As beautiful as this castle is - as are the other Edwardian castles in Wales; one mustn't forget as to _why_ they were constructed. The subjugation of the Welsh .... 🏴✊
Beautiful castle, and I do agree that restoration works in progress, though maybe an eyesore, are very much a positve feature. We want to visit them for years to come, and that's only possible with upkeep and restorian! Thanks for taking us along 😁
I'm with Billy, it sucks that the restoration going on blocked some really cool stuff, but at the same time I'm glad they are restoring it. There was still plenty to see, another awesome episode!
@@AFoggyPath amazing castle, went there last Yr in June, really enjoyed it, I am welsh from South Wales, had a fab time, yet ironically what was used to subject the Welsh, now its the Welsh people ( and of course visitors like urselves) who benefit, and it is the Welsh heritage organisation Cadw that cont to preserve these castles for future generations, greetings to u both from wales uk.
It's an amazing castle, isn't it? And yes, so strange to think how history has played out to end up where we are now, visiting such an incredible stronghold instead of using it for the original purpose. I'm glad it and it's history is being preserved and we're so glad we got to visit!
Great video y'all even though all these castles scattered across England being maintained by the government surely most put a tax on everyone anyhow that's their business I would add that do you have a beautiful wife but if she is a natural redhead you are a very lucky man in my experience once she got back up there she would be kicking your ass!!
We're definitely glad they're keeping the castles going because they are awesome! We would love to go back and see more someday. And that whole situation was so ridiculous it had is rolling with laughter by the end of it 😂 what a day!!
Edward longshanks along with his first wife, Eleanor of castile, bore 15 children, 🤔I'm not too sure on how many children he had with his second wife Margaret of France, Queen of England! I was there almost 3 years ago with my wife and it took us 3 days to see the castle in its entirety (Just glad we're members of cadw otherwise that would have been an expensive weekend)
SO MANY CHILDREN!! We are SO jealous that you got to spend so much time there. We'd have loved to have done the same. Was the king's gate open for your visit?
@@AFoggyPath Yes it was the reason we spent so much time there is due to my fascination with medieval architecture and I spend so much time trying to piece together what's missing I'm a geek when it comes to things like castles.
Billy is the same!! He was so disappointed to find it closed for our visit. Hopefully we'll be able to go back someday and see it again. I'm glad you had ample time to spend there. It must have been amazing!
@@AFoggyPath Oh it was. being as I live in South Wales we are surrounded by Castles. If you ever get the Chance to come back go and visit Raglan Castle. and another bit of history for you - Wales had more castles than any other part of europe with a staggering 260 Castles, I still haven't managed to see them all yet but some are just hill forts and some are just foundations .
Raglan Castle was my FAVORITE!!! I haven't gotten to editing that one yet, but it was hands down my personal favorite castle. I'm so glad we saw that one!
Yes!! It's so strange to think of them that way sometimes, but they must have been stunning. We've been to a few that were still that way, but not on this scale.
Loved everything about your presentation and I’ve subscribed but promise you’ll change out the repetitive music? I found it detracted from your otherwise nicely done narration. Your relationship is cool to watch as well. Thank you!
I did 24 castles in North Wales in May.Stayed at the Anglesey Arms which in the white pub next to the castle.
That's AWESOME!!! Which castle was your favorite?
@@AFoggyPath Ewloe and Caergwrle where really good.
Aww we missed those. We'll have to put them on the list in case we get to go back!

Yes!!! It's so important, even if it means we miss out a little. Love the name of your channel, by the way!

Yes!!! Even with that area blocked, this castle was MASSIVE so we had plenty to explore.

A Foggy path! This looks like a good place for me :)
We hope so!! 😊

The castles were originally lime washed white.
To make a statement.

But - not Caernarfon castle
