I really was lucky to get the chance to visit China so soon after the strict covid restrictions ended. I didn't have much time to film but used as much time as I could. So I couldn't really show the amazing attractions and street food China has to offer. Eating in Malls is and restaurants in high storey buildings is popular in Beijing , not so aesthetic for you the viewers , but the quality of the food is nevertheless outstanding. Finally , many in particularly the UK like a dish called crispy aromatic duck. It's a bit of a cheap and convenient alternative to Beijing Duck which is the real deal. Not many European Chinese restaurants offer it or serve it properly (often putting it on the menu and serving up some sliced reheated Hong Kong roast duck. A few do, and if you get the chance , I strongly recommend trying it.
Hello again Muttonista. Am I right in guessing the street that mall was on is formerly known as "Silver Street?" That's very close to the Marriot in the centre of Beijing. That's where I reckon a Beijing resident would take their English visitor because it's the most famous shopping street. The big main road there which I think your hotel was on and goes into Tiananmen Sq. If you go away from the square a couple of miles That's where my girlfriend's Godfather's apartment was across the road "Jianguomenwei" from the silk market. We went out one night to a fish restaurant where you could pick your fish from tanks that made up the walls of the dining area. That restaurant had its menu in English and for one of the dishes it read "Fried Mush Roomsand Fish Lips." It took me a while to work out what it was. I was like, "I'm not having the fried mush and I don't like the sound of roomsand!" I noticed you went under the golden arches of McDonald's there. When we went in 1998 we only saw one McDonald's and one KFC the whole time we were there. It was very foreign to me and I thought of myself as being well-travelled. I got the Willie's at first and it took some getting used to. I remember one time we went for a cycle ride and a load of office workers outside a building were pointing at me, laughing at my hairy legs to each other. An experience I'll never forget.
Well I get taken around but I do really like the hardcore Chinese food . So I am not so familiar with the Geography, but I can assure you that I’m not really lured by the Golden Arches or Col Sanders wherever I am , let alone China! While not a fan of Chinese breakfasts (apart from Dim Sum) I can eat Chinese food every day twice a day for a month happily!
I took the dog for a walk this morning and I became aware of something watching us so I looked about and saw a pair of eyes in a bush, on closer examination it was a Peking Duck.
Near 40 years ago went all across China without seeing a fork - learned chopsticks fast. No camera equipment then, and we were allowed to bring but one camera that to be acounted for on exit, for fear it would be left an copied by the chinese. How things have changed!! You sem to eat a lot of tripe YUK. when my grandmother cooked tripe or chitterlings - made sure to stay away. Luckily grew up where frog legs, and eating the cheeks from fish heads was comon. So ate much beter than my collegues. Fat is ok to eat as long as it is a small amount. To keep from dying young. I liked their Peken duck with the crispy skin, which have never had near so good since. How fortunate you are to be there.
Yes I was lucky to be able to visit shortly after they re opened . As for tripe , I like some of the European preparations, it’s something that’s tasty if cooked correctly and not overdone or underseasoned
You frequently reference work as being the reason for your travels, without to my recollection mentioning what that work is. I’m gonna guess you’re an international assassin. I’m right, aren’t I. 😄

Seriously see a Dentist 😅
so agree, caps would change your appearance, and give you a smile to make you vlogs more popular. In fact while overseas cosmetic dentistry is cheap.
