In case you too want to sing along with the Spanish national anthem, here are the words- "La, la la la, la la la la la la la la la la la la la, la la la la la laaaaa!"
"La la la" the Spanish song won Eurovision contest in London 1968 as well... maybe you english are so simple that we have to display easy lines for you to understand... 😊😊😊😊
I'm proud of what Southgate has done for us as England manager. He deserved to bow out on his own terms and he's done a great job at creating a team that does seem to enjoy playing together. I'm with Alfie, I'd rather see us in the mix then win a trophy and then drop standards, but I do hope that we win something within my lifetime!
So you'd rather be in 2 finals and 1 semifinal and not win, than to win one and don't make it past the round of 16 in other 3 tournaments. That's exactly the mentality that made England not win a single trophy for what? 58 years? Because you'd rather lose than win lmfao. Look at Italy who didn't even qualify for the last world cup but have won 1 world cup and 1 euro this century. And many others before. Ask them what they prefer and they'd take the trophies. Ask England what they prefer, and they'd take "being in the mix" rather than the trophy. You lot deserve all the suffering from the national football team because that's literally what you want. Masochists
As a European person I can only say thank you to the English team for taking part and bringing their game to the continent. It may not have been the best, but it certainly wasn't the worst. I also admire the ability of the English national team to reunify the rest of Europe and to provide us with so much joy like they did in the final. Football truly came home.
Fascinating history about the stadium, I am very surprised that it was not demolished after the war as it is such a prominent symbol of the Nazi regime.
Really glad you got a ticket for the final, would like to hear a little bit more about how that came about? As always a fantastic vid, you're a great broadcaster with both an informed and human touch. Hope to see more of yourself in vids doing some travelling / going to matches etc. as well as the usual excellent content. Cheers :)
Catalunya was apparently unusually enthusiastic this time. I'll have to ask my Basque colleagues how it was for them. Probably still not as exciting as Athletic Club winning the cup.
Foreigners seem to think that there's a bloody civil war going on in Spain, most people from Catalunya and the Basque country feel just as Spanish as a guy from Madrid
Let’s see if we can figure out how to properly lay down a pitch. I played on university pitches that were better than the ones at the Copa América. Shambolic.
have you seen the copa? i'm sorry but that was such a waste of a perfectly good tournament, the games themselves were great but those always more than half empty stadiums, which was more than the camera crews were able to hide away and the weird atmosphere, oh and then there was the final of course, with the chaos of americans simply underestimating the ingenuity of football fans wanting to see a game combined with completely unprepared police officers badly handling the situation... they have to seriously top up their game if they want this to be a success.
One thing I really love about Alfie's videos is that he isn't afraid to call Adolf Hitler by his full name. Other youtubers I've seen censor themselves when talking about that horrible part of human history, and it's refreshing to see a content creator who doesn't do that
I agree. I think some creators are worried about being demonetised if they say certain words. I've heard the name of a certain infamous virus being skirted around at times.

