Bought one for my personal collection . A superb 4x4 with V6 3.6. I was pleasantly surprised, with a simple reprogramming of the control unit we reached 340 HP. The car does not have a turbo, but it reaches 0 to 100 km in 5.6 seconds.
I never thought a Skoda Superb review would make me crave crisps.
The name Superb like the other Škoda names (Rapid, Octavia, Felicia ...) Comes from historical cars. First Škoda Superb is from 1936 and in nowadays they just started costruct it again.
You got to love these Superbs! I own a Superb and most kids in my class stare at it. 😁 And little did you know it's classed as a limousine!

Hello, how would you compare the handling of this with that of the mondeo mk4? Especially the steering response and feedback, as the body roll could be corrected easily by changing the anti roll bars.

Just got a new one, 2.0l diesel, 4x4 125kw and its awesome. The space is great, and I can sit behind myself no problem (6'4). The twin gate is pretty useful as well, because the saloon-like opening is quite small and is big enough for shopping bags only if you ask me. So far I have been doing 7 l/100km (don't know the mpg figure), but I have been driving in town only and of course, been pushing it a bit too much... on the highway going 130 km/h it consumes around 4.8 l/100km, which is great, considering it is DSG 4x4. Would recommend!! :)

Thank you! Already did more than 10.000km, would say that half of this figure I drove on highways, half in the city, and still my long term fuel consumption is 6.9 l/100km. Great car for longs distances, however the ride is a little bit too firm for my taste- 18' wheel; definitely recommend going 17's or 16's for better comfort. :) No other complains! :)

Thanks for the comment back! The ride can be improved, if you go down a size or two with the wheels, I think. Just beware of the catalytic converter, it might clog itself due to the short trips, it happened to one of my friends once, and it's expensive to replace!
Yea, I just got my winter tyres 16'. :) Thanks for the tip, however I do lots of travelling, so not really my fear ;)

I think Skoda's sales figures speak for themselves. Most normal people think they're attractive otherwise they wouldn't buy them. Myself..I don't really care whether its ugly or pretty..as long as they're reliable and efficient, which they are. Better get back to staring at yourself in the mirror..since you're so concerned with looks.

For example where i live, estate is considered "normal" for family car. Sedans (liftbacks) are mostly used as taxis.

Yes they are, the rear bench lifts letting the seat backs sit flat in the estate. In the hatch the bench is fixed and the seats remain angled
Yeah.. I guess it's a blend of that and just personal preference.

In the UK, the term "liftback" is almost unused, they use "hatchback" or "fastback" instead.

The ride in normal Superb is different. This is due to the greenline badge. They made it slightly more firm to be more economical.

Just thought - why do cars today still have that furry lining material in the boot etc.? I've never liked that furry material since it looks ugly when worn a bit and if it gets wet it takes forever to dry out, Just wondering why some more modern and more practical lining material isn't in use. Just wondering...
I prefere this version to the superb combi. I think it looks more "representative" this way. And i also think that everyone buying this car should go at least for 2.0 diesel or 1.4 TSI and miss the greenline option.

Cubby holes and storage spaces are great and all, but if I don't put something on the seat, right there beside me, then it can be in a cubby hole for years.

i was reffering to looks aswell. Most people where i live like the looks of estate more. We like sportscars too but sedan in our eyes is for boring business people. When we see estate, we see someone with family. But as im saying it differs from country to country. In italy they like mini cars, in russia they like limousines, in america they like big engines stuck onto 70's rusted cars etc.

Not really, everyone else manages just fine. Having a restraining cable to stop it opening fully would be much cheaper than a twindoor system.

I disagree with your point on the boot. It's exactly the same thing Jeremy Clarkson says about opening rear windows on 4x4s. It's a valid point, right up until you get into a multi-story car park or garage...
