I really needed that podcast. I’m making a comeback at 45. Lost everything. Home, wife, dog, mind, peace, job, family. Making 1/4 of what I used to make, showing up everyday and being kind, surrounding myself with good people. It’s been 6 months and I feel like it’s not enough. This podcast gave me a little push when I needed it.
It's refreshing, and also some of the smartest thoughtful people are the ones that ask questions and don't just pretend they know a thing, even if it's something they "should" 👍
This conversation and podcast truly made an impact on me, as a 19 year old man with a single mom it felt like for the first time someone was speaking directly to me and understood my struggles of what I think about on a day to day basis. Theo what you're doing out there truly makes a big difference in the lives of people. Thank you.
Hey there, just wanted to say thank you for your reasons. I'm sure a man being raised by a single mom isn't easy, I was in the same situation. We can only do the best we can, with what we have & know. I was a very young mother & did the best i could. I hope your mom did the same! Good luck & just keep being you, it works!!
Man, when Theo pauses to ask questions because he doesn't know what Scott is saying, he transforms into the best and most relatable podcaster on earth. Baller for sure!
As a 30 yr old mom with a 7 year old son, I needed to hear all of this. I’m so grateful to be able to listen to people talk about life. Not one way is going to work for everyone. But if we just talk and listen to each other more we’ll find what works for us individually. Raising a boy today, feels scary. I’m so thankful for both of you guys talking about ways to improve my ways of parenting a young man.
“Well, we don’t have to agree on that” and then moving on to another topic- amazing. This is how we move them over to the right side, understanding, common ground and mutual respect. Sharing ideas, and not always needing to agree leaves room for idea ‘amendments’. Always keep that space open. Gang gang.
That's exactly what we've been missing for the last 20 years. One side or the other will completely shut down a conversation if you don't agree with them on every one of their freaking talking points and it makes for a very dangerous environment. We used to be able to agree to disagree and that's why people would go to college. Now it's just an echo chamber of shitty ideas. Personally, I've always enjoyed hearing other sides of an argument because it's something I may not have considered and although it most likely doesn't change my mind, it gives me another angle to think about things.... Things that may not even be related, thus creating growth....
Terrible take. Theo was saying idiotic shit like, "It feels like you can't even be a white man anymore." Scott graciously let him off the hook, or when he wanted to tell Theo why RFK is such a fucking clown, or why it was incredibly irresponsible for Theo to have the craven morally bankrupt snakes on Theo's pod when he isn't equipped to push back and call them out. This is precisely what we don't need.
@@mikebracco890 Can you even name ONE policy that makes RFK a clown?? Also, it is perfectly ok for everybody to bash the white man but try saying something about any other race and YOU will get bashed so miss me with that shit!

Ehh if you are 44 without kids then you better look into adopting or getting with a healthy woman with a kid… you don’t really want to have a kid at the age of 44 as you will be 54 when he’s 10 and the energy issue will be huge lol
I love watching male podcasts, as a female is nice to hear from Men and just hear how they think and how they feel? Really helps understanding men since we are truly different! It’s very eye opening. Thank you for another great show!
Dawg none of this easy to hear but its unparalleled. For a long time I’ve dismissed any of my issues as relevant or valid cause I felt they held no weight. This really surfaced those topics and let me know its real and I have to acknowledge reality to change it. Thank you guys for using this platform to commence a wholesome conversation.

@@MA-zg2pz current data and trends trajectory. There is no reversal in the current path of the situation we find ourselves in, no laws being changed or culture shift happening. Our birth rate has been dropping like a rock since industrialization and there’s no solution to this problem, it’s at 1.6 births per US woman which is far below replacement. At some point we as a society will go extinct. And the worst part about it is when polled, young women given the option of being a mother for the sake of society but sacrifices their personal dreams, or getting to live life how they want but humanity goes extinct, they overwhelmingly choose the latter…
Father of 5 kids here. Agree. Nothing compares to having children. I can have a shitty day at the office but it all disappears when I come home to my wife, 4 daughters and son. It’s more fulfilling than anything else on earth.

