Hi Joe, That is a great tractor. The high speed trans is quite rare so good save. I would say it is a very late tractor, The rubber steering wheel is on later ones, the down draft carby and manifold is also an indicator. Look for engine number and trans confirmation on the bell housing where the engine and gearbox join I think on starter motor side. The H on the final drive cover indicates it is hyrdrolic compatible. You can see the machined face on it and holes to take the bolts to mount a 3PL kit where the seat is mounted. Yes the step is standard too. The large lugs on the draw bar are for the lower 3PL arms to be attached. I do wonder about the wheels. These were cast in Australia and E1A wheels may have found there way onto the final E27Ns who knows But more likely these rims had good tyres and so they just changed them over, bit of a mistory. Cheers Dave.

      Thanks for the info Dave.
I was under the impression that all e27n's had aluminium steering wheels.
I'm 90% sure that the rear wheels have been changed at some point but I could be wrong

Knowing absolutely nothing about Fordsons when you checked oil it looked like dipstick was way back by transmission. How is it that sump extends back that far.

From my understanding the engine and transmission share the same oil

They also don't have an oil pump the engine is a splash fed system

@@joesgarage8372 Now that’s interesting and unusual. If that is the case I would think it would also have a wet clutch of some sort. If you ever run across any literature on it that would be interesting to see, at least to me.

@oldamericaniron5767 Yes, they do have a wet clutch. I don't know why the latter tractors went away from that it seems like a good idea.
I might have a service manual for it I'll have to have a look