100% agree. I also whinced when my stupid countrymen jeered at Cucurella every time he touched the ball because his handball wasn't judged as a penalty. Idiots.
@@richbrowes7991I can’t remember where I heard it, but someone said Southgate isn’t THE Guy, but he’s the Guy before the Guy. And, as much as I despise England in football and hope they never win another trophy, if England choses the right manager I have to agree.
Totally agree with what you said about the next England manager not necessarily having to be some massive name. Out of the realistic appointments i would choose Lee Carsley over a Potter or Howe, given his time in the England setup and his Euros win with the under 21s meaning a lot of experience in international tournaments. Potter and Howe are good managers but too much of a risk when really we're in a great position and dont need someone to come in and change too many things. Obviously this changes if Klopp becomes available (but that won't happen)
30:49 - to be fair - Kane, playing with an injury, especially a Back one, was to some degree physically holding England back, he COULDN'T play to the best of his ability due to the injury, I wasn't through any choice of his, but nonetheless, playing through an injury is the definition of holding a team back. IMO, He wasn't helping with his extreme tracking back, neither his condition, or the team.
As someone from Germany I think Southgate did an outstanding and consistent job bringing England far in every tournament he coached in. LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE ONE. He just got unlucky. Sadly he resigned now. Apparently Joachim Löw is in the running for England coach for some people. Löw is the German Southgate with the same perception. England fans would suffer under his tactics but he would deliver like Southgate. I want to see it it would be super funny.
Löw delivered at the start and also offered great football. Then the football turned stale when he decided to have Germany play handball around the penalty area and he stopped delivering.
He got lucky with an easy group and easier side of the draw. If they'd have been in the other side if the draw they wouldn't have got near the final. The thing about fans attending if Scotland had got to that final the amount of Scots that would have been there would have been unbelievable.
Love that intro and I really enjoy your content but I have to admit I was rooting against England. Spain was the best team in this tournament. Well deserved win
I visited Berlin in April and did the stadium tour. It’s a magnificent stadium and the history makes it even more interesting. So I’m very glad this stadium was kept and renovated. We even went to a Hertha Berlin game and the atmosphere was amazing!!
Quite possibly a controversial and highly unlikely pick, but based on this tournament and qualifying, i would like to see what willy sagnol and his team could do with england, given the incredible job theyve done with the georgian national team
It's been like this in almost all stadiums in Germany until the Eighties because most Stadium had been multi-purpose stadiums. Most of them have been owned by the municipalities and the clubs paid rent on game day.
I know exactly what you mean. I’m a big fan of the German national team, and I look back at their 2006 and 2010 World Cup campaigns with joy. I know they didn’t win the either of the cups, but they had a nice run and were beat by two good teams. No shame in that. And they did manage to win the third place playoffs, which made the semifinal defeats bearable. But even if they hadn’t, their campaigns filled me with hope and joy. However, the World Cup win in 2014 was the greatest football experience I ever had. To sum up things, I think you should be proud that England, although unreasonably lucky at times, reached the final two times in a row. No matter how you frame it, it’s a great achievement. And I say this as a football fan who absolutely despises the English national team 😂 Edit: I also witnessed German final defeats in 2002 and 2008. Although I was disappointed at the time, I now count those silver medals as achievements for the team. And when England finally wins a tournament, those silver medals of theirs will be counted as achievements, too, even though they are of little consolation to many England fans at this moment.
England played better when kane was not on the pitch if that cause hes carrying an injury, or cause hes past it i dont know but he probably shouldn't have been starting at this tournament
Spanish football culture in traveling to away games is weird because it's dependant on the distance first (it's not the same when there's a regional derby like Real Madrid vs Atlético Madrid or Real Betis vs Sevilla FC or the FC Barcelona vs RCD Espanyol or even, Real Zaragoza vs SD Huesca, my regional derby due to both cities being 50 mins from another than when you have a Real Zaraga vs FC Cartagena that is like 6-7 hours by car without stopping, Spain is a huge country), also, the clubs hosting the games tends to not have a lot of tickets for aways supporters, that's why you don't see a lot of away supporters in stadiums but depending on the team, they can be more louder than the home supporters(shoutouts to the Racing de Santander's away supporters because they're loud and they don't stop supporting until the end of the game even if the team is losing), that doesn't mean there's travel to another cities and being in the outskirts of the stadium even if you don't have a ticket just to show your support to your team, there's a lot of diehard fans. Also, by recommendations, I'd like to you to check out LaLiga's 2nd division last season called LaLiga Hypermotion due to sponsor ties with EA nicknamed LaLiga Hypertensiones between fans because it was one heck of a season that LaLiga more prestigious 1st division would like, nothing except for a couple of things was decided until the last day because it's true that two teams were relegated like weeks earlier but, for example, the winner was decided that day, the teams that'll go through promotion playoffs were decided that day too and even the promotion playoffs were crazy. The quality of football is not that good tbh but knowing that most teams were equal is amazing. Also, the team that was promoted by finishing second was managed by a manager that the fans didn't like and the guy started shouting about being fired in the promotion celebration lmao.
Please do hire Tuchel next. I can't wait to see how England fare with a manager that gets petulant with journos whenever the team underperforms for more than two games in a row. It will be a spectacularly bad appointment.
Yeah, would be truly entertaining :D Tuchel is a good manager tactically and he is also quite good with the players. He is hopeless with anybody else though including the press and club management.

