Im in the same boat I dont understand the hate for remakes. Doesnt matter if the movie is remade we still have the original. Its not like the original will be wiped from history due to a remake.
I'm a big fan of the original movie and so is my grandson. I kinda wish they made a prequel of the lostboys characters, focusing on each individual. Marko, Dwayne and Paul which I felt really were only tag along characters in the original, I feel they all deserve a story. Wouldn't it be great if there before and beginnings as vampires along with David had a movie? What do you think? I hope the new movie will be good, I'll watch it anyway and probably buy the disc.
As an indie filmmaker myself all these remakes are due to lack of original ideas by Hollywood writers. I understand that be remaking or rebooting a franchise can work as the framework is already there and the following some films just need to be left alone
Hey Cody, I don’t know if you will se this, but there is a good vampire movie that came out this year called blood red sky. It is on Netflix if you haven’t seen it. It came out this year. I also have faith in the remake. I have a brother who felt the same as a lot of people saying that he hated the fact that there would be a remake.
No. Why? No! You make a valid point. I’ve not seen one remake of movies created in my lifetime because I like the originals, so why do I care? I guess I don’t. Thanks!
I'm like you. Give it a shot. If it sucks, it sucks. But at least we can get a modern version which I'd like. Don't get me wrong. The original is a classic. I doubt the new one will be better. But the new IT movie was pretty damn good. So let's give it a shot.
I personally think people want remakes to fail because they don't want it to be better than the original or maybe it may break their rose color glasses to the original. For example technically "The Thing" is a remake (though it is based on a novel) and it has over shadowed all other film versions of "The Thing From Another World"...
Thing of it is, the original was lightning in a bottle. The music, actors, dialog, location style etc etc, it’s going be so hard to remake a classic film that is timeless.. also they are really young, maybe they will go with the original idea of them being kids, I don’t know, I’m all for it but they need to take into account everything that made the og brilliant!
When I sent that post yesterday on Twitter to you asking you was this good or bad, I thought i was the first one who did. But apparently i was wrong, sorry about that lol
i mean it does matter if terrible then it isnt as likely they will continue with the original storyline. not like i have seen a new lost boys since the last one which was the tribe or thirst? I just wanted to a continuation with more about werewolves that were teased at the end
The reason why there's a negative attitude towards remakes and reboots is because they're usually inferior to original. Not always the case though i.e. Fright Night reboot etc
Thank you. What's the worst that's going to happen? It will come out and be a totally fine film or it will bomb and be forgotten. I don't see why there's always a discourse about remakes. Half of people's favorite films are remakes and well most of the people who complain about remakes don't see original films like they claim
I really think they should just keep the main structure of the movie, two teenage brothers end up fighting a gang of young teenage vampires, let’s just keep it 4 dudes they don’t have to gender swap I like the vibe of a group of guys on dirt bikes like the karate kid almost
I have hope with you. The original will always be a classic and my favoritemovieof all time! That being said it was so perfect I can see it coming out Prolific
Preach! People need to give the movie a chance. I'll wait until they announce who's directing it (I don't know if they announced it or not) to voice concern or excitement. Or wait for a trailer or some stills. I feel that people know that remakes are hated by a lot of people so they act like a hive mind. There have been really damn great remakes but for some reason people don't like to acknowledge them.
I'll give the movie a chance when they actually complete it, and we will see what they come up with. But I won't hold my breath, the CW tried to do a reboot TV series with Catherine Hardwicke or w/e her name is, the Twilight director. And it was a pain to film, Its near impossible to get filming time in Santa Cruz these days, and Hardwicke's reboot was a disaster according to CW, so they axed it. Got a new director, and switched locations to the east coast, filming got halted due to C-19, but I wouldn't imagine a retooling to be much better. Whoever is working on this, has a massive uphill battle as far a filming goes. If its a Warner Bros film I'd feel better about it, they could do a better job at making the interior set pieces like the cave, but yeah. Good Luck to whoever directs this project.
