The surreal feeling of ease when walking at BGC is incomparable to NY, when i first got to BGC i was too mesmerized to say how there were almost no homeless people, each corner was spotless and a lot of open areas to stroll. City ambience of BGC at it's finest, no rodents infested not to mention the poeple there were accomodating. Truly the safest city i've been so far.
Been so long since I’ve had a smithwicks. Try Crazy Carabao- Indian Pale Ale is maybe close and you can buy it in shops and bars. It’s made in the Philippines. Also there’s a craft beer bar beside tipsy pig in Forbestown. It’s also in my Forbestown video. Might find something close to smithwicks. Not really any Irish bars around. Closest is Buccaneers in Poblacion.
I live here in San Francisco, CA and I tell you now that it is safer to travel there in Philippines, especially in big cities like Manila, than traveling here in my home turf. Car break-ins, homelessness, lots of transients, loud obnoxious people, Karens...they are everywhere here in U.S. I was there in BGC a few years back and I've felt at ease and safe. I think even the roughest neighborhoods there in the Philippines is nothing compared to the roughest neighborhoods here in U.S. Just want to add that for your perspective as you travel around there. BTW, the provinces are even better to travel as the people there are mostly down to earth and live a much simpler and honest lifestyle.
I totally agree. I traveled around California about 12 years ago. It’s the richest state in the richest country in the world but I’ve never seen so many homeless people living on the streets.

You just can't find them around BGC though.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed. I’ve been living in Manila for 3 years. Hard to imagine how much has changed in 20 years. I’m sure you will be happy to return.
I was born in the Philippines, there are some places that are not safe for foreigners and Filipino alike. BGC, Makati the business district are safe. Thanks for sharing your experiences there. Watching from Washington D.C…
Yea, totally agree. Some places I would totally avoid. Some places are less safe. But still comparable to other big cities around the world. I would rate Metro Manila overall as a very safe city.
Thank you so much. I have so many favourite places I want to film and subscribers are giving a lot of recommendations I’ve never been to. I think I will be busy for a while😂 but I’ve live here for three years and don’t plan going anywhere. So I will be busy for a while 😊
There are alot more nice spots around BGC where you can hangout for drinks and foods. They may not be in the popular areas like Forbes Town ,High Street or in the Uptown , but in some isolated spots popular to BPO people One thing about BGC is that the economy there never stop grinding. In the normal daytime hours, it's the daytime businesses (banking , shopping, commerce ,etc) that are grinding. When daytime ends , the bar and restaurant businesses will take over and when F&B time is up, the food businesses and services catering for the BPO industry will take over. When BPO business time ends, the normal daytime economy will take over again continuing the economic cycle. The beauty of BGC is the nice juxtaposition of the commercial and residential living in a properly organized city. If you are into healthy living and loves to exercise , its sidewalks are wide and clean and there are several parks where you can run and exercise. There are also many membership gyms if you need one. Even at nightime , walking or running around BGC is very safe. The peace and order there is privately maintained by Ayala marshalls that's why it's more efficient and more effective. The government police normally acts as support only and it's usually the marshalls who have the jurisdiction if there are troubles in the BGC streets. Usually you can observe that marshalls are fitter than the government police because because they are required to perform physical exercises. I usually see groups of marshalls run around BGC during weekends. My knowledge and experience about BGC is from my 2 years of working there 😉