I think it’s fine to think of Theo and others online like this, but it isn’t the solution. It points you in the right direction in some cases but it’s not a replacement for irl mentors.
I just want to learn to talk to people. This wasn't taught in school, wasn't taught by my parents, not being taught by therapists: I don't know where to look for help anymore. Men and women need communication skills desperately.
Go out and talk to people. You gotta get out of your comfort zone. Go a town over if you’re afraid of people judging you in your town and just talk to people. Go to open mics, karaoke, cafe’s and start a conversation with someone. Usually older people are more open to have a casual conversation with a stranger, so maybe start with them. Talk about anything, the weather, sports, if someone’s reading a book ask them about it. The more you do it, the more natural it will feel after a while. Go get it bro/sis!
Many people like to throw the word "autistic" around which I find really sad. It is just a case of.. be curious and be genuinely interested. And that takes time. I used to hate small talk but now I love it. The more you do it the less akward you'll get. You'll notice this especially if you've been socially isolated for a while, it can be a bit like a diesel you need to warm up again.
After watching this incredible podcast last night, I almost watched another, but I was so motivated, I got off my ass and continued to work towards my future. Also as a result of this particular episode, I called my nephew this afternoon and we chopped it up for a while, which resulted in an excellent and meaningful conversation. Haven't spoke to him in months, but I need to start being involved in his life more, so I will start calling on the regular. Thanks to Scott G, I finally fuckin' woke up, without being necessarily woke. Oh, and Theo, whether you know it or not, you're a mentor to many of us...and a damn good one. Thanks player!
As a 27 year old man, single, I definitely don’t agree with everything that was said by Scott but there is a lot of wisdom in what he says. Much respect for discussing this topic that’s affecting so many young men out there, including me. Thank you for the pod, Theo ❤
@@SamHurlting5182for me personally it’s his opinion that women are more emotionally strong and men are more physically strong. I feel like it’s the opposite. It seems like women can handle more pain but women tend to have more emotional outbursts. Obviously these are all generalizations on both sides and I guess that’s what I disagree with most of all
Thank you Theo. I’m 34 and you’ve been an incredible inspiration for me brother. Been doing comedy almost 8 years and my goal is to be able to make as many people happy as you do! Keep up the great work!
Completely agree on nearly all points. Just be weary of burnout or work-life-imbalance in trying to meet a certain financial status. When either are in progress, nobody is happy or emotionally healthy in your home. 10 months ago, I quit a 21 year professional career due to burnout and realizing my kids need me home more now than I needed my mom when I was a kid. Our family income took a 70% reduction as a result, but I've watched the positive changes in my kids due to my presence and interaction. I wish a working guardian of a minor received the unemployment they've already put into so they can raise their kids, not strangers. 🤘💚
Absolutely, and Scott says that his career focus wasn't necessarily the right way to go about it because he acknowledged not spending enough time with his children. When we talks about being financially viable for more mates I think he's primarily saying be an active member of society, be sturdy in your financial literacy and be smart with your money, do your best to have a solid financial footing. Not necessarily get riccchhh.
Everything changes when you have kids! I count myself so lucky that I was able to start my own small construction business and have my kids work with me and pass on the trade if they so choose to continue in this field but otherwise I spend days on end with them and probably more time than they like lmfao I think that's the magic. Finding something you can do with your kids!
1:18:00 and further, as a 32 year old man, this shit resonates with me so hard. There used to be a point in my early 20's where I wanted to be a father, but as I'm approaching my mid 30's, I've given up on that dream. I cannot buy a house or afford insane rent prices. Wages stagnate. Inflation is destroying me. I'm getting taxed to death. Women aren't interested in dating guys like myself. We are truly f***ed.
Yeah same. Im 33 and was financially destroyed by Covid lockdowns. I had perfect credit and a decent savings, but my life was turned upside down. I thought I was on the way to maybe getting a house and my first girlfriend ever, but it seems impossible at this point. The last girl I took out called me broke and worthless. The smith & wesson retirement plan looks better and better every day.
The powers that be, Bildeberg groups, WEF, councils of 300, whatever you want to call it are actively destroying YT, christian men. Let's not play pretend and say "well if you work harder everything will be okay".
Same. 33, got out of highschool to the world of post 2008 crash never able to save money or have a buffer zone for years, finally clawed my way out of extreme poverty and gradually built a small business, after being absolutely demolished by the governments reaction to covid and losing said small business, was barely able to mortgage a cheap house in 2023 to stop losing so much money to rent, can barely afford the excessive bills/property tax/phone/elect./water/gas/internet/insurances/etc. required in this age to be a member of society, but thats about all that I can afford. Specialized major trade but still can't go out to eat, can't put a new roof onto my house, can't upgrade from my 2009 beater or to put insurance on my 30 year old sports car which is now a backup plan for if the 2009 beater dies or gets demolished by an uninsured driver, can't afford to start another business, constantly being one domino away from all of the rest coming clashing down bringing me back to covid era hell of helplessly watching everything burn. Car gets wrecked? Everything comes down. Medical bills? Everything crashes down. Roof leaks? Crashing down. A/C unit dies? Crashes down. Kitchen fridge/freezer dies? My world turns into rice and beans out of a can. We were screwed, man
This was an excellent conversation. I work at an all girls public high school and I shared this information with them. I helped start a campaign to eliminate cell phones in our building and used Heidt’s research to convince my admin to lease Yondr pouches. Now every student has to put their phones in a locked pouch when entering the building. We need to get on top of this now.
