IFI employee here - The key to getting into UN/World Bank similar organizations is first gaining extensive field knowlodge in policy implementation easy way is working as entry level consultant or similar short term roles in your domain but in public policy. For e.g if you are an economics grad search for Niti Aayog or similar roles even if its in your home state level. Get 6-7 years of extensive field knowledge then try to get associated with firms or projects who work closely with UN or World Bank. Another 3-4 years may be and you are all set for a career in UN system. Very important is to choose your stream dont work in some general administration be specific like finance, economics, public procurement, engineering, welfare and health or similar domains
Brownie Points - 1. if you have some spare money definetly get a masters from an overseas college university. 2. Work as an intern in some big shots like MBB. 3. Work in some underdeveloped country like Ghana or Guinea Bissau or some pacific islands like Fiji.

Please keep academics as your option if you are a middle class, I mean go for a career in the teaching field. Prepare upsc with that. It will help you on your journey. This my suggestion as someone who has appeared for multiple state pcs exams also upsc once. Upsc is not a career option, it is just another job that you will do to earn your livelihood. So being a little practical always a good idea. Incase you clear upsc well and good, incase you don't you won't become depressed you will have something in your hands. In case you are interested in pursuing law go for that, I have seen many of my friends pursuing law while preparing for upsc. As far as delhi university is concerned I can tell you that it is just like any other college, there is nothing special there, you find a particular college you study and you graduate that is it. Nothing fancy. Asaan bhasa mai bolu toh kuch khaas nhi hai, vahi teachers, vahi bache, thoda fest vageraah theek thak hota hai lekin tum vaha degree ke liye jate ho , sirf ek stamp lagane ki mai delhi university se hu bs, mehnat karni padegi bahut agar (hons.) degree li hai humanities side se, number lane ke liye thodi zyada, I mean upsc level se thoda sa km magr mehnat ke bina nahi ane vale number. Should you prepare for UPSC is another question but I just wanted to say I watched a mock interview of a candidate who stammered and he obviously was a rank holder and got IAS but it was one of the best mock interview I have watched bcz his knowledge was in depth and he was asked lots of questions but he answered it all in a detailed way and even in review the board told him that he doesn't need any change. He already informed the board that he stammers and told them that he might take some time in answering but they said it's alright and even in review they said stammering doesn't affect anything and any board is patient enough to give you your time
