    On the other side of the river is perfect serenity and peace. No frustration, aggravation, irritation,... None of that. No envy, no pride and no strife. Open heart and hands, must be driven and willing to work for it. We cannot do it alone. We need others for support and encouragement. The river represents the understanding of ppl. The less ppl who know, the stronger the current. The more who know, the slower and easier to cross becomes the river. Every mountain, he's accomplished sooooo much, but he still can't cross the river and just be at peace. It never stops because the flesh can never get enough.

    What I love about The Humbling River musically is the employment of the dissonance to enhance the meaning.
    Before you were on your own and living in some kind of opposition to society (17:39) - you can hear the false notes;
    Then you realize their value and make peace with them and with your place among them and the music clears into harmony (and the woman singer's beautiful vibrato).
    On a side note, that's one of the things I really appreciate about Schism as well. It also employed harmonic dissonance to represent the imagery of a troubled relationship.

    Puscifer covers a lot of musical genres. Some of my absolute favorite songs from them are Potions, Momma Sed and Telling Ghosts.

    The crux of this song for me is that through community , love and understanding we can transcend this life and move into the higher self , together , but also as one. We struggle every day, some of us more than others but each of us must accept the final crossing of the river and open our hearts to each other to make this journey. It’s beautifully written again by Maynard. He has incredible insight and an innate ability to transfer this to words and music, a true artist.

    "The Humbling River" reminds me of a line from the intro to another Puscifer song, "Simultaneous": "We will never know world peace until three people can simultaneously look each other straight in the eye."

    Fun fact....That noise in Faaip de Oiad is actually one of Danny's amps dying so they recorded it until it died.

    It’s a metaphor for humanity. Lots of questions no one knows the answer to...that’s the River. Break beyond that and you’ll see. Not many people do, and those who can are called crazy, or insane, or written off like Leonardo de Vinci in his time, Galileo..the list goes on. The point is to see that we are all humans. The river is what we need to cross to become more. No wars. No religions or governments telling us what to do. How to think. What to feel.

    I think 'the river' is a metaphor for all of the pain and suffering in the world. Money (riches), guns (war), aggression (muscle), etc., won't get any ONE across that river. But the taking of your neighbor's hand, altogether, will. No man is a river, it takes a village, and all of that
