  • My R3 Giving some problem and refusing to start. It was very annoying , I had to stuck in traffic signal 2-3 times for that self start issue.
I thought It is the problem for the aging of the Battery but while troubleshooting I found that Battery is ok and able to provide significant current without dropping terminal voltage below 12 volt.
Finally found that the starter motor is not spinning even with proper power supply.

Process to take out the Motor from the bike: It was a tedious job that I haven't had the courage to record that process. Well, I can guide you step by step to take that motor out from the bike without removing fuel tank and all other additional stuffs.
    1) you have to undo the fairing of both sides.
2)On the right the clutch cable clamp will come in the way of your work, you have to take it out, that part can be seen in the video.
3)You have to unscrew two motor bolts that is attaching the motor with the body. There was a hole and cap type of structure (In our Indian bikes, there may be some sensor in other country) just adjacent to those motor mounting bolts, you have to undo them as well (and keep the hole covered with some tape).
    4) Gently twist and pull the motor, it will come out from the main engine housing. Main challenge starts here, (from the right side of the bike) motor will refuse to come out from that cavity only because the positive terminal wire is connected with it.
    # If you could manage to detach that positive wire the motor will come right away from the right side (in which side you are working as of now).
I tried for some time but found it is very difficult and there was a chance that I may lose that small screw connecting that positive wire with the motor.
    5) Now come to the left side of the bike. Take out the things coming in the way of reaching the motor, the motor will come out from this side while the Positive wire is attached with it.
As far I can remember, you have to do the followings:
    Take out Coolant reservoir,
    Disconnect some breather hoses,
    Undo some wire management clips,
Disconnect the harness of coolant temperature sensor (you don't have to remove that sensor)
I think you are good to go after that.
It is better to take some step-by-step images so that you can refer them while re assembling and don't forget anything (I did the same).

How did you manage to get the bolts off from the motor?

@@mrsherman2770 There were two 8 mm bolt holding the motor with the engine. I would suggest to use good quality box spanner or any ratchet spanner so that you don’t end up rounding off the head of the bolt. It may feel a bit tight initially.

Bro i have a 2016 r3. Once it gave some charging issue so I changed the rr unit and alternator but my bike is not charging the battery till 14v. Its does charge upto 13.8 at 5000rpm. The battery is also new. I am confused what to do

Its ok as long as the battery terminal voltage is 13.5 -13.8 while the engine is running.
      This is standard charging voltage.
