these films are going, commercial.
@@ScaredPaledon't forget to add 3 and 4 to your Nightmare playlist!
Have you watched any Friday the 13th? Are you going to watch Freddy vs Jason, and if so watch the Friday series ahead of time?

Welcome back! OK, so I’d seen this movie once in my life before this and now I’ve seen it twice. I think I can live happily never seeing it again. That’s how I feel about it. On a side note, I can’t leave super chats anymore :(
Hahah that’s how I feel about it right now. Maybe some day in a long time I’ll revisit it but I’m good for quite a while.
And no worries Brix!! I’ve always appreciated your generosity! But just glad to have you around as a viewer
First film in the franchise where Robert Englund received top billing in the opening credits.
Yayyy she’s back!! I love you so much!! Looking great as always🤍🤍🤍

Thanks for the support! Part 5 will be out tonight!!!
Patricia didn't want to come back to do a horror movie at the time unfortunately.. Tuesday who replaced her did the beginning of of opening credits song, Nightmare.. I love this movie and Alice is my favorite❤❤❤ She's the Dream Master
Freddy never wore a Hawaiian shirt it was still his sweater , he just wore the sunglasses
I thought there was in the postcard but I must have seen it wrong, maybe he’s holding a map or something
There was a postcard, in the postcard he is wearing his sweater and hat . No sunglasses .
Nightmare on elm street is my favourite franchise also I have the same hoodie lol
Got it as a gift and it’s surprisingly cozy haha
Your back ! Yay ! So excited been a long long time .
Your back !!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀
Love your reactions, Sydney!! You're beautiful!! 🥰❤️🌹
My favorite is nighitmare 3 ,these videos are done very well keep it up!
Thanks so much!!! So far 3 is my favorite sequel as well!
Glad you are back! Great reaction. I saw this movie ages ago. It was ok movie but a little campy and the narrative was slow. Glad you picked it. Interesting practical effects. Have a great day! Cool shirt!!!!!!!
The end of the third film would definitely be the end of the saga but Robert Shaye the producer of the saga didn't want it that way
Alice always seemed dubbed to me, even as a kid. I think they did a lot of looping in this movie.
THANK YOU! That’s how it felt to me too
@@ScaredPale Kincaid and Freddy have a few lines of dialogue with no lip movement at all.
@@ScaredPale so true 👍
@@ScaredPale Notice how Freddy makes his victims think they are killing him in this and even the film before until Freddy has the last laugh!🎩🧤🧣🛌
The actress who plays Kristen's mother is the real life mother of Tiffany Helm, who plays Violet in Friday The 13th Part V.
they were writing the movie as they were going along shooting it, Renny Harlin directed this who is a talented director but was a complete nobody, they had money to spend so they went with the bombastic and loud and extravagant but yeah the script suffered.
If I recall correctly this movie was made while there was a writers strike.
For Alice’s brothers death I guess they didn’t have any ideas so they just had an invisible Freddy fight him in a Japanese setting.
They had Freddy assemble by melting him and then reversing the footage.
My best was always the first 3. Ty, enjoyed your knowledge and commentary.
I agree! The dream sequences are visually incredible. Really successful execution
If you didn't like this one wait tI'll part 5 and Freddy's dead part 6.
Wes Cravens new nightmare is a masterpiece some fans even like it better than the original .
When you are done all 7 films will you do a franchise ranking ?
Good reaction. Hope you can eventually do From Beyond, Dead Alive and The Blob remake from the 80s, would all be good reactions if you haven't seen them
The voice dubbing could've been due to a lack of noise cancelling technology at the time, so outdoor scenes with hair blowing in the wind would have to be dubbed.
Great reaction! For the record this isn't one of my favourite Freddy films, i like Part 5 much more.
I really enjoy this one!. At this point Freddy was pretty much a mainstream figure and his puns came thick and fast in this which made it more entertaining than scary. If I had to rank them then it would be.
1) Part 3
2) part 1
3) New Nightmare
4) part 4
5) Freddy v Jason
6) part 2
7) Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare
8) Part 5 (I really didn't like this one when it came out and it's still the only one I rarely bother to revisit).
I just watched 5 yesterday and am editing over the next few days….yeah it’s…interesting…
I think 5 might have the lowest kill count of all of them
Wes Craven's New Nightmare is after Freddy's Dead.
I just watched 5 yesterday and am editing the reaction over the next few days! So keep an eye out! :)
String storytelling wait till Wes Cravens new nightmare , your mind will be blown !

Yes finally !❤
It's not ever going to be Oscar worthy, but an Elm Street film is a treat, good or cringey. 🤷 Enjoyed your honest take.
The song you like is called anything anything by dramarama
And I didn’t know about the writers strike!
@@ethanself2667 I have definitely hard of Never Sleep Again and cannot wait to watch it once I'm done with the series!!!
Do you have a Patreon?? Would love to see full reactions
I don’t!
I’ve thought about it but in these edits I pretty much include everything I say while I’m watching. The rest is basically me just sitting there starring at the movie haha
Well, please make a Patreon. I will subscribe, and I won't mind watching you sit there. Oh, my dog!! 🤦♂️ That sounds super creepy!! But, it's true. 😊
Robert Englund's favorite movie of the series.
I agree with a lot of your talking points at the end of the video...
Real quick, he did use Kristin to bring him more kids BUT he made sure he got the rest of the Elm Street kids also.
No disrespect but the movie explained what was going on but you were doing ya job, reacting. So, yea I hope you understood more when you or if you did the edit.
I do my edits :)
But honestly the motives still aren’t totally clear for me.
Any time line when you will be doing part 5 ?
I watched it the other day and will be editing over the next few days :)
Before you get to Freddy vs Jason are you going to watch the Friday The 13th movies first or after Freddy vs Jason?
I’ll go ahead and watch Freddy vs Jason :)
And not sure when I’ll watch the 13th movies.
Will you react to Patricia Arquette in the 1999 horror classic Stigmata ?
Plz
Was Freddy ever defeated, or did the protagonists just believe strongly enough that they had defeated him
Good question
