  • In this week's video… Navajo Historian, Wally Brown, teaches about time.
How time is divided up into the different parts of the day and into the evening.
Wally also teaches about being in the Sweat Lodge with the Old Ones discussing time and how it is different in the different planes of existence.
One might say “The Holy People have their own time”

All I know about Dine society is a little from anthropological works but they were viewed at least before too much colonization as a very communal, hospitable, and individually free society. I know many others in North America were definitely like that to the extent that there world was quite wonderful to be in and completely different from the class divisions and mentalities of Europe and many other commercial and militaristic societies. These societies actually developed the social systems that people today wish they had.

Cheii Wally has much wisdom but remember he is expressing his dichotomy from the eastern Navajo perspective, those folks who have had more time to plant their fields in peace and live away from their kin to the west who lived in a constant state of warfare with their surrounding neighbors (the Navajo are a land locked people) so keep that in mind he expresses this himself in his other videos. In the past we used to argue about these things and whether or not they should even be shared with outsiders but now the knowledge is leaving us at an unprecedented rate I no longer argue discussing them so long as they are being discussed. Long has it been said our relatives of white skin and dark skin soon would come seek our knowledge to benefit themselves, and I feel that time is coming again, I won’t deny them.

Thank you so much for this teaching on time. In a previous comment, a viewer quotes from 2nd Peter, a reference that is often misunderstood, but it runs parallel to the message in this teaching. In the quote, Peter is saying, to an impatient audience, that the Creator (God) isn’t limited by time as we (five fingered beings in the Third World) are. In this lesson, we learn that in the Fourth World, we will join with the Creator and Holy People and be similarly unrestricted. Powerful theology Wally!

That helped. I'm not the weird one now cause I love the Red Path and Jesus. I've had many spiritual experiences like obe. And this is not 'it'...there is more than just this existence. I luv here too, but it is like school. Hard

Thank you so much for this teaching! To me these traditions are the most important sources of wisdom in order for humanity to live in harmony and I am sorry about all the inconveniences that "Civilization" has caused to people who actually know how to live.
There is young people in Europe that understand this.
I think for this being English it gets the point across quite well.

I am so grateful for this teaching. Eventhough I an from European decendants, I very much appreciate the teachings of the natural citizens of this country. Your Navajo traditions are beautifully adundant of history, truth and knowledge. I am honored that you Sir, have taken the time to give out this education. All indigenous people have much to offer us all. Many blessing to you from the Great Spirit.