I especially enjoyed this particular episode. I like that Theo doesn't pretend to know everything and asks for clarification. We should all aspire to be like that.
Best Theo podcast I’ve listened to, thus far. Good, responsible, loving men do need to be appreciated..and vice versa for the women in their lives. We need to stop one upping each other or bringing each other down. The goal is for men and women to excel together..especially in a relationship. We all bring something to the table that benefits everyone ❤️
@@AustrianPainter14I’m sure you are definitely one of the sad, angry people in the world that he mentioned. Hope you get the help or mentoring you need to stop shitting on everyone else 👍🏼
Well said. The only distinction I would make is regarding one upping each other. In my view that's almost exclusively a modern woman thing. Men don't compete against women... we compete against other men. It's really women who have this "we can do everything a man can do", we are smarter, we are better attitude. That's what the whole girl power movement was about. You don't see men saying they don't need women, but women say the reverse constantly. So one upping is a woman problem... but the rest of your comment is spot on 💯
Same here I'm 38 but got a gf and an apartment. I'm batteling mentalhealth, anxiety, ptsd, depression and trauma from my male boss in 2014. I'm so introverted and feel so lost in life. I feel like we need a spinoff podcast/reality show of Theo and Scott picking up chicks at Whole Foods, advising girls on which long vegetables are ripe etc and getting their numbers.
Love to hear that your motivation was "economic security for me and my mom", versus saving the whales or even being a good person. I feel the same way (at age 30). My dad passed away 2 years ago and now all I want is to look after my mom and set her up right financially/medically for the future. I just bought your book The Algebra of Wealth, and am applying all your knowledge to my life with the same goal you had. Thanks for this
Yeah, but it shows also one thing, that successful people sometimes think they know it all in all aspects, even in things they have clearly no clue about.
Scott is an odd guy. He identifies the correct problems, but he completely gets the solutions and causal factors wrong. No idea how you can talk about how much men are struggling for years on end while still supporting the ideology and political party that causes (or at best, mocks) that suffering.
I don't think Scott knows Theo is one of the biggest touring stand up comedians. He keeps referring to him as top podcaster lol. Then Scott randomly get surprised and cant help laugh at Theos jokes
Scott's team booked him on Theo's show because they're trying to make him the "Joe Rogan of the left". Go listen to Scott's podcast with Kara Swisher, they're some of the biggest Rogan & Musk haters out there. Disgusting bunch
As someone coming from a country where military service is still mandatory for young men, I can say Scott vastly overestimates the positive effect of mandatory public service.
@@cartmangreko one hidden benefit we discovered during Vietnam, if everyone's kids are equally likely to get called up to go and die overseas, we are less likely to get/stay engaged in foreign wars.
@@jludoI get what you mean and you make a valid point, but everyone's kids are never likely to get called up. Even in the context of the military service I mentioned, the children or rich/well-connected people are always placed in camps near the homes where they essentially work as part-time interns for high-ranking officials. Meanwhile, poor kids get sent to the super-tough border camps.
@cartmangreko I don't think you'll ever fix the problem of rich connected people shirking the system, but my point was more just that the vast number of average people have some skin in the game. The longest US wars happened where poor people volunteered for the army and no one gave them any thought. War should be a big deal in which the majority of people in a country pay a high price, or else we shouldn't have the war.
Theo. You always talked about how you wish you had more time with your dad. And now you're waiting and waiting until everything is perfect to have a kid. Nothing is ever perfect you're just wasting the opportunity to build a family you wanted to have. I'm 30 years old. I'm in school and an apprentice. My son is 8. When I'm 42 my son will be 20. In this time he will see how his father actually worked and created a better life. He won't just be hearing about it.. most of all we will have a very long time together.
That’s one of the ideas that’s pushing me to have kids before I’m completely “ready.” You also give them more time with your parents, and there’s a better chance they’ll have children of their own when you’re still young enough to be an active grandfather.
@@kungfoochicken08If you want to be a dad you'll be a better one than most. And you'll learn being the father is the sum of all investments. Being a good father involves everything. You become so much more cerebral and motivated.
Get off your goddamn high horse. Also, it takes two people to start a family and Theo doesn’t have a significant other (that we know of at least) so what are you even talking about? In my opinion, you wasted your 20s by having a kid so early 🤡 there is no “correct” way to live life. Glad you’re happy with how you’ve lived yours but don’t tell others they’re “wasting time.” That is ridiculous.
I have a question, as a woman listening. When he says that males have a higher selection set for mating when their careers ameliorate...wouldn't that just attract inauthentic women? Or a relationship on the foundation of money? So, if the man loses his job, his relationship is then at risk...The man I chose may not have a lot of money, or job status, but I value who he is as a person: strong, loyal, trustworthy...We can grow together based off a foundation of love. My relationship feels more authentic than the one Scott described.
Thats another bubble you got talked into. Our family was broke and lived in a communist country and still my parents made three kids and we all turned out very well. We get told kids are a hindrance and you need x amount of money, which is totally bs
Lower your living standards. You’re running out of time. If you have kids now, you’ll be damn near retirement by the time they graduate high school. You’re robbing your kids of precious time with their grandparents because you’re concerned you might not be able to get them the latest game console the month it comes out.
"@24 i had no economic prospects, I was broke @ 34 then i was broke again @ 42"...…I can fucking breath knowing it's not all over. I always have a foundation to build on that many don't have. I'm exponentially grateful for this episode.

