    Great advice. You can break up your lighting hours to 5 hours, then turn off the lights during the daylight hours. After a three hour break, then go with another 5 hours lighting period. You’ll get 10 hours altogether, and ruin the algae growth conditions. Algae needs plenty of straight lighting hours to grow. Liquid Fertilizers are good as well. Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed watching!

    Your tank is beautiful! And thank you so much for all the information. My HUGE plant order from Buceplant arrives tomorrow and I'll be setting up a 20 gallon long tank. NERVOUS!!
    Just wanted to put a little fun fact about diatoms out there.... I thank my son for this knowledge because he makes me watch so many documentaries.
    "Diatoms are considered the largest primary producers of oxygen on our planet. It is estimated that through photosynthesis, diatoms produce between 20% and 40% of the oxygen we breathe. During photosynthesis diatoms use energy from light to convert water and carbon dioxide into sugars for food".
    Not sure we want an overabundance of them in our tanks but they definitely have their own special place in our world.

For a 20 long that should be perfect! for a 20 high I would definitely recommend the 3.0 its an epic light. If you ever wanted to run pressurized CO2 in the future that light is perfect! I'm using the 2.0 on my 20 high and I had to dim a it down to about 60%. It is low tech now. Hope this helps!. Thank you so much! ✌🙂

    How much fluval stratum do you use for a 10 gallon tank

    • @ThePlantedTankTV
      @ThePlantedTankTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bryan Rothe I like the use a lot compared to most people. I believe I used two 8.8lb bags of stratum. I think one 8.8lb and one 4.4lb bag should be perfect. I usually buy extra in case I want more. I use 3.5-4 inches and in bigger tanks 4-5 less in the front of course. ✌️😍

    What's the best filter for planted tanks

    • @ThePlantedTankTV
      @ThePlantedTankTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s really no such thing honestly. It’s more of what works best for you. I like the past filters the best. Especially the ones with built in heaters. The more equipment you can take out of the tank the better. You really want to focus more on what you put in your filter. My favorite is filter media is seachem matrix.

    • @DirtNassty

      Not enough to take care of the "problem"... Give your tank time and it will correct itself.. Just stay on top of your cleaning it up with water changes so it's not ugly to look at!