@@hisham_hm that’s the difference between winning and losing. The English today won’t even know what you are talking about. We Germans know you are talking about the „Wembley goal“. Even today all shots hitting the bar and bouncing towards the goal line are called „Wembley“.
Yes, Kane, and therefore, Southgate definitely should've factored in his injury. It did diminish England's prospects in the end and may have made their progression easier if he was rested in the group stage and even dropped if the injury was persistent... tad selfish by Kane and a bad decision by Southgate to play him despite a great record with England...
Im not english but I think that today good players care more about their clubs than the national team. Why they should risk injury for the national team when the big money comes from their club? As an Argentinian, watching Argentina lose 3 finals, 3 years in a row, was devastating. So I feel you 😢 But at least you sound optimistic. I lost all hope on the team after that and even skipped the 2021 copa América because I had lost all interest in the team from everything before that (plus the pandemic and life) but I went into Qatar a bit more hopeful. Hopefully you get that same experience (even though I'd rather not have England win anything because english fans would be obnoxious 😂)

G Southgate has been great for you guys Alfie-- never seen England so competitive against the Real top nations as they've been under Southgate. I'll leave the strategy talk to you guys & gals. That's just my take on G Southgate...
Kane's an amazing player but i think hje should of been subbed earlier in matches, if you look at him and morrata they basically had the same job but kane jus wasnt up to it due to injury or whatever, Toney looked a threat almost everytime he got on and with the limited time he did have he made more of an impact than kane did with a lot more minutes, that's my only criticism of Southgate. the people saying disgusting things about him must be forgetting all those other england squads that got to the final and won over the last couple of decades.....
You appear to be a likeable england supporter which is very rare indeed. However you're non-recording of your reaction to the last two goals leaves me very suspicious. I suspect you may carry on like the rest of the England yobs. Prince William included.
Alfie talking about Basque and Catalan players like half of the england squad are african, who of course they are very proud of their african heritage but represent their colonial oppressors
I'd say your theory that Spanish fans don't attend away games very much because of separatist movements doesn't make sense, let's say that about half of the people in Catalunya and the Basque Country are independentists, which I know is an overstatement because I live in Catalunya, it's more like a third, even if it was half, that would mean that you have to reduce the number of people potentially proud of being Spanish in 4 to 5 million. That means that there's still more than 40 million people in Spain who are not separatist, and we have seen countries with ten times less population than Spain, like Croatia, pack more people in a stadium than Spain, so the theory is nonsense, I would stick to your first theory that Spanish football culture is different
Yeah, also that prices for flights and tickets for the finals weren't cheap so it's more complicated than the whole point of separatism. Also, we just watch it on TV because it's free or go to a meetup point and watch with friends or even unknown people because your city decided to put it on a big screen in either the streets or a pavilion. That and we kinda didn't expect to see us winning the whole thing because of the team, it's a young team with an inexperience manager in major senior tournaments (this was his first major senior tournament in his career) since he was managing the under categories of the Spanish national teams before he got the call to be the main manager for the senior team, yeah we won the last Nations League with him but that doesn't represent your performance in the Euros tbh.
I personally dont bother to watch the rubish games... let alone to travel. I wait at home till the Final and then I enjoy the victory having a few drinks and ciggys... otherwise Id had to waste my entire life and money moving among the noisy mob... Just imagine... Champions, Wimbledon, Roland Garros... Eurocups, World Cup... Being spaniard in this times can be hard... very hard.
To have this attitude towards football is something a 60 year old man would attain like a person who follows a religion only attains by attaining their version of ascention 😂 to have it and to share it i say thank you.
The thing is that other people only had to sing their anthem one or two times and thats all... we spanish had to sing always and another time again when we win the whole thing so its better not to have lyrics in order to be more relaxed the next day...
The most frustrating thing about Kane is that, when it comes to him playing for England, he doesn't score goals that any other striker worth their salt wouldn't score. They're mostly penalties and tap in goals. He goes missing in big games against the higher ranked teams. His golden boot in the World Cup was the scuffiest of all golden boots, including a hat trick against Panama.
Being Spanish is complicated but you are wrong they are well supported as a team, basque and Catalan national teams would murder England in laughable fashion
If the Spanish national team only narrowly beat England, what makes you think a Basque or Catalan team would 'murder England in laughable fashion'? Pretty arrogant comment.