Scott is 💯 bought in to the entire paradigm that is crushing men while recognizing how it harms them. Its NYU acceptable discourse that is a dead end street.
Theo is so right about how good it feels to be on a team, man. Although I started rather late, I’m talking Junior to senior year, playing high school football was one of the best experiences I ever had. It was literally our motto to treat each other as brothers.
1:28:50 Best advice of the podcast “What can I be great at that pays”. I wish I would have heard this in my 20’s. Instead I bought into the “follow your passion “, which left me straddled with student loan debt and working in an industry that hardly pays a living wage. Now that my children are raised I am faced with starting a new career so I am not a burden to loved ones or society in my later years.
If women are doing better than males in the US like Scott says, then why do they keep complaining about the patriarchy, wage gaps, and everything about masculinity? where can we even find the truth on this subject? it seems every expert has a different opinion on it depending on their ideology.
Because they’re not lol. I think Scott has good intentions but he still speaks with a woman centered mindset. More women are going to college….but they’re not majoring in high paying fields and are drowning in so much debt that the student loan crisis is a presidential election issue. Men should provide and protect, no man wants to be disrespected and disregarded but still expected to sacrifice his money, time, skills and sometimes his safety and life for complete strangers that look down on. Men didn’t check out, they were pushed out and stopped trying to push back. I’m don’t believe in quitting or giving up but i talk to a lot of young guys that have a loser/hopeless point of view on society and on life and it’s getting harder and harder to talk them into continuing to go on because what do they really receive for their handwork? Children that take them for granted and a wife that doesn’t respect them and is incentivized to turn that mans life upside down and has the legal system and society’s support to do so
Something I’ve started to notice is that every female boss I’ve had does not invest any emotional energy into me. They kind of expect me to invest emotional energy into them. So as more and more women are in positions of leadership they don’t seem to understand that leadership is service to those you lead.
I can say I've had many female bosses and pretty much universally been awful. There was one that was decent. I think because women may still have a lot of insecurity about being in a position of leadership. Like it can be taken away from them at any moment. I do think that women have a hard time understanding the male psyche. The inverse is also true. But when it comes to leadership it's a big gap for most women.
It's not right or good, but sadly this is the result of women being treated this way for centuries. I've never once had a male boss who understood my role as a wife or working mom of two, in fact I was always expected to do more and work harder than my male counterparts.
@@KuchiniFallinFromDaSky I think the thing a lot (not all of course) younger women don’t get is you deserve more scrutiny in leadership. If I had a male boss that was “insecure” about the position, they’d be gone in a second. Shut up and get stuff done or you get tossed aside, that’s how it works.
Theo is an incredible interviewer. He knows his audience. He will stop the interview if he doesn’t understand something, because he knows his audience might not know. Love you Theo!

