1979 Woodward Stakes, already posted on TH-cam thanks to andtheyreoff, however this is the CBS Sports version which includes pre and post race commentary, diferent camera angles. The call is by Marshall Cassidy, and the race is won by 1978 triple crown winner AFFIRMED.

Wonder if General Assembly's handlers had second thoughts about not entering their horse here. He broke the track record in the slop at Saratoga in 2:00 flat. This race goes in 2:01 and 3. I'm sure they thought the Bid would be here and went another direction.

@@raygordonteacheschess5501 Marshall was a pompous prick. During his announcing era I went to Saratoga for the first time. He was in the paddock sitting alone (it was early before the 1st race). I said hello to him & the pompous aloof snob who wouldn't even acknowledge that I was there, never mind to say hello to a fan. He was gifted that announcer gig as he father was a big wig at NYRA. A real jerk off.

I have watched way too many races , runners and trotters, and this is common. They are too busy ticking off the order for the umpteenth time to keep up with what is going on.
