I don't know that I would be able to handle bootcamp, but the kind of soldier they make out of bootcamp is what I would give the world to be so I'm sure I'd be reminding myself of that the whole time it felt unbearable.

Show integrity and you will make it. After that leave it all on the battle field.. Be respectful to the weaklings in the civilian world.
Cint Roberts I hope you mean weaklings in the civilian world as in not all civilians. I trained in MMA with a man who is a 6th degree black belt in over 5 martial arts forms. And plus, Navy Seal training and British SAS training is even harder than Marine Corps. Plenty of civilians that could do hand to hand combat with a marine that can hold their own.
A marine would not hold a candle to an mma fighter.. they are not trained like that. They learn mental toughness and they run their asses off but they are not extensively trained in hand to hand

It was nothing like that it was worst than that when I went in 1968 at Parris Island we were up for 2 days straight and had 10 DI'S double times us to third battalion I thought that we were going to the end of the earth are sea bags were so heavy but as I look back at it was done for a reason

A commanding officer can *not* punish you "at his discretion" under Article 15 unless you're at sea.Otherwise he can propose to punish you under NJP but you can refuse it. If you refuse the matter may,or may not,be brought to court martial.
Ughh! I feel so stressed for the new recruits. I hate not knowing what I’m supposed to be doing and having to do it right the first time. That would be the hardest part ... day 1! I’m so sad, no, broken, that I couldn’t...didn’t join. I tried. Something awful happened the day before I signed up. In HighSchool I had Straight As. Honor roll. Above average IQ. Athlete, track cheerleading 🙄 Nailed my ASVAP. Was a Dead eye w a gun. 20/20, ran 7 miles each night just because, had no record etc (same shit different marine recruit). The Army recruiters started calling immediately in HighSchool after my ASVAP. I said no. I had a college scholarship for Biology. Was also going to night school while in HighSchool to be a Paramedic to help w college. A yr later, i changed my mind. Everything was the same, except now I was a paramedic and in college. Also, I wanted to be a Marine. One morning, I got the guts and walked into the Marine recruiting office after a blizzard cancelled college classes. I was so nervous I remember saying, Hello SIR! My names NATALIE. Can i just join the Marines and while im at it, can I still be a PARAMEDIC since that’s already what I am?” AND If at all possible, can the Marines eventually make me a doctor, so my parents don’t yell at me.. Sir? 😂 The recruiter looked at me like I was bat shit crazy and started laughing. Then said, Hi Natalie, my name is Sergeant Bob Harris. Sit down. We have a lot to talk about! Talk we did! He literally went to my parents house and got them to support me. (They weren’t thrilled I was leaving a scholarship in biology for the military) He even ... stalked(?) me a bit. 😂 Accidentally Bumped into me as i was running my nightly 7 miles and ran w me, I’d find hs card w a note under my wind shield wiper... coming out of Walmart at midnight..or after class. He took me, my parents, my bf out to dinner several times. I was so excited. Of course they promised I’d be a military medic while active. (Idk if that was blowing smoke? It made sense.) Even though i wanted to be a Marine & I came to them a year out of HighSchool. He still had to work on recruiting me. I was19 scared and unsure. Desert Storm had killed a friend of mine and that’s where I thought I’d be going. So did my dad. Quitting college to knowingly go straight to war was scary, but I wanted to join so badly, that over road my fear of Desert Storm. He a spent good time getting to know me and trust in my decision. Not just Marine to prospective marine talk... but human to human. Sadly, Like I said, Something really awful happened the night before I was officially committing to join. Somehow my recruiter knew before I even had to tell him. He vanished. No more calls. Nothing. I was ... hurt to be honest. Asshole Marines... or so I thought. It wasn’t until after was discharged from the hospital days later I knew better. He had left me a letter under my windshield at the hospital. The night of the incident! Among other things, He told me if and when I recovered... he would still be there for me. As a Marine... or as a friend. Hopefully, one day...as both. He said committing at that time was my decision. No longer his to push. It was beyond anything I would expect from a recruiter... or anyone else I’d known for only a month. Regretfully, I wasn’t able to join... due to my own decision. Still, I made & kept a friend!

This is nothing like when I was in the Marine Corps in 68 it was a l more roughfer back then you got bet by the DI'S and if you you didn't confirm to there rules you went to CCP or Movation plt. till they felt you your ready to go back to training or you got a Discharge from the Marine Corps and it could take up to six months to get a Discharge and buy that time your Plt. had finished boot camp that is what the DI'S told you, I was lucky and finished boot camp with my Plt.

Anytime I hear of a young man or a young lady going into ANY branch of the service I always remember the words of my Senior Drill Instructor who said, "Do what you are told, WHEN you are told, and do it to the best of your ability." @@DDDiego it was a good experience. Boot camp was definitely more mentally demanding than physical. The fleet was chill especially since I was a radio marine in an arty unit so I didn’t have to deal with the physical aspect of artillery. It was a good experience overall
Yes they do sound the same, but when you get your in your Platoon, you know each Drill Instructors voice. BTW in the Marine Corps their Drill Instructors... Drill Sergeant is Army. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant.

However if enough f bombs are dropped the senior DI will check the kill hats, but give them one good fuck up and they’re back to grilling. I love drill instructors man

Justine Lim My boyfriend just left for the Marine bootcamp and what they do with your personal items is keep them stored in a bin/bag and just store it away until you graduate. Highly recommend only bring the items your recruiter tells you to bring. Do not bring your phone.
Basically everything general issue that doesn’t require it to be sized to the individual recruit. It makes it easier to have all that stuff already sorted and packed than to go through a process of issuing along with all the stuff that has to be sized to fit

Anytime I hear of a young man or a young lady going into ANY branch of the service I always remember the words of my Senior Drill Instructor who said, "Do what you are told, WHEN you are told, and do it to the best of your ability." If you follow those instructions you'll be okay. Good luck to you!
How did it go?
@@DDDiego it was a good experience. Boot camp was definitely more mentally demanding than physical. The fleet was chill especially since I was a radio marine in an arty unit so I didn’t have to deal with the physical aspect of artillery. It was a good experience overall
All drill sergeants sound exactly the same 😂
Yes they do sound the same, but when you get your in your Platoon, you know each Drill Instructors voice. BTW in the Marine Corps their Drill Instructors... Drill Sergeant is Army. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant.

@@nathanielhermanson6987 I was stationed on MCRD San Diego for awhile and lemme tell you they will gladly drop f bombs if circumstances warrant the response. However if enough f bombs are dropped the senior DI will check the kill hats, but give them one good fuck up and they’re back to grilling. I love drill instructors man
I have a question what will happend to the things that they will take away example your clothes and watch and wallet credit card ? I have questions before joining the marine will they just throw away your things ?
Justine Lim My boyfriend just left for the Marine bootcamp and what they do with your personal items is keep them stored in a bin/bag and just store it away until you graduate. Highly recommend only bring the items your recruiter tells you to bring. Do not bring your phone.
You'll get them back upon completion of Boot Camp. Nothing is thrown away.

Basically everything general issue that doesn’t require it to be sized to the individual recruit. It makes it easier to have all that stuff already sorted and packed than to go through a process of issuing along with all the stuff that has to be sized to fit