The single women homeownership stat is horribly exaggerated. It includes widowers and women who got homes through a divorce. Most young women, just like most young men, can't afford a house on their own and aren't buying them.
This really resonated with me. My main concern, though, is the burnout that often comes with the hustle mentality we’re told is necessary to be economically successful. So many people’s regrets at the end of their lives revolve around working too much and not spending enough time with family and friends.

I don't know Scott from Adam, but this is the classic example of whats broken in liberal men. That’s a huge part of the problem. Do not chase them. Smart women run when yiu chase them (kidding not kidding). Have conversations with people, be kind, be selfless, and be supportive of those around you (not financially). When you worry and pressure yourself on finding someone you are more likely to find someone doing the same, and you may pressure something that isn’t really there and that’s a huge part of the problem. All of the divorced people I know rushed things and already had an idea of what they wanted. Thank you Theo and Scott for your service today. 🫡 I am not Theo’s typical audience as a lesbian. But i grew up in small-town America and saw first-hand how we are leaving young white men behind. We can only do the best we can, with what we have & know. I was a very young mother & did the best i could. I hope your mom did the same! Good luck & just keep being you, it works!!

No im kidding.

You can type well at least.

Amen !
Wow that’s really beautiful, bless you and your family. Thanks for sharing
Everything changes when you have kids!

My relationship feels more authentic than the one Scott described.
yes, if a man loses his job or shows weakness it jeopardizes his relationship. women want winners.

Children that take them for granted and a wife that doesn’t respect them and is incentivized to turn that mans life upside down and has the legal system and society’s support to do so
Awesome to see Scott get some shine on this sort of pod. Slowly reel the younger guys away from gurus and towards real values.

The single women homeownership stat is horribly exaggerated. It includes widowers and women who got homes through a divorce. Most young women, just like most young men, can't afford a house on their own and aren't buying them.
To any person who feels lost or worthless, surround yourself with good people. The rest will follow.
This really resonated with me. My main concern, though, is the burnout that often comes with the hustle mentality we’re told is necessary to be economically successful. So many people’s regrets at the end of their lives revolve around working too much and not spending enough time with family and friends.
also, I was craving him to “yes and” Theo SO much more. So many great nuggets like the Whole Foods girl, the hiding his manhood when he walked into a restaurant. It felt like Scott was giving a Ted talk to Theo. Didn’t really feel like a duet- but I still loved it. Just could have taken it to another level.
That's why Scott said 22-44 he worked his ass off so he could be here doing this. Trying to bring awareness to young men left behind
I’d be less worried about the burnout and more worried about half assing life. Believe me it’s worth it
@@lessonswithmb Agreed. Theo would say something then Scott would just ignore it and go right back to whatever he was talking about.
“Oh hi are those flowers? By the way I have one of the biggest podcasts in the world”… is one of the craziest pieces of advice I’ve ever heard
Its also the worst advice ive ever heard in my life. This outs him as one that still doesnt know how to pick up a girl but attract a golddigger
Well, it also shows that he doesn’t know Theo at all 😂
Yeah that’d be such a turnoff lol

Holy shit! Scott Galloway on this podcast was never on my bingo card
I like Scott a lot and he adds a tonne of value but I struggle to comprehend how he was such an advocate for Harris when that timeline was so clearly anti-male, anti-freedom, anti common sense.
What are you talking about? Do you get your news from social media by chance?

