Hi Rebecca, Those circular cast iron items with a slot coming out from the centre are weights to be fitted on a manual scale rod. The shop clerk would put the items being sold on one end (either a hook or a hooked up tray or plate) and on the other end of the swing arm there would be a hanging down rod to hold up the weights. Weights would be pilled up on on top of other until the scale hand pointed up dead centre.
Congratulations for keeping up this great piece of history for all. God bless!

This is a great video, reminding us of an age long past. And Rebbeca Hart is a fine reminder that there are wonderful young folks in our world. I even added Hart's Square Village to my future travels list.
My thought on the milling box in the window, I know nothing about tobacco farming, though it would make sense it's a tobacco mill. I did grow up on a fruit farm in upstate NY. We had ( & still have) a modern cider mill; but our neighbors bought a hand operated cider mill based on a far older style. Their's was square with a similar opening on top and the grinding wheel's gear handle on the outside, like the mill in this video. My guess would depend on if there is some sort of spigot or house for liquid collection.
Thank all for such a great video.

Such a cool place bringing back history. The young people is the thing that we need to go back to sometimes it’s really enjoyable to see that some of the old stuff in the store. I remember seeing my grandparents having they used to be tobacco farmers in Kentucky and I’ve seen some of the tools that you were showing. I didn’t know what they were called because I was a kid, but I do remember seeing them.😊

According to what John Ward has recently shared, is the trailers are cooled for the dead bodies and parts that are found, waiting for identification, when possible. It's a system for calamities from our government as most funeral homes have no "extra" accommodations for these bodies.
The bodies/parts will not be released to family or included in the death toll. Unless identification has been made, kin is notified, and cause of death on certificate has been completed.
So.. to generally answer you comments, people are staying in them, but they are not the survivors.

The case with lead shot is very interesting. I'm thinking that shot was used for a muzzleloader rather than a cartridge gun. I've never seen anything like that.

This has nothing to do with this video but could you find out why Fema has all those campers just parked in a big field and not giving them to the people who need them ???? I seen a video that Fema put out and they said people have to apply it see if they qualify. That is rediculus. hundreds of people are living in tents and are in need . What is wrong with our government ,county, state and most of all federal .I am very angry and i don't trust this government at all. I am send lots of Prayers out to all that have been affected by this bad storm .🙏🙏🙏🙏