While I certainly respect your opinion on this, and def agree about the blowtorch part. Here's my gripe. Every time a studio greenlights a remake/reboot and it makes money (regardless of quality) it just compels them to keep doing it over and over again and that's ONE more original screenplay that'll sit on the shelf collecting dust. I mean why create original content when you can just bank off of nostalgia, and sell the title. Some people don't care, and that's fine. But for me I refuse to concede and say that Hollywood has run out of ideas. There are dozens upon of dozens of unproduced scripts that I would love to get made. But that's just me.
It's possible the remake could be better. Not likely, but possible. Two remakes I can think of off the top of my head that were better than the originals were The Hills Have Eyes and Dredd 2012. Coppola's Dracula was a reboot that beat all of the previous Transylvanian based Dracula films prior (and after) to it.
I feel you bro some remakes are awesome and cool. I would like to see killer clowns- monster squad - shocker , I woul also like to see Chopping Mall but Shopping Malls don't exist anymore.
The thing that has me is that apparently it's gonna take place in the present, so no 80s flair which could be good or bad depending on how they take it and I think it'll be really hard to get away with killing so many people when everyone has a camera and the internet, and with the casting both the guys look really young visually, it'll be hard to imagine them as a character like David or Michael because the set image they have is the older muscular brother who's kinda rebellious and the gang leader type respectively, both types of roles require a more grown up young adult look, so I really hope they're playing the one of the Frogs or Sam who are supposed to be kinda boyish. Both could be great actors but if the image doesn't fit the roles people aren't going to like it. it's like imagine Drew Barrymore playing Morticia Addams. then again they could mature facially by he time they actually begin filming
1:11 exactly i kinda think that it might actually be good never as good as the original obviously. But i have hope for it . btw i just got the lost boys poster and got a hoodie two years ago.

@@jennifersixx3740 you know what that's actually a pretty good idea . You could probably talk Alexander into playing Michael or he could play one of the other lost boys

The lost boys original will be best always there should be a 4K UHD Platinum Version of it.... It be nice to see a remake. what be better is if they use the same locations they used in the original like Grandpa's house , the cave, the park. Every spot, that will be crazy.

I'll be honest, I hope that the remake does well. I really enjoyed the Child's Play remake, and, I'm probably going to get crucified for this, but I didn't mind the remakes for Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday the 13th, or Rob Zombie's Halloween films. Having said that, I am not going to have high expectations, because there have been tons of remakes that have been lazy cash grabs over the years, and that's including all the ones I've mentioned.
Honestly, when I saw the title of your video just now, I was like WTF???!!! Not again!!!...and all that. But after hearing some of your thoughts, hmhm...maybe you re right. Maybe it wont come out as a dog crap, maybe it wont rape my childhood nostalgia for "Lost boys", "Stand by Me" and movies like that. For the most part I agree with you Cody. I would however Argue that horrible reboots such as Ghostbusters 2016 could in fact turn off would be fans of the other films in the series if that was their first taste of the franchise. But it is nice that you’re optimistic 👍
shoutout Powerline. I2I
Greatest Rockstar on the planet!!!
Did it ever come out?
Will muscular sax man be back?
If he's not...WE RIOT!!!
Lost boys is awesome but I still love near dark more
The one thing I hate about Hollywood is when they remake classics from my younger years.
Im in the same boat I dont understand the hate for remakes. Doesnt matter if the movie is remade we still have the original. Its not like the original will be wiped from history due to a remake.
Hey dude any thoughts on the hellraiser remake with the female pinhead coming out?
Political nonsense
@@hoole1926
I actually kinda like it because pinheads sex is ambiguous in the novel.
This is hyped af!!! Glad to see you are very optimistic
Some things are done so well, you can't top it. You leave it alone and actually take the time to create your own idea
Cody, you haven't done a review for Conjuring 3, have you?
No. Why?
I'll keep the original thanks.
3 years later and i still cant wait to see what happens and im still excited
Ahhhhhh been a couple years and no updates
I personally think people want remakes to fail because they don't want it to be better than the original or maybe it may break their rose color glasses to the original. For example technically "The Thing" is a remake (though it is based on a novel) and it has over shadowed all other film versions of "The Thing From Another World"...