So much quality advice for you and them in this one video. His advice works in a world and culture that no longer exists. He's an old man scared of a changing world
Been following Scott Galloway for a while mostly from his Podcast with Kara Swisher called Pivot. Excellent podcast. So freaking cool to see him with Theo Von!
Scott is getting worse by the week. Hard disagree.

@@frankmaitland1254 I like a lot of his content, and he's a smart guy. Unfortunately, the more I have listened to him, it becomes evident a) he is a hypocrite b) he steals content and c) he is quickly running out of fumes because he's just not HIM. He doesn't have the charisma or authentic interest in the conversation other than self-promotion.
I love this whole discussion. I love that Theo engages in this kind of discourse that is so thoughtful and at times provocative but in a mindful way.

He's right about some stuff and way off base on others.interesting listen either way.thanks theo
He has to tip toe around what he says so he doesn't end up ostracized by academia and his publishers. He could pivot the way Jordan Peterson did and become even more popular after mainstream media cancelled him, but it would be a tiresome battle.

It’s hard though I feel there is so much pressure on us. It makes me sad that my son will struggle if he doesn’t have a strong male role model.
@ the good thing is getting a jumpstart and realizing you have to fill that void somewhere. Sports… church… looking into big brother type groups. Bringing it up helps us to focus on what we need to do so we don’t miss the chance to reach out as find some good male role models for our boys who will be men one day
Love Theo, and Love Scott, but would love to hear an interview with Scott where he dosnt give the exact same word for word, line by line answer and mixes it up a little bit just for fun
true that's a fair criticism, but you have to understand this is reaching a lot of people who have never heard of him before, so he probably wanted to get his main message out there. hopefully theo has him on again some time in the future
Scott endorsed Biden.
He enthusiastically endorsed Kamala.
He's a common globalist neoliberal.
Not sure what you people are so impressed about.
@@crystal_pepsi it also brings in the question of what else does he have to say, it seems like really great but kinda risky marketing.
Agree. Scott says the same stuff over and over and I’m like why you on podcasts if you have nothing new to say and no new books? But I appreciate some of his content so not trying to hate to bad on him
This is just a symptom you've heard his message enough!
theo is so funny and strives for understanding/growth, my fave! and scott galloway is a gem in his conviction and niche - I pray he grows in faith IJN
I don't know Scott from Adam, but this is the classic example of whats broken in liberal men. Scott claims to be atheist and "none of this matters" yet keeps referencing the failure of young men who lack connection with church, mentors... The problem is, liberal "men" have told the rest of us God's not real, marriage and sexuality are fluid. Theo, appreciate your willingness to defend your beliefs. You have every right to agree to disagree. That's the beauty of America.
Exactly. The truth is he's not an atheist. The guy is obsessed with and worships money, success, and sex. He's a polytheist of sorts, masquerading as a liberal nihilist.
Yeah. It's hard for me to take relationship advice from someone who refers to his wife/girlfriend as his "partner" and is still talking about "getting money and getting laid."
Scott doing the real work, what a legend
What kind of "work" is he actually doing? Saying stats out loud? lol.

whats the point of chasing women and " being a provider " if its a 50/50 chance they will leave you and sue your for spouse support? that just makes us more of an ATM machine
@@lionsgarage 🙁
Women want to be in love and in stable relationships. Don’t assume women will leave. We literally have the same fears about men.
Spouse support? Is that even real? Do you mean child support ?
@auroraborealis13579 Women divorce/break up with men at much higher rates though.
Neither my husband nor I wanted to be in a relationship when we met, neither of us wanted to get married, and had completely given up on finding people where we were. Then we met and we’ve pretty much never left each others side
Wow this episode has changed my perspective. Being a 42 single male and not wanting children. It’s time for a change and I hope it’s not too late. Blessings to all the men and let’s go!!!

Thank you Theo and Scott for your service today. 🫡 I am not Theo’s typical audience as a lesbian. But i grew up in small-town America and saw first-hand how we are leaving young white men behind. We can’t afford to leave anyone behind in this great country. America needs men who exhibit behaviors of protector, procreator, and provider. The masculine and the feminine energies balance each other out and both serve a purpose in our society. 🇺🇸 💪
