Been using CT10’s with a lowly Garmin Venu watch for a couple of years, and overall I’m happy with it (I didn’t want a watch that was 100% focused on golf). I do think that Garmin could do a lot more development on the app to improve it though. Also, in this vid I don’t think you quite understood the putting stats. This is how you interpret it: of your short putts, you’re holing 80% of them and mopping up the other 20% in 2 putts. Of your medium length putts, you’re holing 36% of them, and mopping up 64% with your 2nd putt. On your long putts you’re holing 39% and the other 61% in 2 putts. You haven’t 3 putted any (short, medium or long). But early days, I’m sure 3 putts won’t stay at 0% for ever 🤣 Sorry mate!
I just picked up a used s60 and sensors. I’m happy to see at the end they compile the data and show you where you are falling short instead of having to process the data yourself. I’m hoping this gives me direction on where I need practice or lessons to improve my scores. Great video as always. 👍🏼
I'm using the Ct10 and Garmin Approach S70 together and I really like that it tells me what club to use. Its still figuring things out here and there, occasionally ill get a 6I on a par 3 which of course i dont use, but its pretty cool. Ive only got 1 round in with the CT10, but probably 15-20 with the Garmin so there's defiantly more data to gather.
Yeah they’re great. Only issue I’ve found is that you can delete data very easily. So if you’ve punched out with an 8 iron 50m or so that goes towards your averages for an 8 iron. Or if you chip with a 9 iron around the greens etc
Just received my CT10s and have a couple of comments. First, check your putter grip if you have an aftermarket grip. I didn’t and when I went to screw the sensor in, I discovered it was metal and could not be screwed. More importantly, the software is old school. Club assignment options are only for 3 hybrid and 4 hybrid, ignoring the fact that sets down to 6 hybrid are not uncommon. You might think this is no big deal, but I suspect that lots of people carry a hybrid and conventional iron of the same number to avoid a gap in their bag. The software forces you to use an unassigned club to cover this. In the same vein, the options only have 3W and 5w to choose from. Lot of golfers like myself carry a 7w. Had to assign 5w to my 7w. You may think this is no big deal, but this is a premium product with a premium price and I expect better. Lastly, it appear that you can only assign 14 clubs. So if you have a club or 2 for particular types of courses and wanted to add the starter set, it appear that you can’t without reassigning clubs. I just expected better execution from Garmin.
Hi mate, I think you may be mistaken. You will need to setup your golf bag in the Garmin golf app and then those clubs will be available when pairing the sensors. For example it goes right down to a 25 wood. Also with the putter you can cut the bottom part of the screw from the sensor and it will fit flush, I had to do that with mine. So setup your golf bag in the Garmin Golf app and then you’ll be fine.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf I played with the app and figured out where I went wrong. When you go to pair your clubs, there is a list. However, you are not limited to that list, you can add to the list . I did not realize that. So I added to my list, waited for my watch to update (there was no immediate sync function) and corrected the names of my clubs. The only limitation appears to be that you can’t pair more than 14 clubs so adding a specialty club would require replacing a club. Thanks for the tip. Now, on to more important matters. How did you attach the sensor to your putter? Glue? I can see cutting off the bottom of the sensor, but it would still be to be attached. Just curious how you did it. Thanks

I'm now leaning to not only add the CT10 to my clubs but I may add the full set due to the added convenience of never missing recording a club hit. Yeah it’s great in not recording practise swings also. Sometimes you have to edit a couple of shots but that’s minimal and you can do it at the end of the round

Hey David- question. Do you manually move the pin on your watch before the approach shot (or before a par 3)? I'm really trying to figure out how it could possibly know how accurate the approach, chips and putts are without doing this.
Well after watching this video I decided to order a set for my Callaway Paradym X and Fenix 7X. It paired up ok but haven't golf yet, so we'll see this up coming Saturday on how it performs. I wonder how it'll do for a bad golfer lol. I am curious, how long does the batteries last? I'm gonna get some extra just in case.

I believe you need to take your practice swings over the ball and it will take the latter swing as the GPS on the watch tracks you to your ball to read the distance once you have hit your shot.
Thx for this. Using Arccos now but subscription is very expensive after the first year. Is there any subscription fee for the Garmin? I am already using a compatible garmin watch ....

Which grips have worked best with the CT10s to prevent them from falling off? I have used two different grips (Winn Dri-tac and Golf Pride MCC) that don’t seem to work so great with the sensors. The sensors would come loose with the Winn grips, and the sensors just completely fly off the Golf Pride grips.
So I’ve seen a video where they claim the sensors don’t last and will just die pretty quickly. Are you still using them? Have you found they die. I’m. It talking about battery the device dies and needs to be replaced. Thanks.
My have lasted well over a year with no issues, eventually the batteries will need to be replaced but they give you a tool to open the sensor and change the battery so that’s not really an issue 😁
If you have a special bag that lock the clubs like some OGIO that sensor can remain at the bottom. I am pretty sure that it happened in a normal bag too once, be aware that even with a brand new grip you will have at least one sensor that would like to go. Be cautious or glue it.
Thanks for the video it was very informative and great for stats. Given Christmas is coming up is there any chance of a discount code from Garmin for the Approach® CT10 Full Set?
Hi, thanks for the review, I'm torn between these and the shotscope tags, only reason I believe is for me sometimes I like to use my 8i from 60-80yrds out also around the greens for bump and runs, so with shotscope they account for that in stats but with CT10 would doing this mess up your average yardage when looking at the stats?
My average yardages are pretty spot on and once you’ve got enough shots in there that becomes less and less of an issue. You can also unassign the club for those shots so it doesn’t effect the averages and still leave the shot in there 👍🏼
@@davidmaxfieldgolf brilliant, maybe a Xmas pressie from family lol( work well with my S62), just need to try and sort out mu launch angle and early release then jobs a good one lol Many thanks and love the reviews