The Thing is readaptation of a book
@@supoa9489 Yes I said that it is based on a novel
they're just trying to grab cash.. what is wrong with Hollywood nowadays? why can't they stop making remakes and start making movies new movies...
I love that you brought up the point break comparison because I love the original point break I’ve never seen the remake
The lost boys is already a perfect movie they don’t need to remake it
Gonna be a black Christmas 2019 thing that happened rushed production resulted in poor reception
They alway messed up movies with Remakes!!
When is "The Frog Brothers" coming out??? the twin series???
"When this comes out in 2 years...". Its over 2 years and it hasnt started production yet 😭
2:29 forgot about that still haven't seen it
While I certainly respect your opinion on this, and def agree about the blowtorch part.
One big problem will be giving Corey Feldman media attention, especially if he isn't involved. He'll milk it. Probably write songs about it. Having this creeper involved directly or indirectly is an immediate setback.
It'll be interesting to see who gets cast as David and Michael I hope this is a huge success
David could only be played by Bill Skarsgard. Would like to see MGK pull a perfect Michal. Don’t judge me 😂
@@jennifersixx3740 you know what that's actually a pretty good idea . You could probably talk Alexander into playing Michael or he could play one of the other lost boys
@@LORDSHIN33 Emma Stone would be a nice *Starr*
The original was absolutely amazing & one of my favorite movies! I sure hope they don't make a total lemon of a remake. Sadly it happens way to often when the remake movies years later.
Cody you should watch 2007’s “30 Days Of Night” is a really awesome vampire movie!
That movie kicks ass.
" first rule of Remakes DON'T FUCK WITH THE ORIGINAL" - sidney Prescott
Is Kiefer Sutherland going to be the head vampire now?
This was awesome, love some more takes!
Big Lost Boi here so cannot wait for more info
3 best vampire movies to me? From Dusk Till Dawn, Lost Boys, Dracula Dead And Loving It
There have been several horror remakes that have been very well done. I've just learned over time to temper my expectations, as I have been let down many times. I agree with just about everything you said, Cody. I never understood the whole, "they're ruining my childhood" mentality when it comes to these films. Time will tell if it is any good or not.
The lost boys original will be best always there should be a 4K UHD Platinum Version of it.... It be nice to see a remake. what be better is if they use the same locations they used in the original like Grandpa's house , the cave, the park. Every spot, that will be crazy.
I agree Cody, we got nothing to lose, and I enjoyed the new Candyman as well
The racist piece of shit movie it was.
@@hoole1926 racist hahahahaha lol how?
proud family, fresh prince, lost boys…. Hollywood officially outta ideas and it’s Remake szn til 2030s
I just found out today about the remake. One comment I read said it should be called "The Lost Gender".... Yes, won't lie I lmao... Hope it's a good movie for those you go and see it. I saw the first when it came out, that was good enough for me...
I'm rite there ya. Had the exact same thought reaction when I heard the news. I'll give it a shot. if I could semi enjoy the two straight to dvd sequels of lost boys I'm sure it'll be an alright time.
Why? Just because you can do something doesn’t mean that you should…
Look what happened batman’s joker with Jack Nicholson compared with Heath ledger
I think Noah Jupe could stand in Corey Haim shoes (if casted in his role). After all, kid was awesome in "Honey boy" and "Ford V Ferarri" so...Thank you Cody for injecting some hope and positivity in this project!!!
The only thing that would make this video better is if Cody started with: YOU KNOW WHAT GRINDS MY GEARS?!?! 😂😂😂
"REMAKES SUXXXX" all their top lists usually include the fly and the thing lmao
"It's not like, when they announce a remake, they come in with a fuckin' blowtorch and they destroy the copies of the original movie..." Here, here. Well said as ever, Cody
Good point. No matter how bad a remakes are they can't hurt the original. Hey I hope the Lost boys remake is good. But If it isn't we'll still always have the original
I physically need this remake to be good. otherwise, we get a resurgence for the 35th anniversary and more fan content
I'm on board with a reboot if it's set in 20th century and not the 80s
