As a 49 year old dude that's been into RC's since 1985. One thing I'll give Traxxas.. They don't often discontinue the bread and butter RC's. It's very appreciated. Parts are cheap and they're easy to work on. If I had young kids, this Stampede would be a perfect beginner RC instead of the brittle Tamiya cars I grew up with. Love where RC has come to. So many options and some killer cars available for all driving styles.
and hoss & stampede vxl too I just bought mine on eBay I'm with you Steve I appreciate that and I think Traxxas is bleeping up big time canceling models I have emailed them like they care but if I want something to be canceled the second I buy it I always have Horizon and it's a direct result of them canceling the hoss and stampede vxl that I just figured I'd buy the old stampede because I know I love it and I know it's cheap and I know it goes balls to the wall . Shipped 225 vxl even has the peak charger couple Traxxas batteries and the box. if it was 169 like it should've been I might've bought the vehicle JT has I had it in the cart but I figured why would I do that when I could buy a VXL on eb it'll be scratched in five minutes buy one pre scratched. even has a new body! So Traxxas lost a sale there & they probably wanna keep an eye on canceling models or they're gonna lose me as a customer entirely
Don’t have to sell me on Traxxas. I’ve had a lot of their nitro vehicles in the past and now a few of their electric ones. I recently bought the Gorgon too and love it! To me it seems like this Stampede jumps a little farther than the Gorgon. When you did the Gorgon run here I don’t remember it clearing that big middle jump as easily as the stampede. Regardless I love them both! Great video. Thank you for always doing normal driving, informative videos on these cars. Yea it’s fun to watch some of these guys send them 50 foot into the stratosphere until they break. But for me, a regular RC guy, I wanna see what these can do and how they perform under normal driving, bashing conditions. You rock man!
Actually it’s not way faster out of the box. JayTee got the same top speed results with the stampede as the Gorgon, 25mph. He clearly stated that in this video. It could be because the stampede has quicker acceleration, but it’s top speed is the same.
I actually love these machines I have one that I just got going again. From the 90s really old but still so damn reliable and even if something does break I can still get parts!!!
I got my daughter a stampede last year first thing I did to it for her was bearings and a wheelie bar. Been a great rig. I think I’m going to go brushless in it next summer as she’s pretty good with it.
Got the 2wd vxl stampede! Wheelies all day! Not to mention can't hit full trigger without the front coming up! I love it and is one of my best go to r.c's.! It just rips! 👍👍😎🛸👽
I’m a bit of an Arrma fan myself. But this did look like fun and it did get some cleaner looking runs on the jumps. I may have to try a Traxxas out after all.
Looks like you live in North Carolina or Virgina also how do you change lipo mode on the brushed xl5 system didn't know you could I've been wanting the aarma granite but i believe I'm gonna have to get both eventually my dad used to race the old Nitro version back in the day when i was a kid i loved that truck.
You said they did an upgrade on the shock caps? Is that able to add onto the older stampedes? Reason i ask, i have an old one that im building up to drive again with a hw esc and motor.
I don’t have a stampede 2wd….but I do have the Trx Bigfoot which is basically same thing. Love that thing! Gorgon appears to be a heck of a value and looks to run very well. Shame it’s so ugly! 🤣🤷🏼♂️😜
I love no frills basic rcs. I had an arrma granite 3s and never loved it. I downgraded to a rustler xl5 and have never had so much fun. I do not understand why everyone thinks they need extremely fast $1000 rcs when $200 is enough to get you just as much fun.

I had stampede 2wd in 2014, I sold it 2018. Now I have bigfoot. Its xl-5, still love to run that truck!❤
I just saw your video. Used my old bearings from my vxl on the front end of my stampeed. Made a world of difference.

Wait, they didm't discontinue the 4wd stampede. They just came out with a new one with the bl2s system and the extreme duty kit preinstalled.

Had a stampede a few years. Never have gotten this speed out of it. Is a LiPo battery making that much of a difference?

No Traxxas didn't upgrade on the shock caps. They've done it to all their vehicles

If you want a fun electric get a 2WD stampede brushless on 3S. If you want a fun nitro get a TMaxx 3.3