Hey! Was posting on your Z82 vid and got into the discussion on Arccos v CT10, so watched this again…a couple of questions. 1. When you re-loaded on that one hole and hit a provisional, how did the Garmin deal with that? 2. When you brought the extra club with you to chip, how did it deal with that? Great review…I don’t know why I thought you had to tap the CT10 to a sensor to indicate the club…maybe that was another sensor…these look very similar to what Arccos does BUT without the annual subscription. As soon as my Arccos annual subscription is up this year, these are probably going on the clubs.
With the CT10 censors you don’t need to press anything before or after any shot 😁 but below is the video where I go through all of the features. The golf starts at 10:27 th-cam.com/video/hXNVKo_qnxk/w-d-xo.html

David do you know if you can use the CT10s just on your mobile (with the Garmin app) or does it need to be on a Garmin watch?
That’s a great question. I think you may need a watch but let me check it out for you and I’ll get back to you 😊
So I’ve seen a video where they claim the sensors don’t last and will just die pretty quickly.
Do the CT10's count practice swings?
No it doesn’t. Thats the great thing about them
do they have this feature for the s62 garmin watch as well?
Which feature?
Are you still using the CT10's a year later?
They’re great but I’ve moved to Arccos now
8:43 Mate you just need some gardening clippers. I won't tell anyone :p
Lol would have helped 😂
Short putts- you make 80%, that leaves the other 20% for a two putt
Correct
Great video am I right in saying that if you have CT10 on all clubs you don’t have to score your round it automatically does it for you
100% 😁👍🏼
David, is the CT10's bothering you while using the clubs, and can you put the clubs in your bag with the CT10's attached? Won't it damage the sensors?
@@eduanwessels4292 no doesn’t bother me at all, don’t even notice them really and they don’t get damaged. They’re a hard plastic 😁
Thank you mate. Unfortunately not directly but a lot of golf shops like golf box and Drummond golf here in Aus have started their Christmas sales 😁
You can also unassign the club for those shots so it doesn’t effect the averages and still leave the shot in there 👍🏼
@@davidmaxfieldgolf So would it be worth getting if you know your numbers, or do you then use it for accuracy for tee to green?
@@dafyddgould9485 it shows you a whole lot more stats then just numbers. It’s become a really important piece of tech for me
@@davidmaxfieldgolf brilliant, maybe a Xmas pressie from family lol( work well with my S62), just need to try and sort out mu launch angle and early release then jobs a good one lol
Many thanks and love the reviews
@@dafyddgould9485 thank you mate, you’ll love them 😁
Hi David, I have the Garmin approach G12, will it work the same as the watch you used?
If it has access to the sensors then in essence yes but the watch also includes a lot of its own functions too. Stats should be similar but the actual watch functions will be different
Thank you Sir, and yes it can accommodate the sensors. Im ordering mine today. Thanks.
How are you doing the pin placements?
You can move the pin around in the Garmin Epix Gen 2 watch and all of the Garmin Golf Watches
Cool. Had read somewhere that you need to do this otherwise the stats work off the centre of the green
@@timherbert yeah which is still not bad for approach shots but for putting it’s better to move the pin
How does the watch know where the Pin/Hole is?
You can move the pin on the watch
@@davidmaxfieldgolf I just started playing again this year and I'm using the GolfShot iPhone app and Apple Watch series 8. Wouldn't it be great if courses uploaded the GPS coords of the pin placements and all of the apps had access to that data?
Ct10s are crazy expensive 14 costs as much as a Garmin watch, right?
$499 for a full set in Australia 🇦🇺
Great review David. I’ve been using the Arccos system for the last few years, but since my subscription lapsed, looking to see if I want to switch over to another system…have you used Arccos? If so, how do you compare them? I have a Z82 range finder in the mail, so wondering also if this system would link up with the GPS aspect of the Z82? Thanks again and I can’t wait for the day when I mis-hit and not get all of a 4 iron and it goes 210! LOL…
Personally I love the CT10s and I think they’re amazing. You don’t have to think about it at all. Just go and play and it collects all the data for you then you can just review it later. Amazing for the golf game 😁
I guess the ct10s are durable and stay on in the bag.
Yeah absolutely, they screw in to the end of your grip
How to make ball tracking as your video?
I use the shot tracer app on Mac 💻
you didn't show the watch face during the round, and what you had to press before or after each shot
With the CT10 censors you don’t need to press anything before or after any shot 😁 but below is the video where I go through all of the features. The golf starts at 10:27

You call that wind??
Always harder to tell on camera with good mics
Great content, I use shot scope at the moment, does the ct10 pick all the shots up , my shot scope not always great have to edit all the time not picking shots up 🏌🏻
They Really are great value sensors and with no subscription it's a good budget option.
