This video felt nice and relaxed...and really that's one of the things we love about Prospecting...getting up the bush, fresh air, space and bit of relaxing...and Gold of course. Great work, thanks for the fun Chris!
Great vid Chris, back to basics, the reason we all go out there, to have a nice relaxing fun day on the creek. Got the brother in law to pick up my pocket sluice for me from Dustin and would you believe it, a 10" sluice followed him home!
C&C, coffee and Chris time early EST zone. Already had a version of pocket sluice, gonna set up on a creek and get down on the perfect , V, still learning, keep teaching. Yabi Dabi DOO !
I'm only half way thru but I just wanted to say. Excellent production on this video Chris. All your videos are great but something about this one makes it stands out. Keep it up brother. Thanks for all you do
Chris killer video mate! Awesome again, I’m happy to be a patreon of yours and watch everyone video at least three times! Absolute Stella upload! Can’t wait to get me some Vo-Gus paydirt from the down deep under! Aussie rules
Procrastinate forever IMO, Martin is just a millennial hustler "give me some gold for free and my ~1000 subscribers will find about something they cannot buy". You don't need the kind of subscribers he has quite truthfully. I'm sick of him and his freeloading mindset. I unsubscribed to his channel when it became apparent what he was all about.
Chris, with your yabby pump, disassemble it and wrap a good lot of thread tape around the thread of the shaft and then reassemble it, the thread tape will help to prevent the nut coming loose and falling off, it has worked great for mine. Robert, Stawell
I'm going to replace the seals in mine with windmill cup seals, I have the valve kit on mine, I'm hoping that they will give it more suction and pushing power.
Chris.... an observation about yabbie pumps: Gold is the heaviest object you're targeting, therefore most likely to be found right at the very bottom. Therefore most likely to be the last to be sucked into a yabbie pump - correct? It therefore follows that it will be the first out of the yabbie pump, especially heavier pieces. During this vid, (and others) as @9:22 here, you always lose material from the pump before it gets to the bucket - always. Last in first out...........your gold. One way around this problem is getting the bucket as close to where you're extracting the material. I was also wondering if you could devise a way of checking out my observation. It would be interesting to see if there was anything to it. Logically tho it would seem gold would be the first to exit the pump during the pumping process. This was a great vid Chris, refreshing and just what was needed today. Regards
Nope. this has to be the most asked question on my channel. Gold Is heavy but particle size in more important. its picking up multi ounce rocks, rocks that are made of iron oxide particles so they are heavy as, and it keeps thm in the tube. What most people fail to notice in my films and what I don't often show is how I work with a pump. Its not random its been tested and well planed. The yabbie pump is in motion before the top of the stroke meaning im still creating suction as im moving to the pan. I work from the furthest point to the bucket, so if anything does fall out I get it on the next run. I do multiple runs over the bedrock. To cut a long story short this pump is better at collecting gold than any shovel ive ever owned. I've collected ounces with it.
@@VoGusProspecting If it is the most asked question - how about dedicating a show (or part of) to it? It would be very interesting to see what falls out when and where and what the strike rate would be. I understand what you're saying, (quote: "What most people fail to notice in my films and what I don't often show is how I work with a pump. Its not random its been tested and well planed.") but maybe you could also incorporate into the vid how you work with the pump so that we could learn from what you know. That would be awesome and an area nobody really touches on. I think overseas viewers would also enjoy something uniquely Aussie, something they could use in their gold recovery efforts. Maybe some new markets for the "Golden Aussie Yabbie Pumps"?
@@VoGusProspecting I think it would probably be a great way to go. I personally would love more knowledge on the yabbie pump, plus any mods out there; cause its not designed for looking for gold etc. I think others would appreciate it too. Cheers for taking it on board :)
Hey mate a hint on them 6inch gold rat sluices make sure the wing nuts are horizontal to the flow to stop any water disturbances in the mouth of the sluice

Chris, Thanks for another great and informative video. Incidentally, you've managed to answer a question that was playing in the back corners of my mind (and no, I'm not gonna say just what corner of my convoluted rathole either ...😂) about the utility of that pocket sluice. Looks like I will have to try one out for myself. As always, I am eagerly awaiting your next video. Best Regards, Chuck Preston

Thank you Chris for another great video of practical tips and "learny stuff". Lol.. Reading thru the other viewers comments I know I'm not alone in saying you produce great videos and we'd love to see you score a MASSIVE nugget or a good fist full of pickers in your pan one day soon, you deserve it mate. ,
Just a quick question. After you do a complete clean up of an area, do you reset the area to create a good low pressure zone to come back to next year? This works especially good if you are getting good flood gold. On private claims I have staked down 2' X 4" across the creek , then added a couple of angled pieces of 2X on each end to guide the flow. We also do this with stone. Thanks again for the videos!
Hi Chris love watching your vids.you have give me a big lift in life .I have been with my brother and his work mate doing some prospecting and loving it. I have found my first nugget with a big help from your quality information you give everyone thumps up .my nugget is 0.6 of a gram it looks like a foot think i have my foot in the door of prospecting now thanks to your inspiration.
Do you still use your yabbie "hand dredge" attachment? If not; what would be some reasons why. Is it more of a novelty item, or do you not use it because of the weight, and size of the system? Been thinking about making one, and want to know if it's worth it.
I have made one up in the last few weeks, I got my one way valves from GoldnSand. I gave it a good try out last week, in creek with all size stone and rocks, it had a vent cowl on the end (suction) and it classified the material as I went. I found it was a bit slow to fill a bucket if I was in a big stone area, when I got the small pebbly material it worked fine. I used it to feed my high banker as well, it pushed the material up 2 1/2 meter hose fine, I have now made the hose longer so it will be interesting to see how it goes. I have a Wilson brand yabby pump, and I am going to replace the seals with windmill pump leather cups, hoping that it will give a lot more suc and blow. Over all I am happy in the way it performs, and I will continue to use it when ever and where I can. Hope this run down helps you out. Feel free to ask more questions if you wish.
I have a question for all you prospectors out there :) I'm working an inside bend, really high up on a gravel bar, right in the roots of trees. I'm finding little nuggets and big flakes. Should I also be checking towards the middle of the stream, is that where I'll find bigger nuggets? Should I bother trenching across the bar, or just keep working the high bank?
So I have a sluicing question for you. Imagine sluicing about 10 buckets of dirt, then stopping for a lunch-break of an hour. Will gold be lost during the break as water continues to flow through the sluice OR should a guy always do a clean-up before going to lunch? Your thoughts??
now your the second one i heard saying about your sluice being level. jeff williams says to set up at 1 inch drop per foot of sluice. so 3 feet long equals 3 inch drop. so i am curious as to what is correct.
When you say at (7:25)'... no small disaster is going to befall THIS mining operation today.' I hope you realize the challenge you have just thrown to the mischievous and inventive Gods of Sailors, Prospectors and other vulnerable creatures to come up with a larger one that will.

100% depends on the mat. The mat in this video, go eat lunch. A traditional riffle mat, clean it out..