i love you Alfie
To be honest, BYD don't make cars they make exploding boxes on wheels.
Trust me. It is far better to win something occasionally and then be bad inbetween that be good but never win anything.
As an Argentinian, watching Argentina lose 3 finals, 3 years in a row, was devastating. So I feel you 😢
But at least you sound optimistic.
More obnoxious than Martinez in 2022 and Enzo in 2024?
I don't think Argentinians are in a position to call any other country obnoxious at the moment...
I love Alfie truly awful thumbnails 😂😂😂
And the fact that this guy comes off as an ai programmed robot
The outro live to cam 🤯
From a colombian to an english i feel you bro
Hi Irish Guy! I know you're around here somewhere lol
Remember everyone, it's not about winning every single cup, every single time, but it's about taking parts, enjoying yourself, having fun in the field, just perticipating and having a good heart. Thanks.
None of which applied to England at this tourney. :,)
@@LeftJoystick In 2 years time, world cup will be on, and there is a big, big chance, football will be coming home. Ok.
@@EAGLE29-TIMEif they can’t beat the best in europe, i don’t see them beating the best teams from the rest of the world

England was just happy to be there
England got the Spain wuthout the S in theut arse. Stay humble lads

Alfie how can you mention 2022 and not talk about the foul that led to a goal!
Surely Lamine Yamal has had the greatest debut season from a teenager
Pele at the same age in 1957. IIRC he was scoring a goal a game in Brazil.

Another easy draw for Southgate.
Every time he came up against proper competition he always lost.
Are you going to enjoy Berlin’s famous nightlife while you’re there?
Spanish nationalism is a touchy subject but every four years the autonomous regions tolerate their ‘Spanishness’
More like two years tbh (the interval between Euros and WC)
Yep there was a BIG turnout in Plaça de Catalunya this final
why wasnt Kane rested? Surely Watkins and Toney manage to be enough for a fucking draw vs Denmark and Slovenia ffs
10:30 - is that MEUTE? Sure looks like it, lucky lad.
Also, if you are going to say Iñaki by accident... The enye is a sort of melded 'ny' sound; e-nya-ki or thereabouts :P
Misery is coming home!!!!
You should watch the ladies team. It came home 2 years ago.
I know, I was there!

Is he Alfie "Posh" Harmer?...serious question
You appear to be a likeable england supporter which is very rare indeed. However you're non-recording of your reaction to the last two goals leaves me very suspicious. I suspect you may carry on like the rest of the England yobs. Prince William included.
What on earth are you talking about

Being spaniard in this times can be hard... very hard.
your pronounciation of german words is almost good
Spain hit by torrential flooding, not so smug now are you?
To have this attitude towards football is something a 60 year old man would attain like a person who follows a religion only attains by attaining their version of ascention 😂 to have it and to share it i say thank you.
What do the Spanish fans actually chant during their national anthem?
"LOLOLOLO..." The anthem doesn't have lyrics.
@@xsc8929 Yep & even with the LOLOLO we get it wrong... we jump a verse & head straight to the end chorus 😂
@@manuelrodriguez2637 Exactly 😂. It happened in every match 💀💀💀
@@xsc8929 🤦♂️
The thing is that other people only had to sing their anthem one or two times and thats all... we spanish had to sing always and another time again when we win the whole thing so its better not to have lyrics in order to be more relaxed the next day...
Its da histori of da Inglend
The most frustrating thing about Kane is that, when it comes to him playing for England, he doesn't score goals that any other striker worth their salt wouldn't score. They're mostly penalties and tap in goals. He goes missing in big games against the higher ranked teams. His golden boot in the World Cup was the scuffiest of all golden boots, including a hat trick against Panama.
yeah pretty funny that he gets credited for scoring more goals than Haaland
he played in the Bundesliga man
Inaki Williams
OYARZABAL‼️‼️
Can you specify England men at least? Because the Lionesses have obviously gone one better at the Euros...
